This version of Lion’s Mane, trip up and all, is everything
This is my favorite version of Lion's Mane, by far.
Same I just need to learn it on guitar
It's sad that most people would complain about the 'mistakes' but this concert is such a real representation of him as a guy. Just a plain good song writer and a nice dude.
Good
it's sad but not strange, cos the world is crowded by assholesss
Shows he's real
I haven't seen anyone complaining, but his flaws are no mistakes to me. They just make it more perfect somehow.
I love his soul, or the way he expresses himself at least. It's nice and true/
I don't see anyone complaining about the mistakes
the version of upwards over the mountains is so deeply moving in such a dignified way
I was just gonna write that - Mother forgive me cause I sold your car for the shoes that I gave you - is the greatest tune line ever that can be applied on the lives of all the children and women and men of all ages. Cause everyone owes something to his mother. :)
Tuk man *their mother of course :-)
Tuk man Agree and that line is a nice literary reference too...in the Bible several times (Jermiah for example) the prophets chastise the people for "selling (out) the poor for shoes"...
Yes. Forceful. Love it. Brings a different dimension to the song. We could all use a little bit more hope right now.
Just discovered this guy. Fell in love right away.
you have a lot of different stuff to listen to then. And its diverse.
I love how quiet the room gets when he starts playing!
Yeah, that's because the guitar is horrendously out of tune and everyone walked out.
@@bobobandy9382 Get a new pair of ears
Agreed. Doesn't get any better than a great voice, great songwriting, and an acoustic guitar.
This version of Upward Over the Mountain..... goosebumps!!
Everytime I see this guy in a live performance a smile comes to my face. Such a humble guy, great voice, great lyrics and so underrated. Better for us though, who enjoy good-inspiring music.
I love this guy - he has a beautiful soul.
Sam I named my child after you. The music you create is absolutely beautiful.
Living in the UK i got to say a big thank you to KEXP for without i would not discover talented musicians such as Sam Beam. & many more. & of course Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop just the coolest venue ever!
I wish my life were as perfect as his performance of Glad Man Singing.
The earth is always warmer when you laugh :)
# John Mayhem I chuckle light heartily in total agreement brother.
my favorite band/artist. Seeing them live for the first time in May!! Finally I can scratch "See Iron & Wine live" off my bucket list.
This performance never gets old.
He sounds amazing as a live performer. I'm just getting into this music and its 2022. Where have I been?
that one guy reeeeally wants to hear Boy with a Coin.
i love bikes and iron and wine
D. Alex Kablack will u marry me?
such a beautiful voice.. always when I hear a song for the first time I cry...engulfing beauty
I love how real this guy is. I only know a few songs, but I'd love to see him live.
Upward over the mountain is one of my favorite I&W songs; based on these comments, I'm expecting something nothing short of amazing.
This dude is so good!
I wish Sam would release a live album. Seeing him perform Cinder and Smoke at Sasquatch changed his music for me.
He's such a cool guy seems like he would be fun to have a beer with
Or smoke a joint with.
Love his music!!!!
Beautiful. Thank you Sam and thank you KEXP.
Truly fantastic. Seems like a lovely guy too.
Give this guy's beard a Grammy already!
his beard fits perfectly around the mic
And what a crazy astonishing version of Uward Over The Mountain
i think he's the kindest man ever.. he's just so kind...
What an amazing afternoon concert, I appreciate his patience with those shouting guys...
My favourite performer in activity, no doubt!
Thanks Sam
Thanks so much KEXP for this gem! I love I&W
So true
and they all sound perfectly well.
Thank god for " Upward Over The Mountain " guy
I’m so happy you played Jesus the Mexican boy, and woman king! Both favourites of mine!
No words... I love this man ! Thumb up for Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop !!
i love this being. has such an amazing soul ❤️🙏
He's having fun by not playing Boy With A Coin when they call it.
It took me twelve minutes to realize he's playing in a bike shop.
I've seen the movie about twelve times before I saw your comment, which made me recognize it's a bike shop!
Mellow Johnny’s bike shop in Austin Tx.
This just got me super excited. I'm seeing Iron & Wine for the first time live next month! It's going to be absolutely incredible.
love thats its in a bike shop
so much raw talent
I love this singer and his music.
Why not? it was fantastic!
He rarely plays his studio versions live. When I saw him he said something along the lines of "You can listen to the CD at home. I'm here to give you a musical experience." Anywho, it's different, but I think it was a good acoustic/solo version.
i finally found me some real mountain music...Man how i miss them
thanks for posting this. awesome!
All time fav artist next is tallest man on earth
Great little mini concert at a bicycle shop of all places
This is just awesome! Your voice reminds me of Michael Hedges. Thanks for your music!
What a great version of "Woman King" !!!
great show.... and in a bike shop. classic seattle. these more informal music gatherings are big fun to watch. learning a little about the people behind the songs is special, and this dude has such a cool vibe about him. thanks to kexp for hosting this and sharing the results. may your children have children.
He’s in Austin, Texas
@@placebojesus5652 thanks. i knew not….. should have picked up that it was part of sxsw
a poet! get the man a Pulitzer instead of a grammy
this guy plays a different version every time. boy with a coin was so nice
Iron & Wine delivering an awe-inspiring performance in São Paulo last 2nd September is going to be one of my fondest memories ever. Hearing his voice feels like home. I was so overwhelmed that I hardly noticed the bloody mobile/camera freaks and pissing Twilight Saga twats taking stupid selfies during the concert (there should be a law against these people even breathing). But Sam is a perfect gentleman, so he rose above it.
He played for 2 hours straight and that was the case when just a man and his guitar suffice to transcend. I’ve been a fan for 10 years or so but only at the concert did I realise the prodigiously gifted (and yet kind and humble) instrumentalist Sam is. Sometimes, when playing a bluesy tune, he’d go into a solemn trance-like state, meaning every word coming out of his mouth. That was sheer awesomeness! But he had fun as well, cracking jokes now and then.
So I can hardly wait for his next Brazilian tour.
That's how it is at SXSW: They fit them in where they can, all over the city's downtown. I saw Castanets in a church. Good times. Highly recommended if you can afford the tickets (I paid by the day the year I went).
Stave the ego, Feed the soul
This guy embodies that statement
Agreed. I think that was one of the best songs in this performance....
23:59 Upward Over the Mountain
That was such a beautiful performance. :)
Sam Beam may be the best lyricist ever. At least since Paul Simon.
+Kevin Lajoie Paul Simon and Sam beam started their career far after Bob Dylan. Saying duh is just a word to make you feel superior, you should stop that. No one likes someone who is belittling and worse yet, someone who is belittling and wrong
R-R-R-Roger Waters.
Him and bob Dylan. Bob has just great lyrics
Sam's fuckin funny!! At like 28:00 A dude yells out "I love you Sam Beam!" and Sam's like "I love you too. Thanks for coming Dad." LMAO
That smile....
Yes, yes, and yes!
glad man singing is my new favorite song
Oh, so lovely!
get to see him on Monday in Atlanta so excited.
aaron franklin I love you for loving both Bon Iver and Iron & Wine
Can't get enough!
Sam beam is by far my favourite artist

SO SO SO EXCITED!!!! gonna see him in the fall of 2013, n am SO SO SO excited :) thank you for your talent! :)
Amazing set!
Hey I am too! So excited!!
Milwaukee is a deaf ear for winter prayers.
love itt!!!!
That's hysterical. Great comment! (And rare, too.)
Iron and Wine, when will you play the great room at the Sierra Nevada great room in Chico, CA?
Bring Jesca Hoop, if you can.
that falsetto during the lion's mane...
"NAKED AS WE CAME, I SAID" lmao
thanks
saw him at the Bottelrock festival complete with a horn section playing atonal jazz sections. All of the songs he played were completely redone and filled to the brim with energy
Great!
11:45
Now that's some real swag.
amazing!
amazin..ty
That is too wide question. For example my favourite is three by the river. Makes me cry almost everytime :)
❤
He might be tired, but definitely in good spirits :-)
i wanna rob this bike shop!! i love biking!!!! good shit from this mang too.
I'd love to see you do what he does. plain and simple
we are a huge fan of you guys. if you want more music like this help us get our feet off the ground!
You and I is correct as a subject, You and me is correct as an object. He is using it as the object.
But I also think a songwriter can do whatever he wants. It's his song.
Bobby Kenis
my cousin is in that horn section. trumpeteer Jordan Mclean. the tallest man in the band.
New Album Purchased.
i like upward over the mountain personally
check out Half Moon, NPR Tiny Desk concert :)
i'd love to see you come up with it then
So mint! John Lennon is smiling right now.
Cool minor key version of Glad Man Singing
