    thanks for this video! i've been learning alot from you. Ive always thought it was the other way around, recon are for movement agents while disabling agents are for fragging lmao. anyway, at 4:44 shouldnt you use contingency upon entering too? like use it for the right side while also using your E so you can minimize the angles needed to clear out (my concern is if you as you are able to get in site, people at the alley might peek at a good timing and get a pick from you) or was the reason you didnt use contingency was because you were just trying to show an example of the initiator timings?

      And yeah ideally there would be a smoke there to the right, which is why I didn't use anything as I was just trying to show an example of how you can follow up your drone and I didn't have enough people to help in the custom game I was in haha. Even if there is a smoke there it might be a good idea to throw that out to the right as it'll stop any spam from hitting you as you scale into site!

    This is a good framework to follow. Having a good Breach on your side makes things easy.

    • @ValoRATStrats
      @ValoRATStrats  Před 8 dny

      For sure! Breach is one of the better initiators in the meta right now. It's tough to play him in ranked cause he requires really high coordination and quick thinking, but if you have a duo that likes to play duelist or feel confident in your ability to read your random duelist on your team and their intentions I'd recommend getting comfortable with him as an agent.

    • @Aurora-bv1ys
      @Aurora-bv1ys Před 8 dny

      @@ValoRATStratsI do pick him. I usually fill in for the team, but in the moderate instance that I have to pick an Initiator, it's a choice between Gekko or Breach on maps like Sunset, Lotus, Ascent etc. I enjoy characters who put me in an unfair advantage against others, like Gekko Flash and Breach stun.

    You cant use pro play to explain roles…..
    i only say this cause today dopai. Had mentioned how initiators work a little
    Maps like ascent etc. he gets free scans
    But maps like split, skye and kayo are good cause you can make space and scale where sova cant, thats why hes bad in split……
    same with bind….
    reason pro teams can test things is cause pros know other pros wont be hyper aggressive like rank because they have Strats to counter such pushes
    Thats why some games you’ll see 3 push one site on defense cUse they want to catch enemy off guard and make a play

    • @ValoRATStrats
      @ValoRATStrats  Před 10 dny

      Yeah for sure 100% agree. The goal of the video was less “model yourself after pro teams” and more “focus and really respect the importance of composition when playing ranked, cause it does matter”
      Admittedly I can make those types of things more clear so I’ll improve that in future videos with pro play!

    So why with this comp, Team heretics is the best team in the world on this map?

    • @ValoRATStrats
      @ValoRATStrats  Před 19 dny +2

      Do you mean with the comp they run on Sunset? If so it's a good question!
      Sova is a great initiator, and a big part of why I think Heretics is so successful on Sunset is the way they pair their KAY/O and Sova together. Sova on Sunset is a necessary pick regardless of duelist because most pro teams run a Cypher, and having shocks to get rid of common trips is a massive benefit the team needs every round on attack. His dart + KAY/O flashes with a Neon being able to push and capitalize on the intel and the flashes is a really really potent way to run an attack side, so that's why you see that comp so regularly on Sunset (most teams run this comp).
      I think my goal with this video is to use pro teams to illustrate a concept that you can try and carry over into ranked in terms of how you pick your comp. It's really common to see people pick an initiator because they're familiar with them vs. learning agents that could benefit your duelist a little more. Definitely not a hard and fast rule, and can be very map dependent as well!

    Sova is the most effective Initiator pair with neon by FAR statistically, followed by Kayo. Breach doesn't even make the top 3

    Very basic thinking and explanation, was hoping for something that actually requires higher thinking. Would you're essentially saying (which is still correct don't get me wrong, but it's very basic and obvious) don't pick bad duelists so your team doesn't pick "bad" initiators. There is no bad initiator in the game right now but on certain maps there's obviously initiators you wanna pick over others, like you wanna pick the Breach on Sunset which yu showcased cause he has amazing stun lanes and great after shock spots, whilst a Sova is still very good on Sunset aswell but you wanna abuse Breachs strengths on that map. A better example might be Lotus, only because you'd have a bad duelist in your team you'd never pick Sova over Breach unless you want to lose. Makes no sense to compare a Sova to a Breach anyways... just don't pick terrible agents like Reyna/Iso/Pheonix and no problems should happen.

    • @ValoRATStrats
      @ValoRATStrats  Před 20 dny +5

      Appreciate the feedback! I get your perspective on agent selection and the importance of higher-level strategic thinking, and I definitely plan on making videos that dig deeper like that (have already made a few for Ascendant/Immortal players in earlier videos, so would love your perspective on those). The point I wanted to make is to encourage players to think critically about their team composition and how it can impact a duelist's ability to enter properly. To be honest even in lobbies I've been in with Immortal players in the past I've noticed agent selection around initiators has been bad, which is what got me to make this video. It can be applied to a lot of lobbies across ranks.
      Thanks again for your input, and I hope you'll continue to share your thoughts - makes my videos better so appreciate it.

    • @ranghawastaken
      @ranghawastaken Před 20 dny +1

      @@ValoRATStrats Yeah my bad honestly, I'm always thinking about proper gameplay and not Ranked, cause in Ranked you will not have good gameplay in any rank and you won't have good comps until eventually Radiant where bad agents (Clove, Iso, Reyna for example) are still being picked but generally the comps are fine. For ranked and especially lower ranked players or new players your explanation was very good, also probably good to explain it with useless agents like Reyna/Iso cause in the end everyone can still play what they want even if the agent is bad which we can see in their ranked pickrates with Reyna/Iso/Brim/Sage/Clove being the 5 highest but all being bad agents on most maps. I'm mostly more direct saying "Yo, this agent is bad on this map for this and that reason, play this instead" but you giving examples for all agents (duelists in this case) is nice aswell

    • @ValoRATStrats
      @ValoRATStrats  Před 20 dny +2

      @@ranghawastaken Oh for sure! I think in certain maps the advice I gave doesn't fully apply like you mentioned. Like on Sunset you usually want to run a Sova cause of Cypher trips and the dart can get great intel across sites, so regardless of the duelist you pick having a Sova + another initiator like a KAY/O, Breach, or Gekko would be good and is usually pretty common.
      So sometimes the answer is a mixture of both and 100% map dependent and I think it's totally fair to call that out like you did so people know that.
