Anno 2205: Construction Guide - City Layouts + Public Buildings

- The famous series of city builders celebrates the release of a new installment. Anno 2205 aims to reinvent the commercially successful franchise.
Designing a proper layout for the cities might prove difficult. I created this small video and hope it will help you ;)
►Game: Anno 2205
►Perspective: Felix (Kebablord)
►Graphics Settings: Max. Settings - Hry
I thought I was pretty good at this game until I saw this video. That is gorgeous. It looks amazing, really well done.
Great video, one of the things I was thinking of that it seems like many city building games have not figured out is that entertainment should be regional not local... what rich executive wants to live next to a stadium? None, entertainment should have a larger ranged rather than right next to residential buildings.
THANK YOU sooo much. This is TRULY OF GREAT HELP. You THE BEST at explaining about the game play. Hope you make more
Now this, is one brilliant piece of German engineering...!!
A really useful video , Thanks, and it seems that there is much in the HQ Video too .. i really liked your "Main Approach" you did in front of the HQ .... looks like a real City , Capital city :D
Thanks again ;)
always glad to help ;)
Never built a city as successful as that on any anno game. You're clearly very good at this. I'm hoping with more time to play 1800 I'll get this good.
You are a genious ! Thank you so much for your, very clear, video
Thanks for the guide!
Amazing! Thank you so much 😊
Danke! Gives me a great starting point
always glad to be of service ;)
Great video! Thank you
Thanks! Dankeschön!
Love this German efficiency :D
Thank you soooooo much
Great video. I was struggling with layout. I have only been playing for 2 weeks so still unfamiliar with city layouts.
wel lthen let's hope it will help you :D
geiler typ!
Thank you
thx a lot ;) you are cool
:3
Damn I'm trying to move around the map with my right mouse button whilst watching it.
I started playing 2205 again this week after it sitting for years in my library. I noticed you didn't mention that the Capitol Building itself it only one initial section of its entire possible complex. Clicking on the building once built offers up a few 1x1 segment choices that themselves provide more public building access if they are also built. They can extend behind and to the sides, but then the skies the limit up to 32 or 33 pieces or something.
If you've ever played 1800, that Capitol building also has segments that extend services. Same kinda thing.
Nice guide. i tested this layout on Anno Designer.
Very simple and practical and have still higher Space-efficiency.
imho, i found the combination of
[2x4 =8 of large houses] + [2x5 =10 of large houses]
is better for me.
Because , it let me make some prime number.
6x5 = 30 tiles (instead of 24 tiles.
)
When i kill the intersection to get +1 length (like you did it for info-dome),
it makes 30+1 = 31 tile length.
31 is the prime number, and worth in layouting and optimizing.
Could you share a screen from your layout?

Dank dir!
immer wieder gern :P
How did I missed you :-)
hey man, in which series of yours do you build the capital city at 6:43, where you show the monument ? I really like the layout and I want to copy it
Should be Season 1 since Season 2 started in August.
Here is the link to the Season 1 Playlist:

thx!
I came here too late but i find a way for the stadium. Sacrifice 8 "big houses" and put the stadium in the middle. Build road around it and you still have space for some little houses all around it.
Does anyone know how to jump to/find a particular building? Say for example I need to add a production module to Nano Ceramics, but can't remember where I put it?
Tell me how I can plan out a grid like yours when I'm just starting out for the first time with everything locked?
This comment is most likly to late but only use the smaller houses untill u unlock the bigger versions. Then u can redesign the housing area with the new house sizes in mind. As u unlock the later and bigger buildings like the Stadium, Astronaut complex or the Metro station u kinda have to destroy houses unless u already have a planned spot for them. Some of them are late game and planning for them in the beginning is not needed. 1 way i try to get around this is to not mass upgrade the houses in the center. But instead try to upgrade the ppl near the edges. That way u can build the next public building right next to the ppl that needs it instead of having it near your workers or to destroy houses to find a good spot. This needs planning from the start to do or u kinda have to destroy houses.
Should I have at least 1 trading center in each city like one in the artic and another in arid region and so on? Or is one sufficient.
dont suppose theres guides for the attic, Luna and space station as well?
I wish there was same guide for production layout.
will probably never happen since the production ratios shift quite often due to technology and stock market
Im going with building an empire not caring about the look then going back once i have everything to change it all to look neat and tidy, i own all corporations so no more competition own all the sectors think ill use your design for mine going to take a bloody while tho :(
Can you share what you did for the artic?
Can you do another video for cities in the Arctic and on the Moon?
I would love to but unfortunately I did not find a proper general layout for both yet. Especially in the arctic zone I am mostly improvising :/
I don't recognize some buiding and buttons there. Is that a mod or part of some dlc?
Wow never knew the game has rainbows! 13:53
Grid cities really efficient but its really basic so normally people would try to hide the grid be making all building high rise. Can u make an industrial cargo hub if u can ( im also want to know if that map have an ocean cus I can't see one) =3
well if you upgrade the buildigns you can barely see the patterns especiall when it is broken up with the public buildings. we saw in the capital how that works :3
unfortunately anno 2205 gives me no harbor buildings and no industrial deko buildings. in 2070 it would have been possible, unfortunately not here :/ and yes the map has an ocean. just look at the minimap ;)
I can get face on, to work, at som fair level. BUT!!!! after that, I am lost. The ice world ( atlantic ) f... up all. I like a fair play for a new player for like the first 3 levels.....or wgat els I need to know. BUT!!. that ICE world dose f.... up my game. I cant get it to work. I dont know what to do.... HELP PLEASE
i dont undedrstand how can u know where to place your public buildings if u cant see any area of influence????!
u seemed to not like ur capital but i rather liked it even though u said u mixed it up abit in some bits. only just got 2205 other day and it's deffo different from 2070 especially layouts aren't as much as 2070 which is a shame really :(
ur layouts looked nice, i hope u will have a site or somewhere where u post ur layouts to share maybe?
anyways great video, +1
well the capital was basically standard i did not really have an idea what to do when i started building it. as season 2 shows i would have built it differently if i have had mroe knowledge about the game^^
yeah 2205 is very different from 2070. but in the other hand: it would be boring if you could just repeat layouts.
the issue with the layouts in 2205 is that the buildings change their production values throughout the game. tehrefor layouts that work in the beginning are inefficient in the end. doing specific production layout tutorials tehrefor would unfortunately be rather pointless or an incredible amount of work :/
a website is actually currently under construction. i will fill it with reviews, tutorials and layouts for other games. if you want to check the current status out, you can find it here: www.ungentlemanly-warfare.com/
yeah suppose u got a point, guess i was so used to 2070 mechanics that going into 2205 felt strange and lost haha
cheers man, will check them out :)
keep up the work mate, doing well!
ASYella yeah the difference between 2070 and 2205 should not be underestimated^^
i will :P
but i got to admit 2205 has some good querks about it, like modueles and community buildings don't need to be near them which is less headache haha
and also the multimap on one game which is a real nice touch indeed!
ASYella yeah but i nreturn it also has issues. i miss multipalyer, true ai opponents (all characters here are forgettable), the sector map results in many loading times during which the game continues, which can cause issues. the combat system is too bland etc.
but in return: anno never had a better flow regarding construction and production :P
Eigener Versorgungssektor?
nicht nur einer :P
Which button do you use to make a screenshot?
printscreen ;)
How did you build all this. PLEASE help me..... I like this game, but I dont get it... HELP
And I would like somone to make a video on how in the H.... to make the Atlantic ( face 2 in this game ) to work. No matter what I do, I get in too truble here. HELP.. Thanks
Do you have a map layout to download of this island?
Nope unfortunately not
how do you turn the buildings around? please. i don't know how ;(
with , and . if i am not mistaken. atm i am more into 1404 and 2070 and there that are the keys.
u can change these in keyboard options to suit ur needs
Plan on doing something similar for Arctic and Lunar areas?
if i ever can figure out a proper layout: yes^^
League of Ungentlemanly Warfare
Alright. I can understand that arctic is rather troublesome, Lunar seems easier, given that thiey only need shield-coverage and the big shield-generators are fairly great, still....
ServantOfOdin yeah once i figure out a layout that i can recommend ;) atm i am wasting a lot of space.
League of Ungentlemanly Warfare Heh, I know that problem. Lacking ornaments or parking space or any such things, space is going to get wasted there, I'm afraid. Especially with the Arctic and their heating restrictions... Best of luck finding a "most efficient" way, I'm sure many are eager to see your solution.
the layout with the information building removing the road looks ugly. Dont remove the road, just add smaller houses
You sound German.. if you are.. (found this video just today) then your build MUST be legit Germans are crazy good at a lot of things
does it matter if the community were put together? and what difficulty were you playing as your earning crazy loads
with community you mean public buildings? if yes: yep it does. the game counts a basic value for the public building and ads a bonus for each house being reached. but if a house is already reached by another public building of the same type it does not add up. so you have to choose: either you use many public buildings in one place (adding the base values up) or a few public buildinsg being spreaded all over the city to utilize all the bonusses.
for this vid it was only silver difficulty but i also made a LP series (season 2) on max difficulty
League of Ungentlemanly Warfare would you recommend the use of biocatalyst or any of the 2x production boost? financial wise that is
depends on your goal. those are mainly meant for saving space. if you have a well-running eco: sure why not? since money is something you have way too much in the end, even on highest difficulty
League of Ungentlemanly Warfare Im trying to plan up to be able to finish Veteran in 10hrs or less for the achievements
how do you define "finish" in this game? XD
how did you un cap the credits?!?! :D
Didn't. The Cap is on this company level at 13.3 million Cr.
:)
What do you think about these layouts? imgur.com/a/v0MeM
the plant-layouts are quite good but i fear that with orbit they have become obselete.
the housing layouts are nice. i perosnally love everything that has clear citycenters and so on. the only problem i see here with that is that it is not as modular as my approach. but i can imagine that it actually looks better than mine :)
thanks for the link!
It's a very good explanation but 22 mins is too long. You could condense the information into 4-5, then it'll be easier to watch.
i agree. but fot that i would simply need more practise :P
You have a german accent, do you come from germany :D?
i would be really disappointed if peopel would NOT notice :D
yep 100% german quality product :P
Nice xD
help me.... please. I dont get this game at all
Despite the year 2205, becoming a billionaire is impossible, even with millions working under you. If there were mods, I'm sure with only a few to several thousand employee you could make billions. The Mod version of Big 5 are Samsung, Microsoft, Apple, Sony, and Hyundai? Most of the population would have to be customers than employees for that to happen.
Unfortunately we don't have mod-support for this game.
Also Anno is set in a parallel universe, those companies probably never existed there. (and you forgot google and amazon ;) )
Wo hast du so gut englisch gelernt?
And how do you win these f..cked up intervention missions....??
Which exactly do you mean? The combat missions? Well destory the enemy ships and complete the objectives... i honestly never had trouble with any mission in this game... So if you give me more infos, i might be able to help you
Yeah, I meast the combat missions. On easy the are just that, easy. But at the second difficulty level, I lost all 4 ships within 30 seconds. I had no chance what so ever. Got jumped the second out of the gate by 8 really strong ships.. Where is the built up in difficulty...? It just goes from 1 to 1000 in fuck all seconds...
yeah the difficulty change adds a multiplier. you should really only choose the advanced ones once you have upgraded your fleet several times
I thought I got the hang of this game down, then I watch this video and see +900k income and say fuck it. I quit
lol maybe dont sweat it, this guys on like GrandMaster level with Anno and likely has Thousands of hours under his belt.
I was doing so well with my income.. then fucking going to the moon happened and i Have +3000 and I am trying to get a project done in a sector that requires me to have a +30k income.. like wtf?
30k is actually in the mid-game of anno 2205 already a small number.
the moon is super cost-intensive and usually sets you back (income wise) by 60-80 %. that is normal. continue to build your city and you will see it is worth it and you will reach easily a million income later.
In Season II of this LP I had simialr issues^^
League of Ungentlemanly Warfare I can't continue to build my city when they demand so any neuros from artic, and biotech from the moon, and those facilities cost so much. Bought 2 new regions to help make up the cost and I still suck. I can't figure out where to place or designate buildings worth a fuck to utilize the maximum amount of space possible.
***** well that is the challenge with anno ;)
-One thing that might work is to find a large-ish island in a temperate sector, and fill it completely with worker houses. Then work on fulfilling their needs, one at a time. This should give you a decent income to play around with. Start upgrading as many of the houses as you can, and only once you've reached this limit start working on fulfilling their needs as well.
-Focus on consumer products that can be made entirely in the temperate zone first. If it requires a resource from the arctic or the moon (especially the moon), try and see if buying it from the Global Union tradecenter isn't cheaper.
-Create as little moon-to-earth trading routes as possible. They're expensive. If you need the same kind of item in several Earth sectors, ship them all down to one sector, and then distribute them from there.
-Build as little in the arctic and on the moon as possible. These sectors are going to be a net loss on their own, and they're supposed to be support areas to prop up your temperate cities. Build exactly what you need, and not a thing more.
-In a similar vein, don't try to build large populations in the arctic or on the moon. Trying to supply large cities there will take a lot of work to make profitable, and they'll take up precious water and mining slots that you'll need to get resources that benefit your temperate regions. Drone racks are you best friend. Five drone racks on a building reduces their worker requirement to 1. This allows you to build lots of production structures with very minimal housing.
-Finance calculators are awesome. These can be built on any power-generating structure, and cut down the maintenance cost by 10% each (up to half). If you're taking part in the elections, if Lei Shen gets elected, their finance calculators cut down cost by 20% each, and you get ten of these modules per election they win.
-Investor needs might look daunting, but they give so much cash it's worth it. Once your basics are established, trying to get as many investors as possible, and keeping them all fully satisfied might cost a ton at first, but is going to make your income skyrocket.
There's several other tips to cut corners on cost that might help you keep a sizeable income, but I can't think of them right now. Hope these help for now.
In general I agree, though there is one thing that depends on the settings: Administration cost.
The more people you have of the same type, the less profitable they become. If administration cost are activated, I'd refrain from tip #1
Built my city similar but using small houses and a 6x2 grid:
imgur.com/a/QT1YJ
wait... 2mil people on veteran? i bow before you, master! :D
Rushing for heavy industry orbit helped a lot = sheared building mats.
Also reduced goods for people and the agriculture tree.
Wakakenaka true that. atm i am working on doing that myself in my second run^^
For clarity, that's a 3x2 grid, not 6x2.
So much of this game they just don’t explain at all and the tool tips are often no help whatsoever. I’m -300,000 on my moon base. I build more houses and then they eat too much and I need more food. Then I make more food and my profit goes back down. I can’t win lol. Luckily my earth base covers for it but I’m not sure how I managed that.
it is actually meant that way: only the earth-cities are profitable. the other zones are just production-colonies and almost always a net-loss
@@LeagueofUngentlemanlyWarfare well. I guess I should get rid of my craters full or just housing to try and generate revenue because I have significantly more people living there than necessary.
I heard only the starting areas are profitable and the rest are pretty much money sinks. Thus your starting locations will eventually be used purely for housing while the other locations are used for resource gathering. Then you just send those resources back to your housing zones.
14:05 You speak like A.D.A.M. >_
aside from my little confusion in the middle of the sentence it was on purpose :P
@@LeagueofUngentlemanlyWarfare Loved it. -- Also good tips I will use in my game. Thanks >_
da ist jemand Deutsch xD
ja mein accent ist relativ hart^^
much communist blocks
well if yo uwant to play efficiently... ^^
Anno isn't a game to be min/maxed. Its a game to chill.
i think that is a question that every player should answer for himself.
Anno is a beautiful blend of city management and resource management. It gives you the tools and ability to create serene, aesthetic landscapes on purpose. Anno, while always having a degree of competition, and an element of war, has never really been a great game in terms of combat. There are other games for that. Anno tends to focus more on the city building/resource management aspect, and without viciously hostile competition there isn't a need to min/max. It is simply a game where one can go and enjoy their time creating aesthetically pleasing cities, along with managing the resources for those cities. In fact, evidence of this is the absence of multiplayer in 2205 compared to 2070.
all of your points are correct and i woudl never dare to deny these but you forgot one thing: the player.
there are different player types that use the stuff a game gives them in their own way (that for example explains partially how the hunger games mods were born in minecraft).
i personally thrive in competition (though not war). i simply want to achieve more than others with the same means. that is why i have such an personal issue with 2205: there is no true competition. i understand why they changed the focus and need to accept that i am not in their target group anymore but still.
still i can try to build the largest cities, to have the most inhabitants and for that i need to play efficiently. i don't play for chilling or building something beautiful. to be honest: i actually can't, that is not how my mind works. Still Anno 2205, despite having some issues, is still a game that i enjoyed and was able to play the way i wanted.
you may say teh game is about chill, i say it is about efficiency (and older annos were about competition). in the end we are both correct since the game offers us enough tools to play it the way we want.
This video was so annoying. You are just delaying the real information so that you can have a longer video...
oh sorry that i dare to explain the total basics to absolute newcomers. and btw at that time i was super new to youtube, therefor i was nervous and excited. but sure if you can do perfect videos instantly, then show us your talent.
and your comment shows that you totally did not inform yourself about me and my channel. i am not doing it for clicks or video length (if that was the case i woudl play different games and not anno). i play what i deem fun. i invite the community to enjoy these games with me together but i will never bend my behaviour just to please viewers or get the maximum profit out of the videos.
I enjoyed it, hell, I'm not even new to anno, i played all of them yet I still enjoyed your video!
Don't mind the internetheroes!
