      I don't disagree, but he was a b*tch about everything else. Bottom line: If the terms of the arrangement were good enough for Joe Walsh, who was considered a guitar GOD forever by that time, the terms should have been good enough for Felder. Felder could play, no doubt, but Joe Walsh was at least as good and with a better musical legacy.
      I respect how Joe Walsh has always been able to steer clear of condemning statements for this event.

    Glen was picking on Don Felder way before this. But what bothers me is him saying he had been paying Don for 7 years. Now that was beyond arrogant. Don Felder brought to the Eagles exactly what they needed. A harder sound. He was a brilliant guitarist and a productive one too. He earned his ownership and then some. Now to treat him as a hired musician is really bad. It continued after the reunion too.
    Just sad really.

      When we saw them in Vancouver/96, there were already reports of the grumblings.
      Glad I saw them when we did. I will never watch any of their others without Felder, and that includes videos.

      No one wants to be around someone who politicizes everything.
      There’s a guy who works at the corner store and you cant even say hello to him without getting a lecture about the govt.
      All things being equal, id rather be around someone who doesn’t utter a word about politics. If anything, ppl care too much about politics and what makes it worse is they arent really talking politics as they are just spewing off liberal/conservative nonsense they heard on CNN or bc they saw some goofy pic of Jesus and Satan arm wrestling

      It wasn't the politics that led to the issue. Felder actually agreed with Senator Cranston's politics. He just didn't want to play for free. And even that wasn't the true reason for the bitterness. Had been brewing for years.

    The problem I had with Frey's comment about him paying Felder for all those years is that, although that may have been true in the early years after laying the groundwork, it was Felder who came up with Hotel California which vaulted the group into immortality. You can't put a price tag on that.

      What Joe is talking about is a very different kind of problem . Joe had Substance problems but was mainly only hurting himself but with Felder and Glen it was a deep resentment on the verge of violence onstage during a performance
      When Joe said you got problems he was talking about the whole band not just Felder vand Glen

    Don Felder's guitar riff on 'Already Gone' back in '74 (DKRC) was one of the best I've ever heard in rock 'n' roll. The man could handle that guitar as if it were a part of him.

    I remember at the end of an Eagles concert, exiting the stadium thinking how great a guitarist is Don Felder, what tone, the parts he plays -- one of the all time greatest guitarists i ever saw live -- it was a great great concert, over 3 hours long, best sounding band i ever saw live - i was beyond impressed by Felder's playing.

      🤔 Joe Walsh and Don Felder were by far the coolest members of that band! They were the polar opposites of their 2 smug, arrogant, condescending egomaniacal band mates. Besides, Felder did a song for the Heavy Metal movie, which was cooler than any of Frey's solo pop stuff.

    Don Felder came up with Hotel California and when Henley heard it he says it should be done differently than the vision Felder had for it. Felder was willing to give Don’s way a try and says, You know what? Don (Henley) was right. Humble. That’s Don Felder.

      You might be thinking of the "hell freezes over" acoustic version when they first got back together in '94. Felder "reworked" the solo there. I think I've seen a similarly worded quote from Henley back then.

    I cannot help seeing Randy's angelic face among these guys.
    Never ever get me wrong.
    Randy said all he wanted to see was 5 guys working together, together he meant as a team, being humble towards each other.
    Randy was never that confrontational.
    Now i know why he was unhappy seeing their respective dominance that time.
    But they did it still, leaving and having fame on their own.
    The Eagles will always be a part of our lives.
    I was just very happy during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when Tim really thanked Randy!✌❤

    Don Felder was a crucial, imperative and very important part of The Eagles, especially around the time of one of their most successful records, "Hotel California," (which by the way, he co-wrote) but Frey and Henley constantly treated him like he was just a hired hand, and nothing more. If anything, I give Felder credit for putting up with that sort of BS, for as long as he did, and for not smashing his guitar into Frey's head!

    Don Felder played at a casino I worked at about 12 years ago. After the show and the auditorium was empty, he was around talking with people. I approached him and asked him to sign my left handed Gibson. He graciously did without hesitating. That was mt prized possession until, due to our current situation, I had to sell it to make ends meet. I cried that night. Someday, I will find her and but her back..... I didn't want to sell it Mr. Felder, I am sorry.

    That great bands exist at all is a miracle. Being a top notch musician requires a near fatal dose of OCD - which also makes it extremely hard to get along with others.

      good point, in videos where you see henley he is absolutely ocd about the music and arrangements, i guess that is one of the reasons why they are so good.

    According to Felder and sources, he was a major contributor to the Hotel California’s whole structure (period) and I believe that as a huge fan of the entire band. And to see him depart from the group is tragic. He is to me The George Harrison of Eagles. Pretty much says it all.

      If they both had arthiritus, hitting each other would have been the last thing they would have wanted! It hurts to much and yelling at first would be better and then making up later and writing a song about anger would have been better? I liked the Eagles a lot!

    It's Glen Frey's behavior that I stopped being an Eagles fan. Their music is great but their greatest album is because of Felder and he treated him like a hired hand.

    All of those Eagles were pretty damn good. New ones included. I will never forget hearing one of these nights the first time. I was blown away.

    Saw the Eagles live twice and loved them, although I don't know much about their history. Glen was my favorite, purely because of his vocals. I wasn't political in those days. Nobody was. The country has changed.
