Yes, It is one of the best films of all time. I worked in a movie theater in the "70, and I saw a lot of films. Only a few of the films nominated for awards I felt deserved them. Love Story was one of them. I fell in love with the character that Ali played, not Ali, but she did such an amazing job that I felt she deserved the Oscar.

“Love Story” came out when I was a hormonal teenager & I wept buckets over the book &the movie! The only movie I can think of on the spit, as it were, that made me cry was “The Deer Hunter,” which I found devastating & which led me to “Platoon” also awesome, but made me angry, not tearful, then to the work of pure genius, “ Apocalypse Now,” after seeing this movie I went back the night after, my family all swear that I hardly spoke for days. I mean, Brando reading TS Eliot, the surfing through the smell of napalm & Robert Duvall’s hardass performance, plus the mental journeys the characters went through, the music- it’s one of the only ten dvds I own. It still makes me cry. Oh, just remembered “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest.” I refused to see the movie for 5 yrs, because I though it would ruin the book for me. It didn’t, each is a work of genius in it’s own right, they both make me cry, too!

I was a toddler in 1970. So I didn’t see it then. But in the early 1990’s I went thru a seventies movie craze. I rented as many as I could find. Love Story, Apocalypse Now, One flew over the Cuckoos nest, Deliverance, Deer Hunter, Close Encounters, Scarface, GodFather, Taxi Driver and more then I want to write. My husband was in the Army and he was deployed for Desert Storm. We had 3 little kids. And I had time to in the evenings to watch movies without the kids up to see stuff they shouldn’t . It was a great because I could do chores while I watched movies.

I loved the film from the very beginning and I proved it by watching it 11 straight times. That's right, I went to my local theater and stayed ALL DAY. Watching it 6 straight times. Then, I went home and came back the next day and watched it 5 straight times. I bet nobody has ever done that before? I memorized it ALL. Loved Ali McGraw.

I saw Love Story years after it was originally released. It was in the .99 cent rake at the video store. As I stood in line to check out my movies. The lady ahead of me said I hope you’ve got a full box of tissues. Then the employee who checked me out said the same thing. After I got home I called my Mom and asked if it was really as sad as they made it sound. And she said YES it is. So of course I popped it in to the VCR. Oh my God I cried so hard. My husband came walking in after work as I was sobbing my eyes out. He was concerned and asked WHAT HAPPENED DID SOMEONE DIE??? All I could do was hold up the movie box. And he said nope I won’t watch it Noooo way. Lol

There’s a documentary in The Godfather trilogy on Blu-Ray/4K called ‘The Godfather: The Masterpiece that Almost Wasn’t’ with some vintage film of Paramount Pictures producer Robert Evans in the early 1970’s promoting The Godfather and Love Story as the two Paramount films that would save Cinema and films in general, It was thought at this time in Hollywood by a lot of people that movies just weren’t bringing in box office returns like they used to and that they were about to die out and that Television would be replacing them.
Myself I haven’t seen Love Story yet but have seen The Godfather of course.

Ali McGraw was married to Paramount chief Robert Evans when THE GODFATHER came out and was already cheating on him with Steve McQueen, who cheated on her during their marriage. All Hollywood knew about this, and Mick Jagger even worked into the Rolling Stones song "Star, Star": "Ali McGraw got mad at you, for giving head to Steve McQueen."

I just watched this movie 2 days ago after probably 30 years. What perfect timing for this video. I was between 12 and 13 when it came out and saw it many times. It was a real tear jerker and I cried right along with everyone else. Watching it the other day brought me back to a time in my life of great memories. It was heartwarming for me. Sure I shed a tear at the end but it was different. The music alone would make you cry. Outstanding. I love the ending in What’s Up Doc where Barbara Streisand bats her eyelashes at Ryan O’Neal and says Love means never having to say you’re sorry. And his character says, That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard! Classic! All in all Love Story really made its mark. I did watch Oliver’s Story when it came out but don’t remember too much about it. That snow was fake???

For years I'd borrow the key to the music room from our band director in high school. Each time he came in the band room I'd play 'Love Story' or the song from Romero/Juilet.
One day he and my music/harmony teacher walked in the band room and they'd hear one of the two songs above played on the piano.
The band director said : " You've been borrowing my band keys for three years and only learned one song?"
Fun & sad times like remembering 'Love Story'. In life there are always beginnings and endings....Don't get too sad because for every sad "goodbye", ...theres a chance for a NEW "HELLO".
I've seen the 1st one many times, and saw the second one, don't know if I watched the whole movie and don't remember anything about it...I was too busy being in the U.S. Army.

    1. Caring about what others think
    2. Not believing in yourself
    3. Not experimenting different ideas / solutions for problems (life&business)
    4. Not prioritizing your health
    5. Wasting your precious time
    6. Wanting something (instead write a plan and work towards it)

The movie title escapes me and its existence is not acknowledged here, but a very rough minuscule synopsis is that the movie is absent of any dialogue, but as best as my geriatric brain can recall, the lead character is an introverted spy or agent who has a hot blonde neighbour iiving in an adjacent apartment. The final scene is when the male lead - Malan, is seen along side a freighter moored at a pier somewhere.
