  • Wow, will it actually do 147 miles? Probably not, but now that this Orbea Wild has been upgraded to over 1000wh of battery life there should be some pretty epic rides ahead.
    Today in the Bike Rehab workshop Alex goes through the whole installation process, starting with a single battery bike and creating a dual battery monster.
    Parts required to do this upgrade are below.
    Thanks for watching!

    I wanted to take the time to thank you for sharing this video. I am trying to add a second battery to my Yuba Supercargo but have no idea how to assemble the pieces to hold the battery. Thanks for showing all the hardware and tools required and seeing you drop the motor gave me some confidence.

      Congrats on the upgrade. I'm getting ready to finally tackle this on my yuba spicy curry as well. I've been sitting on the pile of parts for a while. I remember reading in some instructions somewhere that it was required to have a bosch dealer hook up a laptop with diagnostic software in order to change the bike to dual battery mode, yet it appears this isn't required? I sure hope it's not required.

      @@gilerd77 If you email Yuba they will tell you if the software is ready to accept a second battery or not.
      For me, thankfully it was ready to accept a second battery. Just like in the video, the second battery showed up right away.

    My emtb: Gen2 CX drive unit fw 1.7 with rack batteries fw 1.5, 1.7 and 1.8 . Works flawlessly. Important: charge always till switch off, this needed by Bosch for the correct cell balancing. This last 20% slow balancing charge time will be doubled!

    If you have a port on the outside already for charging, can i use that one too without opening the motor section?

      Yes you should be able to use the bike without the battery in. Bosch sell little rubber covers you can fit when the battery isn't installed.

    • @bikerehab
      @bikerehab  Před 11 měsíci

      Glad you liked the video. I don't think the Jam2 has the additional mounting holes in the frame from factory to allow a second battery installation. We'd suggest getting in contact with a Focus dealer to see if there are any add on's to allow for this, but it's unlikely. Cheers!

      Hi thanks for your comment. The parts codes are in the description. The customer did supply the parts for this first install and more recently we have sourced parts. The Orbea parts need to come from an Orbea dealer but Bosch and Abus parts are more widely available.

    • @bikerehab
      @bikerehab  Před rokem +1

      The electric components are universal so you could add a battery to any Bosch system. The issue will be fitting the battery to the frame safely, this Orbea has factory fitted mounting points for the second battery. Hope that helps.

    You can go 1000 miles....even more. Using your legs.
    Saying range when referring to eBikes is misleading.
    You should say 'pedal assisted range'.
