Multiple gunshots were heard at the North Korean checkpoint in the DMZ. Two soldiers were dead and one wounded. South Korean Sergeant Lee (Lee Byung-Hun), a prime suspect of this case, was captured at the border injured. The truth becomes a mystery as the two Korean governments blame each other. Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission dispatches Sophie E. Jean (Lee Young-Ae), a Korean-swiss Army Major, to conduct a special investigation. She interrogates North Korean Sergeant Oh (Song Kang-Ho), the injured soldier, and Sergeant Lee, but they dodge the question with repetitive answers. After an autopsy on a dead soldier, a bullet was unaccounted for, which leads to another witness, South Korea Private First Class Nam (Kim Tae-Woo). But Nam, who can't stand the interrogation, tries to kill himself and goes into a coma. The news shakes Lee, and Jean tries to persuade him to find out what really happened that day.

For those of you who dont know, the dude playing the north korean soldier (song kang ho) is the father from parasite and the dude playing the south korean soldier (lee byoung hun) is from parasite, the front man. Both are legendary actors in south korea.

I always loved since I was a kid these drama Korean movies.
Korean drama is by far one of the best in many ways. Actors do not exaggerate or look always at the camera. They talk normally as if the camera man where non existent.
These movies should happen more often.

@@izzuddinafif It is not the "people" that are bad. The people are just so restricted in their lives because of authoritarian structural rules, norms, and circumstances that leave no room for change. Elites take all the power and there's none of it left for struggling "people" to do move and change their lives.
But I also believe that time will master change, and externalities related to AI, IoT, and communication will bring change to the ones that live in oppression by their leaders.
I love how the scene with the red hat ties the end of the movie up so very nicely.

Interesting touch that the squad leader had to put up his NOD to use the night vision scope on the rifle since in real life it's next to impossible to see anything when using a normal magnified optic while using head mounted night vision equipment.

懐かしい映画🎥です。
この映画のかなり前に、板門店のブルーの会議室に、見学に行きました。
見学上の注意点や、過去の衝突事件の説明、不測の事態発生時には、韓国政府は責任をとらない等の説明を受けて、見学開始しましたが!!警備はかなり厳しく、人や物を指差ししただけで、怒られました。
室内にも国境線が引いてあり、一応越境不可でしたが、一歩だけ越境して写真を撮りました。
北朝鮮側の壁に掛けてあった地図には、韓国と言う国名は無く南朝鮮となっていました。
当時は、とても緊張・緊迫した状態でした。
Imagine this happening in real life: a hat (or any piece of belonging) getting tossed across the border. Would a soldier from one side return it to the owner on the other side? Awesome if he would. ❤

I don’t think they were making fun of him, they seemed genuinely surprised that a grown man can cry. I can imagine them having harsh/ strict upbringings in NK. Also the fact that he told them to go away and they followed that order with zero hesitation, well indoctrinated.

음.. 이 영화배경으로 따지면 병사 무장은 고증을 잘 따랐습니다. 2000년대 초까지만 해도 JSA경비병은 카투사에서 차출된 부대였기 때문에 미국제 M16A2 소총과 M92FS권총 분대지원화기로는 M249경기관총을 썻다고합니다. 그리고 식사도 우리나라 짬밥이 아니라 미군식당에서 먹었다고 하죠

1:06 It is surprising to see the guy with the camera outright pushing the soldier's arm out of the way.
I am sure the soldier could have taken it as an assault and break the dude's arm and camera before he had time to take another picture.

Crazy thing these types of patrols really did happen for a long time. Little fire fights would break out here and there. Not sure if they still do now though
Where was this filmed? Because either they spent a LOT of money to recreate the DMZ somewhere or North Korea allowed it to be filmed there.
youd be surprised how cheap and fast it is to recreate areas. A lot of movies do it when theyre not allowed to film there in real life, such as one movie called sicario, where they made a replica of a US-Mexican border
