  • How to strike an arc with 6010 Lincoln Ranger 225!!!
    Have you ever wondered how to strike and arc with 6010 and if a Lincoln Ranger will even be able to hold a arc with 6010? well watch this video and find out!
    In this video I show striking an arc and how to weld with 6010, and the basics of how to run an pad of beads for surfacing which I will go into detail in the future videos I will do in the next video in this series of stick welding.
    Another thing that I was testing in this video is a new auto darkening lens that I can put in front of my camera to capture the welding videos with. going to have to figure out how to keep it from flashing when I use the grinder but I think it might work better than the fixed shade I was using.

    How are u liking the ranger? I'm looking at this the bobcat 225 or the Hobart champion elite right now. Like the CV side but the champion elite has built in 50 amp plug so I could easily plug another machine in and for price of the feeder compared with a small mig machine I don't know if it's worth extra grand to 1,500$ for the CV option on machine

      I love it! It has done anything I put it up to even some light carbon arc with 1/8” carbon rods. Runs 6010 better than I can and 7018 like butter! And it will run any machine you plug into it perfectly fine I have run my small 110 flux core welder on the 110 side with no issue(will be making a video of that soon) and have run a Hobart mvp mig off of the 240 plug don’t know how high that will go but ran fine welding 1/4” didn’t really do more than that but am sure it could!

      I haven’t run cv much on it tried to but the machine I bought for $400 off of craigslist didn’t work found out the guy I bought it from sold several people broke equipment from his former workplace

      @@adamswelding5052 nice all pluses for me. What was the cost of the machine, what's fuel consumption like on it?

    • @adamswelding5052

      They average around $2600-$3300 but can be found with coupons for lower prices with rebates and or extra stuff as a package deal kind of thing. They used to have a rebate for something like $1000 or a wire feeder but that ended a while ago.
      And as far as fuel consumption goes on high idle I get about a solid 8-10 hours run time. And on low idle I get 12-16. So it does pretty decent just don’t try and fill the tank too much it isn’t good and causes the fuel tank breather not to work right and can damage the welder(not covered by warranty) had a friend do that and had to pay out of pocket to fix his brand new machine

    How often do you use 6010 compared to other rods?

    • @appalachianamerican3881
      @appalachianamerican3881 Před 5 lety

      Wondering because I'm curious how often its used in a work environment. I'm using it in school, but don't like it much. Can't wait to get to 7018.

      That is a great question! Well to answer it though isn’t going to be too helpful. It really boils down to what you are doing and what codes it is required to meet. If you are welding doing repair work, full pen open root welds, pipe welding, or anything like that is is a very useful rod to use I use it quite often for quick tacks because it is a fast freeze type of electrode meaning the tack will solidify quickly and minimize distortion.

      And as far as not liking it much is that because of the spatter or are you having trouble with the whipping motion? If you are having trouble with the whipping motion how about you try this technique, when you whip, whip to the edge of your puddle, pause for a second, whip back about half as far and count 2 seconds, and then repeat.

      Victor Ryan I used to hate 6010 but once you start getting paid 25-35$ a hour you’ll learn to love it. 😂

    Wrong 6011 is better for rusty metal and I like useing 6011 or 7018 better

    • @adamswelding5052
      @adamswelding5052  Před 2 lety

      6010 is better than 6011, 6011, is a similar rod to 6010 but designed to run on machines incapable of running 6010
