She did a fab version of "You keep me hanging on"
She's a pure 80s icon! She had hits from the early eighties 'til the early nineties, like Cambodia (synth heaven with very deep lyrics), Chequered love, You came (a must on every 80s party), You keep me hanging on (one of the best pop covers), Four letter word (a very good ballad), Never trust a stranger (80s disco) and many more. And she's a very kind person...
Dancing In The Dark, Love Blonde, The Second Time, Can'T Get Enough (Of Your Love) ^^
Kim Wilde is an incredible artist 'Kids In America' celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year.
Approved!
Damn , iam feeling old right now.
Her father (Marty) has had a very long career he started off in the 50 s and still sings songs now!
One of the best records of all time this one. She had so many brilliant songs.
Approved!
There's something with her voice... I just love it. Always have.
Bonus info: After she stopped her music career, she became one of UK's favorite Garden show hosts on TV :)
Sorry but at latest news she still singing nowadays... please look at this video to know her complete career : czcams.com/video/e1bp7UxZQgo/video.html
Kim was a true beauty - Try You Came, Never Trust a Stranger, Cambodia, Chequered Love .........
She still is.
You forgot about: Can't Get Enough , Water On Glass , Million Miles Away
As hot as it gets in 87/93, saw her on tv today still great at 60..
I love Kim Wilde , I bought all her records and still love her to this day. I had her poster on my bedroom wall in the 80s-Along with Agnetha from Abba. Fave songs are-Missing/Brothers/Cant get enough of your love.
We had the "Marilyn Monroe" of rock, Debbie Harry. The UK had Kim Wilde the "Brigitte Bardot" of rock/pop. I had her albums as well as Debbie Harry/ Blondie. Her debut, self titled album featured more great songs. It's my favorite of hers. Try listening to, "Chequered Love" "Water in Glass", "Young Heroes", "Our Town", "Falling Out", and "Everything We Know". Other songs not mentioned but, has synthesizers and guitars are, "Sparks", "Janine", "Never Trust a Stranger", "You Came", "Can't Get Enough of Your Love", "Million Miles Away", and the unforgettable remakes, "You Keep Me Hanging On" and "If I Can't Have You". Also you'll love her duet with Nena, another blast for the bast called, "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime".
Kim Wilde was more popular in Europe though she did have a few singles here in the US. She still records and tours in the Europe.
Enjoy!🎶
Hi Dereck.
Kim Wilde is on my top 5 artist (ABBA top 1). Thank you for reacting to this, it brings back memories.
I’ve seen her 2 times in Denmark. Peace Jesper.
One word: Attitude. She's got it, and the rest of the band has it too. Takes me right back to high school.
She hit it big in the US with a remake of The Supreme’s “Keep Me Hanging On”.
I was so there! Living in the UK in 1981. This was her breakout hit. She’s the daughter of British 60s famous singer Marty Wilde. Definitely born into pop royalty.
Love love love love love love love this song
French singer Laurent Voulzy performed a tribute song to Kim Wilde called " Les nuits sans Kim Wilde". A very beautiful song released in 1986.
"Les nuits sans Kim Wilde" translates to "Nights without Kim Wilde". I let you think what going on such nights... Voulzy was fascinated by that girl and wrote a song dedicated to her. She was so impressed by such an admiration, that she accepted to participante to the videoclip as well as to the song.
here is the video czcams.com/video/aiKXqSXicG4/video.html and indeed Dereck should react on this one too
@@dashcam94 Lots of synths... This is so 80's in the sound, in the outfits, in the hairstyle.. 80's all the way long. And on top of that, it dates back from the very same year Dereck was born. He should definitively react to it (but we are not on patreon here, unfortunately).
So great, this song! Pure 80ies synths. And I can understand Laurent very well, Kim was and still is so very pretty!!! I've always been a big fan and had many huge posters of her on the walls in my room when I was a teenager in the 80ies ...
Kim Wilde & CAMBODIA for ever in my heart !!!
💖💖💖
Hey, Dereck! So cool you reacted to Kim Wilde. She's one of my favorite artists. Kids in America is truly a huge classic. However, Kim Wilde has a vast discography and she's one of UK's most-charted female artists. There's so much to react to like Cambodia, View from a Bridge, Chequered Love, Child Come Away, Love Blonde, The Second Time, The Touch, You Keep Me Hangin' On, Another Step (Closer to You), You Came, Four Letter Word, Never Trust a Stranger, It's Here, Love Is Holy, Heart Over Mind, Who Do You Think You Are, etc. Also, her last studio albums are great and kind of remind you of Kim's early music. Also, I noticed how you commented about the seriousness of Kim Wilde. In her early years this was part of her image, looking all serious with pouty lips and all. Then, she shed that image and she's actually quite smiley. She's a sweetheart. Lastly, as a curious fact that I know it will interest you, Kim's birthday is on November 18th. She's a Scorpio like you.
Love, love, love this song! Great memories in the 80’s dance clubs.
Kim has a great catalog. She did a more recent version of the song, she is really popular in Europe. Her niece Scarlett Wilde does background vocals on her more recent music. They are really are a talented musical family. I love her song "Second Time".
Approved!
‘You Came’ is her best song. Very ABBA-like and catchy.
Oh what a great stuff. I often asked myself why there are so less Kim Wilde reactions. She’s fantastic, many hits. My favorite is: you came. Love this sooo much and I guess you‘ll too. Greatings from Berlin.
Also LOVE her 'Cambodia', 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' and 'Dancing in the Dark' :)
My sixteen years !!!beautiful song who’s make me dancing again ! Beautiful Kim Wilde, eyes hairdress voice !!!
I saw her in concert in 2018 - naturally, they finished with this song. As a 17-year-old, when this came out, I was completely in lust with Kim Wilde. One of the amazing things is that her brother, Ricky, who does the "Wo-ohs" in the chorus, is still producing her. She lives not all that far from where I live now - there is some footage of her busking to this song just before Christmas about 4 years ago on a commuter train from London into Hertfordshire...and, you should listen to "Cambodia", which, though it didn't even make the top 10 in the UK (whereas "Kids in America" make it to number 2 here), is an absolute work of art...
Wooow merci Dereck une de mes artistes préférée des années 80 elle est belle et chante bien 👍👏💖Kim Wilde 'love
Was once on first name terms with this lady when she used to stay at a hotel I worked in 😁😉 she's a great person and a great artist
A few years ago she was going home with her brother Ricky on the tube (London’s underground) after the Magic FM radio Christmas party. Let’s just say! She enjoyed herself 🍸 😂
So Ricky and her starting having a sing-song, they sang Kids In America & Rocking Around The Christmas Tree. Being they were on the tube some of the other passengers just wanted to look at the floor and not join in lol, but some of them did & it’s on CZcams, just search Kim Wilde drunk lol.
Enjoy!
This song was a part of my teen years' soundtrack. When I was 16 I heard it on the radio for the first time and ran out to the record store to buy the 7" single.
Kim Wilde’s sister Roxy worked as Kylie Minogue’s tour backing singer for a couple of years! She was considered like a British Blondie.
At this time i loved two women singer , Blondie ( Deborah Harry ) and Kim wild (kim Smith ).I liked ,a kids in America (in 1981 I was 12 yeras old ) and the others tittle of kim that i like a lot it's " view from a bridge"
In france we have an great singer "Laurent Voulzy " who had made an song about kim (with kim in the text and voice ,in this clip she speak in french ) named "les nuits sans kim wilde" . Thank's Dereck for the memory 👍😃
saw Kim at the Hammersmith Odeon early 80's, great gig. Would recommend Fergal Sharkey's "A Good Heart" another excellent song and vid
I love her coolness of the 80th. Why smile, there is no reason why. Well done, Kate.
Kim Wilde has some great songs from the 80s... Try "You came", or "Love blonde", two of her greatest hits and worth a reaction video. Best wishes : Gerry !
PS : When is the next Aurora reaction ? I recommended "It happened quiet" from Nidarosdomen a week ago...
Depeche Mode everything counts - master ans servant- shake the disease _ question of Time
Shake the disease. for sure.
Listen "You came" When she made the first part of Michael Jackson's concert !
Her cover of You Keep me Hangin' on is amazing.
Kim Wilde sister Roxanne Wilde was Kylie minogue backing singer from 2008 till 2017
one of my fav songs that kim did was the 1988 #3 uk hit YOU CAME. the 12" mix is AMAZING!!! or the hd live version video.a great highlight and her remake of you keep me hanging on
ah great dereck! i love kim wilde i can tell you that you have a bunch of songs to discover from her! everything is perfect. i was waiting impatiently for you to tackle this singer lol friendship from france.
You gotta react to kim wilde - Cambodia next 👍👍
I love Kim wilde and Kids in America
Aaaaaaah you did it Dereck 🙌🙌 Thanks 😁 ✌️Kim Wilde ❤️❤️❤️
She's got big hands and dirty nails but I love her, and her Dad, Marty, was a 60's schmoozer. Her brother, Ricky, was a band member ❤💚❤💚
Brilliant and a pure classic - LOVE IT !
Icon of the 80s and fantasy of many teenagers at the time. Good sound, solid songs, she's the typical emblem of English pop
the duet with Nena is fantastic
One of my favourite 80's artist
She's still performing and recording - also her sister Roxy was Kylie's backing singer on the Aphrodite tour you reacted to
Kim Wilde chequered love - Cambodia
Cambodia not Cambogia!
@@jevousemmerdetouslesthunde2391 it's my finger not my head, sorry for the sacrilege!:)
@@connexionnature4583 No excuse! ^^ lol ☺
Best Kim Wilde song, in my opinion... Amazing intro, indeed! She created an incredible atmosphere, can listen that 100 times. And more :)
This is absolutely, definitely, indubitably, definitively, the version we wanted!!! xxx
Hi Dereck! I knew you'd love this 80's song! Even if it's not the right music video ( I don't like TV shows), this song is a GEM like you said! It's my CHILDHOOD! The "new-wave" sound as I like! Catchy song, heady melody. It makes you want to sing! I understand why this HIT was NO.1 or in the TOP 5 or 10 in Europe or well-ranked in USA.
Another song the same year or in 1982 whose intro is "shattering" and you'll like : CAMBODIA!!!! To die! In France, this song is widely broadcast on radios with " You keep me Hangin' On" in 1986 ( a cover ( a cover of The Supremes), but I much prefer KIDS IN AMERICA for the slayed SOUND and CAMBODIA my favs and too in 1982 View From A bridge", it rocks the house, and you'll lose your pants!!!! lol Very 80's, synths, drums, catchy, fast rhythm especially, and reverbs.
Whether CAMBODIA or VIEW FROMA BRIDGE, I hesitate so much they are both too good! Maybe different but in terms of sound it rocks!
It doesn't matter which one you choose next but the songs from the beginnings are too good: Dancing In The Dark ( even Nile Rodgers remixed this song!), Love Blonde (1983), The Second Time ( Go For It) in 1984: very 80's with slayed synths!!!!, The Touch (1984), You Came and Never Trust In Stranger (1988), and finally in 1990: Can'T Get Enough ( very rock with synths!!!) with "Ooohhh oooohh ooohhh", very fast rythm and the guitar riff you'll like: " Can'T get Enough... Of Your Love ♪♫♪...that's right!"....
Thanks Dereck. ☺
Such an American song from an English girl that had never been to America 😂 Shows how influential Hollywood is. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Depeche mode dude! They are the grandfathers of synth!
Kim's debut came out months before the first DM disc, so she gets the crown!
back in the day ! was 14yo! this melody ! 1981...already 40 years ago
I love Kim Wilde❤️She's so beautiful,talented & humble 💖💖💖And also she IS beautiful 😃🎃
This is the actual Music Video for this song. I was in my teens and 20s during the 80s and MTV played
this video all the time.
this is the original version of "Kids in America" / Kim Wilde one of my 80's & 90's fav !!!! I still love her so much & listen all her songs ... If you love this one, try "Checkered Love" , "Water on Glas", "Love Blond", You Keep me hanging on", "Rage to Love", "The Second Time", "Another Step (closer to you)", "The Touch", "Cambodia", "European Soul" and sooooo much more !!
Really loved your video my first one from you
Definitely worth checking out 'You Came', 'Never Trust a Stranger', 'Million Miles Away' & 'Who Do You Think You Are'. Been to see her live and she's fantastic. Was supposed to see her again at the end of last year but COVID stopped that happening! As well as performing she's still releasing music and one of the tracks I loved that she did was 'Kandy Krush' in 2018. Well worth a listen.
yes ! thanks cute american guy!! You are in Europe at the 80 '....Kim was a huge star !! Listen her best song "you came " ...And if you want some more europeans hits listen : Sandra "maria magdalena " ,spagna "call me " or samantha fox "nothing gonna stop me now ! "
Thank you! Huge reaction! No surprise cause Kim is so talented and this song so brilliant and catchy. Her daddy was a big british artist whose greatest worldwide hit is an outstanding song called "Bad boy". You should check it out. A little anecdote: there's a french singer Laurent Voulzy which is a huge fan of Kim. He recorded an ode to her, titled "Les nuits sans Kim Wilde" ( = The nights without Kim Wilde) in that song Kim sings several, times "Play the game" and "Take it easy" and also some sentences in French. It's an 80th awesome song, I'm sure you'll love it. czcams.com/video/aiKXqSXicG4/video.html
Kim Wilde was the hottest British singer ❤
This is the original 1981 version-great choice!
Kim's amazing! Saw her in concert a few years ago, the synths were out of this world, her live shows are something else.
Love this video
Sound of my youth...local fair grounds and on the waltzer with this blasting out! God Kim was soooo beautiful.
Hey Derek, this song was in an 80's movie called "Reckless." It starred Aidan Quinn and Daryl Hannah. This is a fantastic song. You should REALLY CHECK OUT ROMEO VOID and their song: "Never Say Never."
Yes, Romeo Void! Awesome song!!
I remember hearing on the top of pops when she said she was the same day of live on tv and hitting out of park
She did a killer Supremes remake of You Keep Me Hangin On
OMD is a band and you should know their discography. It’s epic synths.
Bien hecho 👏 el video este bien explicado
Yeah CAMBODIA is the one to check out.
A lot of people thought she was American cos of the song but she's English. Cracking tune and a great singer who had a lot of great hits. Now does gardening for a living! Cool! There's a great video of her on the London tube a few years ago - a bit drunk lol but it was Xmas - singing along to the guitar playing this czcams.com/video/3Ij8BpOa-Pg/video.html She's still great.
The beautiful Kim Wilde !
Yes, Kim Wild is so pretty .. I prefere "View from a bridge". WIth the guys at the guitars so typical from 80's.
Approved!
People haven`t yet mentioned her father 50`s Rock and Roller Marty Wilde, perhaps you could check out some of his stuff as well.
Great Reaction, Dereck! Yay Melody! ha. please react to her very sexy Man Candy filled video of ' Say You Really Want Me' Big 80s Club hit. Kim W was channelling Kim Basinger in the movie ' 9 & 1/2 Weeks'
Kim's dad Marti Wilde was a big star in the 60's, you would possibly recognise some of his songs to.
Kids in America is my Favorite
I love kim
Her Stoic posturę is indicative of The Rebelliousness of the 80's
Kim Wildes best song in my opinion is Cambodia... Please give it a listen. And I would love if you could react to Modern Talking Locomotion tango, lady lai, jet airliner or Atlantis is calling
I prefer " Cambodia"... À French singer, really fan and in love for her, sang a song for her and with her, it was Laurent WOULZY🎶 " les nuits sans Kim wilde" 😂 🎶 good song, you should love it...
Found Kim Wilde song the other day ,new version of If I Can`t Have You. Enjoy.
Great outro!
Does anyone else feel like Nick Cage is going to come out from behind the drums like he's shooting a scene from Valley Girl? Or Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool?
together we belong, and lights down low are really good songs from kim wilde, also any place any time with nena.
Kim’s awesome (and a huge ABBA fan). I loved her stuff, especially ‘Cambodia’. //Still no Duran Duran? Tisk.
Yaasssss!!!!!
She’s on tour in the U.K. hopefully after you t was cancelled because of Covid. Love Kim Wilde
OMD=Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. We saw their Enola gay on Dereck reacts.
ha ha ha ha Derek you missed out my friend 1981 10. Million Teenage Boys ( im one of them ? ) all of us in Love with Kim Wilde ...???? She was the one Poster Girl hanging on ourer Bedroom Walls back than...???? Sniff/tears 40 Years ago...??? Great amazing song......
She’s still hit and making records 40 years on. Kim Wilde was the last concert I attended in December 2019 in a cave before the world closed for COVID. Check out one of her latest offerings from I think it was 2018 czcams.com/video/WlwW9Vr6Rm8/video.html
Her version of 'You Keep Me Hangin' On'.
I remember this video from my mtv days when I was preteenager.
You should try Maybe I’m Crazy, she did an amazing job on that song
Review Cambodia and Four Letter word, both classic underrated tunes ;)
Chequered Love was a great second single also.
