- I've finally gotten the chance to do some shopping at our local market here in Santander! From fresh seafood, to fruits and vegetables galore, this historic marketplace is still full of life today. And of course, what's a day out without some wine and Japanese food?! Join me on another journey of discovering all there is to offer in my new home of Santander, Spain.

My husband and I are moving to Santander in October. I've been watching and enjoying your videos. You are very brave to jump in with limited knowledge of the culture and language. I traveled alone through Spain when I was about 18 back in the 80s, so I can relate to a lot of what you are doing. I wanted to let you know that they sell by the Kilo there. One Kilo is equivalent to about 2 pounds. So if you are comparing prices to the US always think you are getting about twice as much as you would in the US. That helped us realize that food was actually a lot cheaper than we thought. So 20 EU for 1 kilo of salmon would be about $10-$12 a pound and or course, you probably would not need to eat a whole pound of salmon. In Spain, they have stores they call the "Chinese" bazaar which is kind of like the dollar stores here. I know you value your privacy, but I would love to know your name. My name is Kim Laffont. Perhaps we will see each other once we are over there. Keep up the good work and don't worry too much about what other people are thinking about you when you are filming. You do your thing.
Thank you so much! Sure pls send me a private message and we can connect that way or on my instagram at @black.imperial.travel
Wow, I never thought of shower shoes.
I finally found them for €3 at Carrefour! Which is basically our version of Walmart
The food looks delicious!!
I love that spot! Affordable & great food
Spain may have to import salmon, and that would make it more expensive. You need a local friend to take you to the market, and introduce you to the fish sellers. I’m going to do that when I go to Portugal for a long visit.
I just bought legit shower shoes for my trip. I’ve tried flip flops, but they stayed too wet. I just made sure I was the 1st one to use the shower, after it had been cleaned. But, this trip, I’m staying at 3-4 hostels. So, time for shower shoes.
Probably so, I’ll work on getting friends in the meantime😅😂
@@blackimperialtravel what about Couch Surfing meetups and Airbnb Experiences?
@@Nubianette I live here in the city so there’s no need to couch surf for me personally but I can try to look into other avenues for sure!
@@blackimperialtravel the meetups are social gatherings among travelers and people who love to travel. I went to one in Trondheim, Norway. I was staying with a Norwegian friend who couch surfs when he travels sometimes, and he took me to a meetup. It was a combination of locals, travelers, and foreigners living in Trondheim. It was pretty cool.
@@Nubianette thanks for letting me know I’ll see if we have anything similar here!
