    It's not about rev rates, it's about form and accuracy. Earl Anthony didn't have a high rev rate...nor Dick Weber, nor Don Carter. I know those are names from the past. But you don't have to have thousands of revolutions to put 10 pins in the pit. Kelly just proved it. Her form was fluid and flawless. Awesome job.

    I must have missed this back in the day but saw a flashback yesterday. Awesome performance and good for her. The thing with bowling is there is no defense; literally. All you can do is bowl your best game; mentally, physically, and against the lane conditions. Revs, ball-speed, and board movement mean nothing without accuracy and consistency. You'll get some lucky breaks sometimes and some unlucky ones. They come at the worst and most unexpected times. You can shoot 240+ and still lose if/when your opponent is hot. That's 2-3 spares and no open frames in a game otherwise filled with all strikes by you, but you still lose; there's just nothing you can do but watch your opponent move on, where they'll sometimes bowl a 180 game the very next game against their next opponent. Such is the game of bowling. Much respect to Kulick.

    I sure would not want to bowl against Kelly! She would whoop me but good. But you people comparing pool to bowling - no comparison. Pool requires very little (if any) physical strength and bowling does. If you don't think it does you are not a bowler. There are varying ball weights (going up to 16 pounds) that have to be lifted and thrown properly with the right loft. This requires hand and arm strenght as well as body coordination.

Those telecasts are not the same. Something's missing. The old PBT was just done so well. There was one ESPN broadcast from Chattanooga, TN where a guy whose name escapes me was going for 300. The crowd was still whoopin and cheering as he was about to throw his final shot. How freakin' stupid.

    well i cant agree with you because that means that the only reason why people get pin carry and strikes is because of superhuman accuracy? And the choices i had were too convienient? what does that even mean? the fact that i mentioned them was because it was true and they fit the description of what i was calling a succesful low rev player. How about the others like Michael Haugen? Mike scroggins? Brian Voss? more succesful players that make tv shows with low rev rates.

  • @jdurnhofer
    @jdurnhofer Před 14 lety

    It actually makes a lot of sense. The players you used as a comparison are too convenient. Norm Duke, Earl Anthony and WRW relied on superhuman accuracy. Between that or power play, I chose accuracy any day. But your average PBA bowler can make up for that with higher margin of error with angle and rev rates, thus the 400+ avg RPM on the mens tour. Kelly is awesome, but she is not WRW (at least not yet) and doesn't have the rev rate either, hence her comment. She has her facts right.

Muttering how she was making history during her final shot; then picking up the trophy and calling out "girl power" like it's some kind of feminist statement.
