The Soundtrack of Persona 3 Reload covers everything from introspective and tranquil soundscapes, to dark and heavy atmospheres. Reacting to this was NOT a mistake!

    05:35 Full Moon Full Life
    11:16 Mass Destruction
    14:18 It's Going Down Now
18:21 When The Moon's Reaching Out Stars
    21:43 Deep Mentality

    30:35 Master Of Shadow
    33:13 Changing Seasons
    36:26 Want To Be Close

The track called “Mystic + Tartarus” is the theme for Tartarus, a massive dungeon that you explore throughout the course of the game. It’s divided into several layers, and as you get to later layers, the soundtrack adds new elements and instruments, so you can hear the music evolve during your journey. It’s also definitely the song players hear the most because you spend a LOT of time in this area.

0:27 The screenshot referred to the way Atlus released their soundtrack on Steam - instead of giving a standalone album like most Steam games, Atlus went "all out" and created a full-screen music player that's half-assed, bitcrushes the soundtrack, pauses whenever you're not focusing on the godforsaken player, and effectively drains batteries of whomever's running it on their portable Steam Deck/handheld player.
The music itself is great (mainly the new tracks, some 'remastered' tracks sounds lacking compared to its original), and that's why I usually play extended versions of 'Color Your Night' whenever I need to focus on my work.

The completely new tracks for Reload I really love, especially "It's going down now"
But the ones they remixed from the original and FES? The originals were so much better, wtf
Burn My Dread - Last Battle doesn't have the same punch, Deep Breath just feels off compared to the one we're used to, Battle Hymn of the Soul just feels like they went "well, we need to remix it SOMEHOW" and added too much when the first version was already great
Honestly, I'd recommend you go back and listen to both Persona 3/FES and Persona 3 Portable's OSTs, so you can see what we've lost going into the remake

I think to people who have a huge attachment to the original, they will always prefer the original songs. But if you were to look at it objectively, from an angle of "What makes more sense musically", then yeah, the Reload tracks are just improved versions. Not better. Improved.
For example, the mixing in Battle Hymn of the Soul, despite what you said, adds nothing. If anything, it takes away by cutting some of the high ends and getting rid of some of the harshness that was expected of recording equipment back in the early 2000's. Shoji Meguro (yes, he was the one in charge of Battle Hymn of the Soul -reload-, check the official OST booklets credit section) basically did the song the exact same way, where the only difference is the compression on the drums is SLIGHTLY lowered to give the bass some breathing room, since those old drums were quite punchy, and the aria itself, the operatic vocals, were lowered in the mix by a few DB's to give the guitar and bass more room.
Burn My Dread LB is also pretty identical, and ironically enough is MORE punchy if you were to look at it from the angle of a mix. The drums are more punchy and less distorted than the original track, which is ideally what you would want from drums like that where they're more spread apart and used as the actual impact of the rhythm.
Nothing was "lost", you just personally prefer the original tracks, and thats understandable from a nostalgia standpoint.

No. Most of the remixed tracks just aren't as good as the original. Weird lyric changes that don't flow or hit as well (Deep Breath chorus and BMD Final). New female singer sounding monotone ("Baby baby" instead of "Baybeh Baybeh"). Don't really have a problem with most of the instrumentation, but I can see people having a problem with it. It's not nostalgia. The remix tracks beyond being higher quality aren't that good compared to the originals.

@@remimakesmusic It's really not nostalgia, by the time I knew what Persona even was, Royal was the latest game
Also there's no such thing as a song being "objectively" better

    • @Crowded.
      @Crowded. Před 3 měsíci +7

@@flastyy_ I think the thing is you can't really describe songs as not having "the same punch" or feeling "off compared to the one we're used to" if you're not already used to the old version. For someone who listens to the new version first, the reverse could be just as true. I only listened to a lot of the FES/ Portable OST after playing Reload and, just like you, I thought for a lot of it how odd it sounded for missing certain things the Reload version had.
For example, I heard Burn My Dread Last Battle and could only think of how I didn't like the lyrics in the original. While the original just had cool rapping, Lotus Juice's lines in Reload made the fight feel personal, adrenaline-inducing, and almost optimistic. But then again, that's just me and it could just be because I listened to Reload first.
(I will say though original Mass Destruction is still better imo)
