Thanks for doing this video. I've been tooing and froing on whether I wanted to fork out the dough on this, and after listening to your video I've managed to secure the last available copy at my local record store. I just know thus would be a huge regret if I passed it up now!
Hey man. Very cool, waiting for mine !! As an aside, any gatefolds out there do not split as or while you’re opening the album. The crackling noise is normal on the first open. It happens because sometimes the LP slides back and forth in shipping and the concentricity of the LP pierces the laminated paper right in the middle of the inner spine.
Wow that’s a phenomenal looking box set!! I’m really impressed with the attention to detail! I happy you were able to get it! Happy spinning brother 👍🤘🤘
Hi JC!! cool unboxing and thanks for the needle drop, that's an incredible qulity product for the diehard Tool's fans and with a big wallet too.... cheers and be well
Nice review Josh! This is a massive reason as to why I don't wanna collect vinyl. Yes it looks fantastic and they really put a lot effort into it, but it's so expensive!! Though Tool are one of those bands where everything is so expensive. Even the CD of Fear Inoculum is £37 at the cheapest!!! Just ridiculous Not stopping anyone from buying it though, because it looks an awesome piece of art to have 😊🤘 Just as long as you think it's worth it man
@@theflipside-vinylcommunity also since you threw the pound currency system there's a lot of records that we in the USA have, and vice-versa. I paid decent money a few times for pressings we didn't get here. Like Everlast "Whitey Ford sings the blues " Nope there was no LP release here in America. In other word you could be a savvy shopper and learn about 1990s LP pressings and scoring them cheap and flipping them.
@@Stupid_you_so_stoopid_UHF yeah I guess I could buy some for investment, just to sell on. But then I would turn into one of those fake fans that ruin it for the real fans, not sure if I could really do that. My parents have a lot of OG vinyl's from the 80's, so you could say they're my investment. Or will be one day!
@@Stupid_you_so_stoopid_UHF you replying to me here? If so, I guess there's a huge market for rare vinyl's and people would pay a lot for them. Honestly it's something I've not thought about, but I guess it's a pretty good way to make some money. I'll definitely keep it in mind
I will say the packaging looks really nice. That book is sweet. I don’t get all the etching but it looks cool. I can’t really comment on the sound because I’m watching on my phone. I’ll have to listen while watching this on my tv. Nicely done unboxing video!
Great video JC! I’m not a huge Tool fan so I won’t be running out to buy it. Not crazy about the single sided vinyl. I may have considered picking it up if they just pressed it on two or three LP’s and sold it for $60 or less.
5:30 - I don't think you have to worry about it too much - it looks like you already have all their albums on Vinyl (unless your Aenema is a bootleg)... and they take 13 years between albums... I'd gladly pay $160 for an official 10,000 Days or Aenema with this treatment
Huge appreciation for you doing this video with the needle drop. Thanks! Ngl, I find this box set on the one hand beautiful and impressive, on the other hand incredibly over-the-top obnoxious. $150+ to own this album on vinyl. Plus making something so insanely ornate has to gum up an already overtaxed vinyl industry that much more. I wish they had put out a 2LP (or 2LP + single sided if necessary) right away and given non-oligarchs a chance to get it at a reasonable price, and only then gone all out. Plus, waiting for a slightly more sane cover/pressing plant situation would presumably benefit everyone. Idk, the whole thing just strikes me as selfish. Having said all that, the thing is really gorgeous. The liner notes are ambiguous, but appear to state that this was digitized before cutting. If that's the case, what a wasted opportunity after having recorded and mixed to analog tape. Plus, a podcast interview with the engineer implied the vinyl would be AAA. Do you have concrete info one way or another? Thanks again. I hope my complaints are not a bummer, as this is a great video you've put together.
I totally agree with you. Quite expensive. The first release of fear inoculum started a war. The one with charger and lcd screen. First of all prices changed everyday and it was a limited release for about 100€,$,£. It was better that they released a normal version that was affordable for everyone. But on the other hand it’s a stunning version.
"Incision" like you are performing surgery. I like it. Box looks awesome and the artwork is what I would expect. Sounds good through YT so I hope it sounds awesome when I crank mine up when I get it. I really just want a nice 2-disc set of Aenima. No etchings, maybe a booklet with some artwork, but simple and sweet without the fluff. It would keep the cost down at least.
Nice one there, I have been sniffing on this one, but it's pretty big penny, the overall look is really nice, great product, but if it was released as normal I believe I would have picked that one instead of a box with one sided play. Cheers
Relief palpable as you realised no major disc damage🙂 How sad that one thinks this way in 2022, but it is indeed the norm. Fair play you getting it one day before official release day, btw.
I see you took the leap. Congrats. Never thought I'd be telling someone congrats for buying a darn vinyl record, but there it is.😄It is TooL and there is no telling if or when they release anything else. So smart move in my opinion. They are just a phenomenal band. Great packaging it appears. Glad it's on black vinyl at least. I kind of like the etching stuff. Pretty cool. Rush had some vinyl's with etching back in the day I think. No problems that I know of with mine. I think they had it on there reissue of 2112 too, can't remember though. I liked the original pressing better though depending on the pressing plant. I just got my box set today. Great job on the video. Do you run your turntable through a EQ or anything? Just wondering.
@@theflipside-vinylcommunity Can you tell me your opinion on the quality of the pressings you got. I threw mine on the TT last night and was disappointed a little in the pressing quality of my box set. LP2 had a slight scratch in it. 3-5 were pretty noisy from start to about 30 seconds in. Sound quality though was very pleasing, just the pressing quality was a little under whelming. What was your experience as far as this goes?
@@theflipside-vinylcommunity Awesome! I have to wonder if there were more than one pressing plant for these. I did order two sets, so the other one will stay sealed.
