I love good trail rides, natural style terrain w/ good climbs, technical sections, and great scenery. I am not into flow and jump trails, I am a Wheels on the Ground kinda guy at my age. I don't bounce like I use to when I screw up and make a bad line choice.

Before I learned some of the skills with MTB riding, it was fun, but intimidating. After having gained a few more skills, it definitely improves the fun factor and it opens me up to more trails. Also, I ride flat pedals which gives me a little more confidence on the rough stuff. When I was riding clipped in, I would walk a lot of the really technical stuff.

For me XC is the way to go - gravel biking feel like a compromise between speedy road rides and proper mountain trails. I've got 2 bikes - a light weight road and an full suspension XC one.

The spaghetti story was good. 20 to 25 years ago I used to ride mountain bikes almost exclusively... Then I went to Europe and I was bitten by the 700c drop bar bug. More recently getting into cyclocross and gravel riding is like coming full circle. And it's rad! But I am thinking about getting a new hardtail...

Great ride DK! Just right about what I like to do few times a week. I'll slide in a couple gravel rides also, so nice to mix both up to keep it interesting. I may ride Park or Freeride a few times per summer purely for the pucker factor and challenge!🤣Highly recommended you try the same for pure gold content!
