    I just love grubs, double tails and split double tails (which most people still consider grubs). Some of the things I like about them are, they work on pretty much every species of fish, you can fish it in almost every way, you can imitate pretty much everything in the water from bugs, worms, to fish. By changing colours and the way they are fished. lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.
    We use them for walleye and northern pike here at home, but they catch everything.

    I must say everytime you hit Gippsland the weather is always perfect - no wind!!!

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 19 dny +2

      Lots of planning in advance, I study the weather conditions like a Hawk leading up to any travel as its not worth travelling 4-6 hours if the weather isn't any good. I've been burnt many times in years past.

      @@fishingmad easy to get burned down there! Spent plenty of dead time fishing East Gippsland “ pre-kids “ - recorded times, spots, winds, water conditions, bait fish etc - now have resumed fishing - the systems especially Mitchell River have changed a lot and so have my spots! Oh well just have to start again! Watching your videos helps a lot especially the land based ones! Cheers!

      Thanks for the quick reply, sorry to be a pest but i recently bought some super thin Japanese braid and have been casting off lures like there is no tomorrow, I have tried the double uni and the fg knot do you have any knot recommendations

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 19 dny +1

      honestly thats all I use double uni and if the rod has micro guides and FG knot. Both are amazing knots. I tend to use the double uni more when im on the water because its so quick and easy to tie.

    • @Dane_fisher436
      @Dane_fisher436 Před 18 dny

      Yea fair enough i might not be doing enough turns on the fg, but unfortunately i have a 1-4 tcurve that doesn’t pair well with the double uni il try the fg with more turns and if it fails again i might need to get new line😭

    did anyone else notice the dead fish floating just before the 12 minute mark

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 18 dny +2

      Yeah there was a massive amount of dead Carp in the system. Huge ones and thousands of them. We called and alerted authorities and they said it was known due to the water temperature dropped and high salinity volumes which made it inhabitable for carp.

    Are commercial fishermen allowed to net that area. I fish and my local area is netted, so unless you know what you're doing and have local knowledge then fish like that would be scarce.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 18 dny

      As far as I'm aware, most commercial netting in PPB and Gippsland lakes has stopped ( back around 2022 ) with all the licenses bought out. It's a good question I'll see if I can dig up more info.

  • @spacekingsuhaantheultimate

    also why doesn't bait work on lake tyers like chicken or prawn

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 19 dny +2

      Baits still work fine in those systems and I saw some huge bream and flathead caught at lake tyers with prawns last time I was there. Garfish and pilchards also work well there, but typically I prefer to throw plastics and lures at them.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 19 dny

      watch this vid I think half way through czcams.com/video/QoDMzj_YB3o/video.html it explains all the rods and reels i use there. Try and have a prim target species as bream ideally will be a 1-3kg rod and flathead a 2-4kg rod there are lots of variations to this depending on what lures or bait your using.
