    I just replaced the trigger spring on my Scorpion as well as the charging handle, trigger, mag release and safety. The spring was a huge pain but your instructions were great. The rest were really easy. This'll be my next modification.

    I installed mine myself thanks to the help of this video. Because of my lack for attention to detail, I ran into a small problem. After about 30 rounds in, I noticed that the handguard was separating from the upper receiver. It was definately an 'Oh shit...' moment. It moved forward a good half inch leaving a noticeable gap, and thankfully I caught it before continuing to fire. My mistakes: I didn't tighten the block screw enough, so my lazy ass got out the torque wrench. Also, I used 242 threadlocker on the first install. I completely bamboozled that one, but I always learn from my mistakes. This firearm is the first that I've actually worked on, and it got a full HBi makeover thanks to their instructional videos. 1000 rounds later and we're still peachy.

      The factory handstop is 1913/picatinny mount, our handgaurd is machined for MLOK. So, you will need to get a different handstop. But there are plenty of MLOK handstop options out there, and we like to recommend magpul # MAG608 as probably the most effective low cost handstop kit. For about $20 you get two different handstop pieces, and they fit such a wide range of handguards (ours and others). Its a nice little kit to keep around.

      1) Why does it say cut the barrel down to ~5" with the micro-handguard? Would a longer barrel affect functioning or is it just aesthetic? Are there any pics of the micro handguard with the OEM barrel?

    • @hb_industries
      @hb_industries  Před 2 lety +1

      "Complete Kit" is everything needed to install the handguard (incl. trunnion/mounting block and all hardware). "Shroud Only" is literally just the handguard shroud; this is useful when a customer would like to buy multiple length/size handguards for one Evo, normally to accommodate various muzzle devices or to shroud suppressors. So the "Shroud Only" option can help certain customers save a little coin, but it can also be confusing, and it is worth asking about. Great question.

Side note, it is important that the tool be completely engaged with the barrel nut when torque is applied. The two flats on the barrel nut are very easy to slip off when rotating and that can cause damage to both the tool and the nut.

      I take it you've never heard of crow's feet? Thats exactly what they are - wrench heads with a square hole in them so you can put them on a ratchet. They work places where a 6 or 12 point socket won't. They make them to use an existing ratchet handle so they can be smaller, use less material, and be cheaper. They are flexible because you can use a longer or shorter ratchet depending on how much room you have and how much leverage you need. I have several full sets of crows feet in my toolbox. And because they use my existing ratchet, I didn't end up buying 40 extra handles.
      On this scorpion, the barrel nut only has 2 flats. Its not a hex, so you can't use a socket on your ratchet to remove it. Instead, you use a crows foot or this tool.

    1) You replaced polymer for metal part? It's heavier and has poor thermal properties, metal accumulates heat.
    2) You do not have the same color? It looks horrible :/
    3) Mounting a large metal block inside? Another additional weight and yet it will serve as a heat conductor.
    I would recommend rather agree with CZ to license and produce a modified front part of the same polymer and the same technology as CZ
    I am surprised that you were allowed to sell. I apologize for criticism, but the whole new front part seems to me unbalanced.

      Mari B. 99.9% of the people that own a Scorpion will not be shooting full auto so the heat is pretty much a non issue, hundreds of guns have metal handguards. And as for the weight you are talking about a few measly ounces of difference. And as for you calling it "ugly", they make these handguards in black and FDE for those if us with flat dark earth Scorpions. Now the pros to this handguard, no more cheese grater, it's more rugged than the oem polymer, and it looks badass!
