my life has literally gone from trying to make the most tastiest gourmet meals to making whatever I can get full on for less than $5 a day. and even $5 a day is hurting sometimes.. great video
Confession I don't peel large carrots. I just take a brand new scotch Brite pad (the green ones that don't come with the sponge) and under some cold water I just scrub them clean. Less waste and its easier and faster. Chop as normal. My hubby showed me that because when he worked at a ponderosa as a teenager that's what they did in the restaurant
I don't think I've ever peeled a carrot to eat it in my entire life LOL
Same here I just use the green side of a sponge lol
That or a scrubby brush.
This is the first time I ever heard about this...... and I'm going to do this now!
@@natememart yeah I hear all the vitamins are in the skin as well but I just do it cause it's easier and don't have to find a peeler or clean it afterwards lol
Swap out
1. the stewing beef for 2 packs of Tofu (Tofu and beef have same protein amount but while beef is higher in potassium Tofu is higher in calcium, folate and omega 3s as well as lower in fat)
2. Lentils for the ground turkey (lentils again high in thiamin and folate, lower in protein but still decent amounts, lower cholesterol, high in iron and dietary fiber which we don't get enough of- could keep fuller longer)
Both of those swaps could save you at least $5 on the low end, probably up to $7/$8 depending on where you are. And lentils stay good forever when Dried, and can be a bulk Pantry staple to have on hand to keep future grocery bills low.
I love these type videos. My nephew (28 ) asked me recently to create almost homemade meals for less than $4 ea. YAY! Most were about $3. Canned meats, eggs, Rice-A-Roni and Knorr $1 packages, Frozen 89c veggies. Made him 1 week of menus for $45 - 3 meals a day. After the first week he told me it was all awesome. So proud that he is willing to cook his own meals. Walmart is the only place I can find canned ham in a small can. I have been following Meals with Maria for about a year now. She is great.
I also really like those pasta and rice sides, especially for small families, or young people just starting out. I still use them myself!
That’s awesomeness
@Nancy If he’s open to it, tell him he can stir in a can of rinsed kidney or garbanzos beans into those type of boxed mixes. We don’t eat meat and I use a box of rice mix when in a rush and I think they’re good. Box of Zatarains jambalaya and add kidney beans at the end of cooking…it’s 🎶…
Dollar tree in some places has smaller “spam” type cans. (It really just depends on the store as the one close to me often has very different stuff than the one about 40 minutes away.) They also sometimes have spices and other items. I have found lots of products are “interesting”. Some Dollar trees have frozen foods also.
@@shelzp7272 You're in for a treat if you can find Tony Chachere's jambalaya and mix the 2 jambalaya mixes together. It creates a lot of food, but I freeze a gallon size bag and save it for later. They are great each on their own, but together its magic.
I’ve been known to throw a big towel (folded over a few times) over my slow cooker to hold in heat and hasten the cooking 😉 it really helps
I prefer regular whole carrots because I feel like they’re fresher than the baby ones because they don’t sit around peeled and in water for quite a few days… 🤷🏻♀️
Just bought all the ingredients I need to make these meals and it was $15.57! I am so excited to see how far these recipes take me and my two toddlers! Holy cow 🥹🫶🏼 thank you for doing these videos! I know how much work it is to just film and edit! So to have the budgeting and cooking and pricing? 🤯 THANK YOU! From one grateful mama!
How did it go?
It amazes me how cheap food is in the US. The beef alone would be at least $10 CAD where I live. Even a bag of frozen vegetables is pushing $5 now.
Paid $4.99 for a dozen eggs today at Aldi. Crazy! Love Meals With Maria! You're pretty special too! 😉
I love these budget meal dinners! I was able to make 7 dinners for $20 a few weeks ago and they were so tasty and my wallet thanked me 😊
Great job!
Care to share the recipes you made for that price? With a large, single, income family I'm always looking for new, yet actually cheap and tasty meals.
If you peel the carrots you peel away the nutrients (or so I read) so maybe just clean them off good
I appreciate your videos so much. I found them a few months ago, and I don't do anything as extreme as your challenge videos, but the information in them has helped me save so much money. I used to spend over $100 a week on groceries and toiletries, but I've used your videos to start planning ahead, using ingredients over multiple meals, and putting in a little more work (like grating a block of cheese instead of buying shredded). Now our weekly grocery bill (family of 3 + a dog), is usually about $60-$70. Your videos have been so helpful!
I also subscribe to Maria cuz each meal channel has their own take on what they have in their meal rotation. The more the merrier.😊 I love learning hacks for mixes
I never thought I'd see the day where eggs in the US were more expensive than in Canada. I'll definitely be trying some of these recipes very soon!! Everything looked delicious.
Thanks!
Owning chickens is becoming so much more appealing these days.
Honestly they are hard to keep. My now ex's mom had 3 chickens and she to give them away because everything to care for them costed too much. (Feed, bedding, etc)
And it was much cheaper and more economic to just buy a carton of eggs.
Love your videos! So realistic to make and easy!
I adapted your beef noodle soup recipe and cooked everything minus the noodles in the instant pot! Mindy, I know you don't *love* using the instant pot, but the beef was fall-apart tender and absolutely delicious.
Great job on this one Mindy. These meals look great. I'm gonna try en all. ♥
These are my favorite videos Mindy! Thank you ❤
Love videos like these, I hit the bread rack everytime we shop amazing
Love this video SMM (NEED to utilize these ideas this week) also love the nail color🤎

Awesome ideas, thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
OH! Meals with Maria is a favorite of mine. I like this collab :)
Finally! My Canadian eggs are cheaper than American eggs! I used to watch this an envy how cheap eggs were in the us.
Thanks for these videos! It seems like you are incorporating more dairy free meals which I appreciate.
Love this idea. Just watched Maria’s video and started subscribing to her as well.
Thank you for making these videos 🙏🏼
I am a family of one and I really do appreciate these videos!!! It’s hard to cook for one!
Interesting idea in increasing the servings in the pouch of muffins, I like that idea.
Mindy this was really good. Thinking about making the noodles & beef soup.
Great recipes! Yummy 😋 Thanks Mindy 😁❤️
I love your creativity!
I love these videos great ideals for meals and reasonably prices.
More to come!
Just rewatched this video after a long time…definitely a winner:)
I loooovvveeee this Lady! You thought me soooo much! Im always binge watching your videos learning so much🥰 for me you're like my older sister I wished i had😊
Thank you so much!!
Over from Maria's group. I do the same thing at Walmart - head straight to the discount bakery items. LOL I like your ideas and I've subscribed. 😊
Love this video…. On the hunt for more budget friendly meals…. Love u did Walmart too
I buy the cheap can biscuits. Put two together and add butter, garlic, parmesan and oregano. They fluff up big and they are so good.
Thanks I will make the first two recipes.
I add a chopped zucchini & yellow squash to my beef stroganoff about 15 minutes before its done. Yum.
Blueberry muffin: I had almond flour so added 1/2 cup instead of wheat flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tblsp sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 egg, 3/4 cup milk, 1 tblsp butter and 1/2 real blueberries. Makes a healthier muffin. Very good. Also made the teriyaki bowl, great ideas!
Love Maria I watch her and you too all the time!
Hi Mindy great meals for a little money thanks!
All looked lovely 👍
Love these videos!
When your mom isn't available so you borrow this one. Thank you ma'am. Heading to Walmart and my mom is busy with gbabies. Right in time. New subbie♥️
Just came over from Maria's channel I have loved her channel for a while and now I find another. Looks like I will like it equally as well.
With being on a fixed income, these meal suggestions are wonderful. I'll continue to look out for your meal ideas, because it saves on cooking the same meals everytime. Thanks
I was really not expecting to see the Ramen noodles spice in your video, because I save them and use them in other meals too. You're very good!
I watch both of you every day.
Hi Mindy i came across your video. Thank you so much for making this video, i subscribed to your channel and turned on the bell so i won't miss any of your videos. Again thank you so much.
I love your videos so much!!! I heard you say once that you live in Tulsa. We drive through there several times a year going to Springdale Ark. where we grew up! ( live in Colorado now) Love Tulsa!
Such great videos for these inflationary times! Heading over to Maria's channel!
Good deal! I think you're gonna love her :)
Came over from Meals with Maria, exciting times alright just subscribed.😊

Our eggs are $8-10 it's insane. Thank you for this video!!! I've subscribed and am going to make my husband happy with your saving ideas!!! God bless you!!! ❤️🙌
Our Mindy & Maverick will be trying some of your suggestions about buying frozen fruits, and vegetables.
Looks good. Thank you~
Eggs are crazy now. I remember when they were a go to cheap meal. We live in Iowa and can get a dozen from a farmer for 2.50 so that helps. TFS
These are my favorite types of videos
That Turkey would be great when th the pack of frozen stir fry pepper mix
👍👍👍👍 It all looks delicious!
Loved it!
Wow, you are almost at 160k subs! How awesome for you!! You deserve it. 👏👏👏
Thank you so much!!
I just noticed. Don't leave your purse unattended. My kids bug me about this all the time. Love your videos . I have a family of 6. Your meals are life savers. Thank you
Clip your purse to the cart kids seat belt so if you do get distracted, no one can just grab it and run
After the birth of my last child I decided I didn’t want to lug around a big diaper bag and a purse. So I bought a smaller back pack. Never leaves my back when I’m shopping. Just one less thing to worry about.
You are an absolute God send ❤️
Bought eggs in Fresno, Ca today. A 18 pack was $8.97 so I got a 60 pack for $25 because I’m tired of buying them weekly!
Thank you for the video
Your food always looks so delicious ! I am excited to try your mom’s stroganoff ! It looks fantastic ! Mindy you are the Queen of budget cooking and I appreciate your budget and easy meal recipes so much ! Thank you !
Thank you so much, Lisa. You’ve been a big supporter for a long time, I really appreciate it!
@@SeeMindyMom you are very welcome !
One of my go to cheap family meals is taking some ground Italian turkey sausage brown it up and set it aside then take a box of rice a Roni after the rice is browned add the meat in and follow the directions on the box. For a side I do a frozen bag of veggies.
Both your channel and Maria’s channel are favorites of mine
Thanks for your videos thanks love your videos thanks ❤️ 😊
Thank you, Thank you!! I was looking on how to turn my chicken into oriental style chicken. For a lighter meal.
love discount bread! those big rolls you got would prob be very good as bread bowls with a stew or thick soup!!
Yes! I think that's what they were intended for.
Good suggestions. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Mindy and family have a great day have fun thanks from Oklahoma
Thank you! You too!
I’m one of those weird people that is fascinated by the way people say things or the way their mouths move when they speak. I love the way Mindy says “noodles”, it’s such a satisfying sound LOL 😂
Great ideas.
I would love to see you make these recipes with chicken only and fewer carb based fillers!
They looked all so delicious North Texan here myself
Great muffin hack. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I will have to do that soup! We have stew meat in the deep freese and I have no idea what recipe we used last time. We don't do onion, but this one looks easy to just leave out the onion.
Love the collaboration. I watch both of you ladies often, and proud to say Maria she is from neck of the woods. ALWAYS ASK an employee about the clearance rack. Yes it is often in the same space however, you never know it could be they moved it or, as in this case are filling it with new goodies. Great recipes - I am so tired of people thinking eating inexpensive meals mean always eating Rice & Beans or Tacos
These look delicious!
Thanks, Cathy!
great ideas!
Love this thank you! We're a family of 7 so I would likely double these meals, but still a good value.
Do you have a link for your Dutch oven?
Great video!
Thank you for putting in the time to create frugal meals! This is helping me to be able to continue to pay off my debt while still eating healthy!
Love the ideas! I really want to give something like this a go and show the results in my local FB frugal group I admin! Gonna share the video there too😊
Thanks so much, Amanda!
your vids are so inspirational!!
Wow, thank you!
Love ur channel ❤ I’d love to see a dollar tree version of this video 😊
Here is a good idea about rice it’s better to save some money to the side and buy a sack of rice it will last you much longer, we gave a Sam club and we bag a huge sack of rice and pour it into two large glass jars and keep in a cool area
Hello & thanks for the great tips! Do you any Instant pot or multicooker recipes? I recently sold my slow cooker and purchased an Instant Pot (which can also act as a slow cooker). Best decision ever! Tender stew meat in 20 minutes!
