I miss Greece so much, I left over 45 Years ago from Glyfada taking Train into the Syndagma the train makes a large turn my tears started, as I could se the Acropolis...…….45 Years away it truly hit me. I was like a child looking into a candy store, my eyes was lost in the beauty......x0x
I'm from and live in Ohio but I lived in Greece for 5 years in the early 1990s. It still looks similar just more people, a great new metro, some graffiti, and the refugee (sad and tragic for these people) crisis. I miss the views of Athens from above, the sites of ruins and the Acropolis as I'm walking to the train station, the FOOD, history, water, islands, people, countryside, etc. Greece will always have a special place in my heart and mind. I hope to go back some day with my son.
Jessica LT Athens center has been destroyed by the riots and demonstrations during the crisis and there is graffiti everywhere. 10 years ago it was much better. Now they're trying to save money by fixing only the absolute necessary stuff. The suburbs and the coastline are much prettier. Greetings from an Athenian :)

Lionhearted626 I had a sad break up in my mid 20's and visited a girlfriend who joined the foreign service and worked at the embassy in Athens. A 2 week vacation there turned into 5 years living there. It was the most amazing time of my life besides the birth of my son and being a parent. Everything is so different from Ohio where I'm from, so everything was new and exciting. Start a Greece fund and start saving. If you go by yourself join a tour group or have a local person show you around. Get some Greek language tapes beforehand to practice. Have fun before you get settled whether in a few years or soon. Lord knows what will happen to this world anymore with the various leaders flexing their muscles.

I was in Athens in September too many beggars and it's quite upsetting but it's a beautiful city just shame about some good architecture that has been neglected and leaved to rot. I would like to come back and explore more. It's quirky!

Athens ia the biggest disappointment for me. Anyhow Greece is just like any other country from the Balkans...they just had the chance bot to be communist...in other words the mentality there is exactly the same just like in Bulgaria or Serbia.
I think, Greeks are Greeks, Bulgarians are Bulgarians,and Serbians are Serbians.And Greece is just Greece.....Each country has it's own identity, if you accept it or not.
