Rest in peace Bill Paxton.

Died almost exactly one year after this video was posted.
+Essess Nine. Then how come you're here.
I was talking about Bill Paxton. I'm here because I died almost exactly 4 years ago. I'm a ghost.
+Essess Nine. Wot.
I went on this as a kid and randomly pushed a bunch of buttons on a podium i thought where fake then got yelled at by an employee. To this day I always blamed my self for killing the triceratops when it closed down the next time I went to universal.
we blame you too :(
Oof sad... I feel for ur loss by being yelled at...
All your fault
Allison Luis And islam is a religion of peace 👌🏻
I got spooked when i saw the animatronic's eye missing
SCREAMS. i know this is old but i'm not just seeing it. i opened the park, IOA and i was a "veterinarian" actor for triceratops encounter, Cera, Topper and Chris. Aw I miss those horned fools. ANYWAY, it really did break down constantly, mostly after we pushed the urination button and water would mess up the animatronics. which apparently i was told at the time cost a million dollars each to make, some parts coming from nasa. not sure if i believed that. i remember opening the park to VIP's actors, studio heads, etc and i got to spiel for steven spielberg. IT WAS AMAZING, i mean until the triceritops broke down in front of him. awwwkward. eh, at least i got to touch them and pet them lol. it's too bad they couldn't make the attraction work. instead i was sent as an actor to the baby raptors who hatched out of the eggs. RIP Chris, Cera and Topper. you're missed.
Aww! That's awesome! btw do you still work at IOA? I'd love to hear more of the story!
no, sadly i don't. i pretty much left a year after IOA opened to go back to school and work my dream career, but i never regret working there and a lot of my friends still work there. what would you like to hear? during one part of the attraction, we asked for a volunteer to come up and pet the triceratops, but it had to be a child. we would fix the gate to have enough room for the child to pet the triceratops's nose and they would pet and while that was happening we had to push the button that made the triceratops sneeze water all over the child. it was kind of funny.
Aww! I thought maybe the dino sneezing would be great to watch! And I'm glad at least the kiddies got to pet them.
No I happen to work at Universal now myself and I thought I could hear the story in person. But that's ok.
Nowadays they have the Raptor encounter which uses a really cool velociraptor animatronic that can pose, bite, growl, call out and sounds just like in the film. They do mostly photo ops with the raptor and his 'trainer'. It's awesome to hear about the Triceratops though!
Which one did you get to touch and pet? The triceratops or Steven Spielberg?
Did you ride my boats at Island Skipper Tours Skipper Sam
Some friends and I sneaked back into the triceratops encounter back in 2012 and got some cool pictures. Very creepy to see the tv screens in the wait line were still on and of course the broke down dinosaurs. Don't know how we didn't get caught.
I thought I was the only one who measured weight in Bill Paxtons.
uhh no?
Sarah The Terminator uhh yes?
I DID THIS in 2003 as a KID AND THE TRICERATOPS SNEEZED ON ME. I got COVERED in PROBABLY TOXIC GLUE and EVERYONE LAUGHED. I WAS TRAUMATIZED.
User nope, it was SEAMEN 👌🏻
Would you do an Abandoned video on a ride that got replaced because I would like to see one on 20,000 leagues under the Sea at WDW
He may be able to do one, considering the fact that he did Horizons, which was replaced by Mission:Space
Stephen Vathakos yes! Excellent suggestion
Stephen Vathakos "UNDER THE SEA UNDER THE SEA. *SMACK* WAIT WAIT! We don't have the license to that song"-SMG4 & Friends episode 1 part 1.
Hey he got to it 8 years later lol
I've now officially watched every episode of Abandoned
Legend.
i don't know why i find myself coming back to these videos over and over again! i just find these so interesting
128 Bill Paxtons is a lot of Bill Paxton.
+Clay3613 some would say too much Bill Paxton
you can NEVER, I repeat NEVER have to much Bill Paxtons
Too many
Actually too much Bill Paxton is gonna be annoying
R.I.P Bill Paxton
I love your abandoned videos, keep up the good work!
I actually went to the this attraction during a trip to Orlando in 2011 or 2012. I guess it was a brief revival or something. It was just cool to see a vintage attraction that had once been closed.
Connor Brennan no I think this is the Hollywood version I think the Orlando one is still there.
@@bennettfender1546 Orlando was the only one and it closed.
OH MY GAWD I was fucking 4 when I went to see this! I wasn't crazy!! I remember seeing this triceratops but none of my friends have ever heard of this encounter. My parents lied to me and told me it was real just to get a kick out of my reaction XD
Your parents are EVIL. :)
Cool Story bro.
6 people thought it was :)
+Zoey Lopez Nah I find it pretty cool. It's like when I went to the zoo for the first time and pet a Giraffe!
@@AKUNJIG How is that the same though? Giraffes are real, dinosaurs are not. :p
you should change the intro for abandoned, make the bright sun entertainment thing look like it was abandoned and make it rot and rust and become darker. idk but just a thought
Amazing thought!
I like it
Good one! :D
no
this is crazy, i remember a question mark on the map and exploring to find it. discovering this was one of the most impressive things that has ever happened to me at a theme park and that's coming from a huge Disney fan
I went to see this attraction and loved it when i was a kid.
nobody cares
@@whatclub3934 I hope your day gets better than this.
I would but I can’t because you exist
@@whatclub3934 everything is going to work out.
Lol just because your verified doesn’t mean everybody cares
Hey Jake, Im a brazilian theme park fanatic who absolutelly fell in love with this series! Keep doing this amazing work dude!
Disney seriously needs a central/South America park! Like they have TWO in the USA but none in the rest of north, central, or South America 😂
@@laneyhesse8102Once the Latin America governments get their acts together and stop selling drugs, etc, I'm sure they would. But everyone knows how likely that is.
Wow, so I was watching one of these Abandoned videos from a couple years ago, and came to this one. Your narrating has improved a lot. (Though I think I'm the only one who liked your non-scripted, colloquial narrations) Awesome video.
I totally remember going to this in 2000 when I was 10. I have memories of touching the actual animatronic but I could be mixing up memories from something else.
we did chose one kid from the audience to come up and touch the triceratops, and then we had to make it sneeze on the child.
Do more abandoned malls or hotels please 😄
I, too, have an emotional attachment to this attraction. I was one of the kids "lucky" enough to be "sneezed" on by the Triceratops, a memory that is a cornerstone of my childhood. It's so bittersweet watching more recent videos showcasing this now defunct area.
Will always be thankful for going to Universal when the old Jurassic Park was there. I loved all the stuff they had for Jurassic Park. I always remember playing over where they had the dilophosaurus water shooters and so much more
Was at Universal Studios Hollywood two weeks ago, and they have a very nice Triceratops walking around.
please do Land of Oz!
Good idea
Caitlyn's Corner omg yes yeahs
I remember last summer I watched all the abandoned videos, and now I've come back to see more, and I'm definitely pleased!
I love these videos so much I rewatch them all the time
great video! this is one I've been waiting for
Love these vids, thanks guys!
i remember seeing what I thought was a building behind the velociraptor encounter when I was there and I couldn't figure out what it was since the encounter didn't seem complicated enough to require a building like that for it... now I know. Thx, i wish this was still open, it seams so cool.
I'm in love with your channel. I think I'm addicted, I've been watching it everyday now.
This ride was awesome for its time. Watching your videos is like getting into a time machine that I wish I could stay in!
Dude thank you for putting my Twitter in your video!
Thanks for featuring me it made my day!
four years to this day...still a great video :)
This attraction was later used in 2002 during Halloween Horror Night 12 Islands of Fear. For the (JP Extinction) scare zone and the haunted walkthrough attraction call "Project Evilution".
i love this series! keep it up!
These abandoned videos are great dude!!
As a kid we went to Islands of Adventure for my younger brothers birthday, he was under 6 years old and LOVED triceratops. The attraction was down for repairs but they ended up letting my family in and we got to see the dinosaur. Felt pretty cool to have them take the rope down just to let us in.
Ah I just found your channel and I love this series!!
I had to see the original Jurassic Park twice in a couple days because I fell asleep during the first go around. it must have been a real late night the night before.
you just gain a new subscriber :) i love these videos they are amazing
I’m sorry ... but that’s JOLLY’s intro music caught me off guard
2022 update; the entire thing was completely levelled in 2018 and replaced with the Velocicoaster. The Raptor Encounter still stands though.
I never knew this closed!!! I'm crushed, it was my favourite bit of my entire Universal trip, it's always been near the top of my list of things to do whenever I get to go back! And it's been closed this whole time! 😭
I'm so glad I came across your channel! I love your videos! Keep it up 😊
Thanks so much for watching!
+Bright Sun Gaming Hey, I love your videos. May I ask what editing software you use?
i remember watching a popular mechainics for kids episode on this ride. it was really neat. especially for the time. would have been cool to see
I love watching ur videos . I just started watching and ur videos are great
I love the Bill Paxton comparison. I used to watch one of those extreme engineering shows and it was always "This is ten football fields, and this is 5 Eifffel towers, and this is s a boat with 1000 canaries but only half of them are flying" and they wouldn't say the ACTUAL DISTANCE OR WEIGHT. You know that universal system (well, almost universal).
I'm glad I found this little channel, this shit's right up my alley! (MAKE MORE!!)
I remember the 90's well! I was a teen of the 90's! Awesome video!:)
what I always found that was funny with that attraction was that there was one building that had screaming dinosaurs in it and it said attraction coming soon so it made it seem that there would have been a velociraptor encounter but I think it's just a building that only has sound equipment it, you couldn't open the door.
3:48 the freaking face on that thing is making me terrified
What freaking face?
+Studio 97 the pic before 4:38
+Osita Portillo 3:48*
I remember there was a guy outside the Triceratops stables with a "baby triceratops." Blew my dinosaur-loving-kid self's mind, they were my favorite dinosaur! I LOVED and missed this encounter so dearly when I realized I couldn't find it anymore.
My day was made when you featured me ^°^ thank you! (':::
I remember seeing this when I was like 5 or 6 and it blew my mind sad to hear that it's now an abandoned episode
good stuff as always 👌👌
It was open during the busy seasons of winter 2010, spring break, summer and winter of 2011. It was Triceratops Discovery Trail during that time and never changed its name back to Encounter.
Dinosaurs are so neat-My dad used to take me to various places that had the animatronic ones cause i loved them so much!! I used to have plastic ones i played with in the bath!
I'm old enough to have actually seen this thing for once and yeah, it was a HUUUUGE snorefest after such a long line.
Looking forward to the next one.
Ive been to Orlando about 5 times now and they only had this the first time I went in 2003. That was a pretty memorable experience.
yayy love abandoned videos!!
I remember seeing a segment on these guys on Popular Mechanics for Kids! I'm sad I never got to see them in person.
I went to IOA in summer 99 when it was brand new. I remember the Triceratops (I was really into JP) and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
I remember seeing this as a kid in 2000! I loved it, and as a kid who loved Jurassic Park was in love with the JP pavilion!
I stayed subscribed for the abandoned series U do it right!
this video brought a memory from a very long time ago. In the 90s, I remember they had an area with the Flintstones houses from the live action movie, Does anyone remembers that? It'll be cool to know what happened to it.
when I was in grade 4 I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs to the point where I was teaching the teacher about Dinosaurs, correcting all their mistakes XD
I remember going to the Triceratops Encounter as a kid, haven't been to Universal since, didn't even know they'd closed it.
I remember going to this attraction back in '02 when I was around 5. I was scared out of my mind! I still hate animatronics to this day lol. Pretty sure my dad has a VHS somewhere of us walking through this exhibit and me crying when we meet the dinosaur.
Damn. When you're causally watching a video and it explains the weight of a animatronic triceratops by using an actor who's death was actually announced on that day. R.I.P Bill Paxton.
(Also, good video. Been watching a few of yours lately and find them fascinating. Thank for delving into the theme park histories and creating these videos!)
Also the entire attraction space was demolished to make for a new attraction call the "Velocicoster" The Apex Predators of all coster🎢.
I'm sad to hear this closed. Jurassic Park is quite simply a magical place. I went there twice and I hope they keep bringing new attractions together for days to come!
This attraction was very special to me. They did in fact add a portion where guests were allowed in to interact with the triceratops. When I was little, before the first closure, I was very upset as I was not tall enough to be selected to go in the pen and interact. After the show the actor held my family back, and between shows let me have a one on one with the triceratops after turning it off as to make it safe for my small stature. Being a small child I was none the wiser and had an amazing experience. So sad to see it go. This video makes the attraction seem lame but I remember it being really impressive and immersive. Of course, I was a dinosaur loving child so maybe my imagination ran wild, but I remember it being cool
Amazing Vid

p.s resistance is a game that's ded
I think you meant UNDERTALE fandom, Black OPs fandom, and dabbing.
ggman713 8
Edit: the whole area is now demolished for a new jurassic coaster 😃
I remember this attraction as a kid too. I specifically remember getting sneezed on, lol.
I'm not really a 90's kid, but The San Diego Zoo and a local library was my childhood.
i love these
It's here yay.
This one broke my heart... when I was 10 years old (2007) I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs, and I got to go to Universal Studios. I remember the emcee or whatever saying that one kid could reach out and touch the snout of the triceratops, and I got picked, but couldn't reach, and the emcee said I couldn't do it, then he picked another kid. I'll never be able to touch the triceratops...
I went to this in 2010 and 2011 I love this thing it was my favorite
The Triceratops Encounter was demolished and replaced with the Velocicoaster.
I did this attraction a few times... however, this thing usually had long lines so we skipped it a bunch. One of its coolest uses was for at least one Halloween horror nights. We had been drinking, but I remember it being an entertaining scare maze.
Yay he hit 100,000!!
These episodes are great. I'm new to the show tonight, but I don't know if you've done the Astrodome yet. I'll keep looking...
Could you maybe talk about the original Hard Rock Cafe that was inside the Universal Studios Florida theme park? It's gone now but it was definitely abandoned for the longest time.
Love this series! You should do one on the S.S. United States ocean liner!
This is a very good show
PLEASE DO MCBARGE it's a floating mc Donald's that was a abandoned I don't know if you'll find anything interesting but it would be cool love this series btw
+Delaney B You know, I posted something about that on Twitter but I found a video of two guys actually exploring it. I just think their video is better then what mine could have been
This one hurt... I remember seeing it for the first time when I was 11 (2001) and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Granted, sure, it was pretty simple. But for a kid my age at the time, who was a HUGE fan of the series, it was n awesome sight to see. I took my wife there June 2016, she had never been to Orlando and had always dreamed of going to all the parks. I was kinda geeking out waiting to show here this one. Buuuuut then I realized what took its place when I saw it. Wont lie, it was neat to see the Raptor and all. But the nostalgia hurt!
I also remember this attraction as well when I visited in 2000. I also remember it not being much of anything.
wow...i totally forgot about this ride -- i experienced it way back when
Aw man. I thought it had just been closed when I visited back in 2015.
This was my favorite part of the park as a kid. I guess I saw it around 2001 or so. The triceratops sneezed on me, and, thoroughly charmed, i visited it at least a few more times before that vacation was over.
Pretty sure I felt like it was an actual animal at the time.
This haunts my dreams @3:33 FUCK!
FUCK UR RIGHT DAT IS THE DEMON OF ROBOTS! IF IT WAS THAT OR FREDDY THAT WINS BY ALONGSHOT
Jesus, I remember seeing a video on that triceratops so so many years ago.
Attraction guests: "That's one big pile of shit"
I snuck in there when I was younger. I saw this faint path and me being a curious kid followed it into that area
