We start to change out the valve cover gaskets on the Ferrari 599 and it's a super annoying task. There is very little access to the rear bolts, plus the gasket doesn't like to stay in place.

Dan, not to be picky , but a fender cover would really come in handy when working on a car.
Ok , Dan . I've only watched 2.00 minutes . My biggest pet peeve , Why aren't you using a fender cover ? Replacing the valve covers will be cheap compared to repainting the fenders ?

@@john_belk It's good he was wearing the suit but sometimes grime gets caught in the fabric and can create scratches.
When humping your fender it's advisable to use protection.

How would you compare the 599, vs any other models of Ferrari?
If I were to spend that kind of money, I would likely go for the 911 Turbo later model just for the handling factor. I was worried about Ferrari parts and tune up costs.
That car is sold.
There's a car museum in Southern Cal. All cars that are street legal are taken for a one hour drive each week. They said cars deteriorate quicker just sitting doing nothing.

Love the 599 project car. Gated shifter will be brilliant on that thing. But can you please put some shocks on that hood? The stick is making me very nervous.
No. I tried adding shocks and they flex the carbon fiber hood.
interesting, never have sprayed valve covers or the gaskets with any type of cleaner before. Wonder if that part about the rubber bonding to the metals applies to all aluminum valve covers? Might try that on my Miata since it needs a new valve cover gasket anyway.

I thought you weren’t suppose to use brake cleaner on rubber, plastics etc, I’m always scared to put it on anything but metal.
