Just found a new lake trout lake 2 days ago and used big baits like you do, we caught 8 nice 25" to 30" lakers. If it ain't chartreuse, it ain't no use!! Awesome video as usual Clayton, keep em' coming!!

Hey Clayton! I'm keen to try this method out on some ledges on some lakes up in Northeastern Ontario... Any idea when in the season the fish will be too deep/domicile to do this? We had a really hot June this year... You think you can still hook up by casting like this in early July or would we need to start jigging deep by then?

What braid to leader knot do you use? I've bene having trouble with my uni to uni. I'm either tying it wrong or using too strong of a rod for the line. But I feel like it's bad tying. I set the hook on a smallie this weekend and broke at the knot. Such a bummer,
I run an FG knot for Lake trout now, where the knot can slide through the guides very nice. Check out a video on the Salt Strong Channel.

that livescope is sure something , its pretty incredible to see how the fish react to your bait. Are you back up north guiding again this summer?

Pretty cool but you just gotta try lakers even earlier in the spring when most of the lake is still frozen and you can JUST BARELY sneak a boat on. So many lakers and some BIG ONES stack ontop of shallow sand beaches in as little as 3ft of water. Nothing more fun than fighting a big trout that cant swim down at all haha.

Great content Clayton, but you sure don't need the trumpets. DA,DA,DA...DA,DA,DA....DA,DA,DA...gets old real quick. It's all good, but the parts of your vids without music are so much more enjoyable to watch!

Hey Clayton, why don’t you use left handed baitcast reels but are lefty with a spinning reel? You wouldn’t have to switch hands everytime you cast.
I don’t have to switch. I can cast both ways depending on where I’m standing in the boat and if I have to cast over cameras :)

I have no doubt that you CAN do it , but was just wondering WHY you do it. Haha
It’s cuz I noticed that 9 out of 10 casts you had to switch hands after casting. I used to do the same, and than I switched all my baitcasters to left hand, just made sense to me because I was left handed with my spinning reels

Livescope>megalive humminbird fucked up not partnering with you still, I only started ice fishing 5 years ago and man you got me hooked onto the helix 7 then Jay came along and got me hooked on livescope. Now I own both and still use both in their appropriate time
