I am a fare skinned red headed autistic woman without intellectual disabilities diagnosed with four other disabilities outside of my autism. If I don't wear my Badger's Unscented Zinc Oxide sunscreen in my hair and scalp when it is sunny and hot outside, I will end up with my hair and scalp burning later in the day and I will complain how much it hurts afterwards because to me it feels like my hair and scalp are burning on fire. Aloe Vera is a very good remedy for skin that got sunburned.
I honestly never thought of how sunburn might affect sensory processing but that makes perfect sense once you say it. The sunscreen you use looks really good. It looked like a good day was had by all, glad your summer is going so well.
So glad you make every effort not to let B get a sunburn - I bet that would feel awful for someone whose sensory processing was off kilter, let alone all the effects sunburn has on anyone. Where I live, we are under an ozone hole and so the sun is much stronger. ‘Slip slop slap’ (slip into the shade, slop on the sunscreen, slap on a hat) was absolutely drilled into us when I was a kid 😊.
I haven’t kept up with you guys in a couple of months, BECAUSE TIME FLIES, but I can’t believe how much more mature Braylee looks! She’s like a little lady now! When did this happen???
A case of be careful with the sun! Anybody can get burned, even someone with sensory processing disorder. (Just a quick note: I've never been sunburned despite not wearing sunscreen.)
blue lizard DID not for us ... we BOTH got burned and my daughter has autism and sensory processing disorder. I used solar cane on her burn as sun lotion but.. the blue lizard never helped.
@desireeglynn6230 You may want to try any of the unscented Badger's zinc oxide sunscreens that are non nano, but doesn't make your face etc.. white. I don't get sunburned in my hair and scalp, may face, arms, neck and ears when I remember to put it on at least every two hours after putting it on in the morning before I go to work part time as a front service clerk (bagger) at my local Publix.
2:22 The Stranger Things reference 🤣🤣 5:31 Being Canadian, I've never seen that brand of sunscreen here, but I use something similar. A sunscreen stick by Garnier Ombrelle
Can I ask how does she do with like bugs that land on her. Her hair that falls out on her skin. I hate my hair when like a piece of hair lands on my arm or anywhere. Drives me insane and bothers me
