    Who else appreciates that Simply Aviation focuses on Economy Class reviews instead of Business Class or First Class seats that most viewers won’t fly? SA truly cares about the viewers’ experience 😊

      I appreciate they are the only ones doing consistently high-quality economy reviews, but I personally don't think it's worth commending it like they are curing cancer. If others love to and want to share their high-end travel, that's fine, you don't have to discredit them for it cause they do a great job and work hard to maintain what they are doing. The only thing you could knock them for is clickbait overly dramatic content from time-to-time.

      @@JeffCD77 That’s perfectly valid too, but I always see people criticise the likes of Sam Chui, Nonstop Dan, Jen Brooks, for mainly showcasing premium cabin travel on their channels. I personally don’t think it’s warranted on that level. They dont do what they do to serve humanity, it’s entertainment at the end of the day. They are passionate about something and want to share it with others who enjoy the same thing.

    I am Singaporean and what's funny is that I always see foreigners, especially Westerners, fly Singapore Airlines and rave about every aspect and there's me going goes "uh, SQ again..." whenever I get the chance to travel. That's very much the avgeek in me, but I am proud to call SQ my home airline. They weathered the pandemic well, their service is consistently good, and seeing one of their planes abroad and getting aboard is like coming home.

    I actually appreciate the security checks at the gate at Changi because that makes getting through immigration super fast and as long as one makes it to the gate on time, one is unlikely to miss the flight even if one has to queue a little at the gate. This system actually means more airport personnel is working on security checks as compared to those airports that only offer a common security queue.

      Changi is one of the most confusing of the airports in terms of security check. There are 3 types for its 4 terminals:
      1. At-gate Security: All Terminal 1, 2 gates as well as some Terminal 3 gates. Personally my most favorite option as I can take my own sweet time until close to final call (the plane has to wait for you). Also, the queues are much less towards the tail end of the boarding call. The only other airport that I know which has this style is Kuala Lumpur main terminal (not the AirAsia one).
      2. Single security for selected gates: Some gates at Terminal 3 (late-A gates and some A and B gates towards the middle of the terminal) use such concept to save space for queueing or to lump flights with low loads at these gates.
      3. Single security for all gates: Most travelers are familiar with this concept as this is the norm all over, but it is my least favorite as I have to rush to the gate after a long security line. Changi, however has this only at Terminal 4, which is why airside transfers from T4 to the other terminals require security clearance before taking the airside bus.

    • @paulsz6194
      @paulsz6194 Před 10 měsíci +5

      Security clearance at the gate is much easier, as you are not waiting along with everyone else who are flying elsewhere to clear security and rush to your gates. Also, there is always somewho is running late, and is trying to beg other people let themto jump the queue...

    I flew the 78X to NRT and back last month, overall the product is very good but having 301 economy seats do slow down the meal service a bit and I do see the crew getting a bit overwhelmed when there’s an influx of passenger requests. Also another thing I observed is that SQ serve only one main meal while ANA on the same route serves one main meal and one pre-landing snack and drink.
    I do wish they provide premium economy on these planes since traveling couples will have a hard time trying to find the right seat in this cabin, they could either hope for an empty middle seat or try to book the rearmost seat but those seats are very often blocked.

    Flown on the business class on the newest A350 on Starlux and 787 on EVA few weeks ago, I will say 787 still better, the windows really make a huge difference; the inside of the 787 feels taller, could be the overhead bin design? on the A350 I kept bump my head into the bin 😅

    Personal air vents are a feature of the flight manufacturer and not the airline. I too do a fair amount of travel and what I have noticed is that the personal air vents are outdated and only available in the older short haul smaller flights like A321 or lower. Wide body jets don't anymore feature those personal air vents.

    5:42 just an observation. Most Asian passengers do not like cold air blasting on their face hence part of the reason why the individual air vents are not prioritised in SQ. I’m sure cost savings is the other factor.

    If you guys notice, the mid-haul A350s have different maps compared to their remaining widebodies fleet B777; B787; A380 and even... their long-haul A350s. However, honest to say, I can fly their B787-10/A350-900MH on even longer routes which can be around 12-13 hours. SQ really deserves the best airlines titles

    Good flights, but I agree with David that the breakfast provided on the first flight (Perth-Singapore) could have been a bit more substantial. I have heard from a good number of people that Singapore Airlines have cut back their catering to some extent. The breakfast flight I had from Nadi to Sydney (4 hour sector) earlier in the year on Fiji Airways was much more substantial than the offering on this SQ flight.

      The catering & extras on SQ economy not what they were. Covid has been used as an excuse to cut standards. No fresh fruit. No salt or pepper. No trademark hot towels, meals that are carb heavy. I hope they lift their game as the crews are still excellent but the product not what it was a few short years ago.

    Hey Simply Aviation, I have a question I've been wanting to ask to certified flight reviewers. How do you guys get to record the takeoff and landing and the whole flight itself because when I flew with Air Asia Philippines I got warned at climb to not record. I was using my Cellphone and a Car Holder with Suction. I think it might've been too large what do you recommend for me to use to record my flights? also when I flew with Cebu Pacific they didn't warn me and I was using the same exact device and holder on the window.

    I have to say that having not travelled with SQ since 2018, I was impressed with the products they offered. I was particularly impressed by the SATS sustainable catering offerings. Those small lunchboxes pack a tasty punch and I quite like the wooden/bamboo cutlery. I felt I was fed more between CGK and SIN with SQ than I was with BA between LAX and LHR. Also, the A350-900 felt just as familiar and comfortable as the 777-300ER they use on the CGK sector.

    I have flown Singapore Airlines on the PER-SIN on both the 787 and the A350. Unfortunately, I must say I prefer to fly the Qantas A330 on the route, simply due to the fact that I find the seats on the SQ 787 and A350 uncomfortably narrow. All other aspects of the flight are always amazing, but I really do value comfort over the five star service SQ provide.

    • @cjohnson8126
      @cjohnson8126 Před 9 měsíci +2

      The Qantas a330 actually has the narrowest seats of those three planes having 17.2 inches of width with Singapore airlines having 17.3 inches for the 787 and 18 for the a350. The 2-4-2 of the a330 as opposed to the usual 3-3-3 or 3-4-3 for wide bodies can make it feel less cramped than it actually is though.

    • @anhminho6115
      @anhminho6115 Před 7 měsíci

      That’s because when flying with QF, you are flying their A330s, which are configured in a 2-4-2 layout, so you will feel less cramped than B787s and A350s. Just wait till QF uses 787 for flights to SIN and I believe you’ll change your mind
