    I've been playing with the DBD for 4 months now coming from the CRBN2. At first I was popping up everything because the DBD has much more pop but my drives were an immediate improvement. I decided to stick with it and let me tell you that was a GOOD decision. Now I can control the paddle and it is an all around beast. It allows me to hit every thing with more pace and spin making it much harder for my opponents. Resets and dinking are good now too.

    Solid Review...Great job....I just got my DBD and Filth at the same time. DBD shipped it really fast. They were always out of stock so i wanted to go for B&B Filth after watching the reviews...Filth is a very good paddle only till you have not played with DBD. Once i picked up DBD, i had no hesitation in returning FIlth.

    Just bought DBD paddle after watching this review. Was so intrigued to try it after this review and given the such reasonable price point. Look foward to seeing how it feels compared to my 'diadem warrior edge' that i have been using.

      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      In my opinion it will definitely be an upgrade man. Warriors are ok paddles, but very stiff and power oriented and not very solid in the spin / sweet spot category. I think you're gonna love it man.

    After watching a lot of reviews on the DBD, i bought one on boxing day in the bundle package. I found the grip to feel a bit different to what i was playing with before. The first time i played with it it seemed a bit head heavy, but eventually got used to it. This is the first paddle coming from a fibreglass paddle, and I immediately saw a big difference in feel, third shot drops, dinking, and resets felt a lot easier. Coming from tennis i found the power in this paddle more than acceptable. The spin is just crazy with this paddle. I hit a topspin server that went high and immediately thought it was out but it just dove downward and his the baseline. Love this paddle

    @MetalEsquire Před rokem +1

    I got my DBD 16mm last week and played a 2+ hour doubles advanced-intermediate session so these are just my initial thoughts. Picking it up, it feels nice; solid and noticeably light in the hand but weight balanced. The handle length is ideal; you can easily get extra backhand leverage or do a whippy forehand. I got the pink graphics which look great in the world of pure back CF. I'm not sure how i feel about the stock grip as its kind of thin/rubbery-smooth but that's really a nit pick. Performance, a lot of talk about its power but I felt it was actually nicely soft/plush. hitting serves/drives at about 75% exertion the ball stays comfortably in. Like any paddle, hitting while moving forward or not getting the wrist down on volleys sends the ball out. I felt the spin was the same as the other carbon fiber paddles i have (Electrum E and Solaire) but i didn't do a side-by-side comparison and don't generally hit with immense spin. The sweetspot felt solid like my thermo solaire. The thought that there are even softer thermo paddles than this seems funny. At the net the light weight and solid feel made for great hands/dinking play. Overall I like it because it is very nicely BALANCED. I originally was on the fence between this, the R1 pulsar and the B&B filth even thinking about getting one of those in addition but I was like 'if i can snatch one in the next shipment, ill go with it.' I would not mind trying other paddles to fine-tune exactly which one is the best for me but for me its not worth the time to demo/return so i will definitely keep it.

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      Yeah honestly after using the DBD the filth will be underwhelming. It's just an ok paddle, but the Pulsar and the DBD are just top paddles right now man. You made a solid choice. Also I love pink graphics and am going to get a pink one soon aswell. I think the pink looks awesome!! Great write up. Glad you're liking it :)

    Just got the DBD and I’ll just say it feels different. You’re not gonna click with it right away but that’s ok. There’s more pop than a Joola and definitely more spin. Very light which makes me wonder how the extra weighted DBD would feel. Overall, I’m gonna keep trying it out to see if I’ll stick with it.

      I bought both DBD and Forza. Comparing both still, but definitely if you like spin Forza has more texture for spin. They are very similar to me, but DBD was 8.2 and Forza 7.7 in static weight. Both had great swing weights for fast hands.

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem +2

      Going to say the same thing I said on another comment about this 😊 I like them both a ton! Forza is higher spin and has a bit more power. DBD has a larger sweet spot (in my testing this is what I feel) and feels a touch quicker for hand battles (both are the same stock weight but DBD 16mm is 114 swing weight and Forza 16mm is 117 swing weight) so very similar, I feel the DBD shape is just a touch quicker to maneuver. It would be hard to choose just one as they suit different players games differently. Id say if you value power and spin id go Forza, if you value sweet spot, and hand speed id go DBD. But seriously at the top (Forza, DBD, Pulsar) you just can't really go wrong!

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      Depends on where you measure it to! I measure it to the top of the usable area. I also take the rubber Six Zero grip band off and put an over-grip on so my usable area is closer to 5.6" but when I measured to the top of the Six Zero grip band which would be usable area for a 2 handed backhand it was 5.5". If you measure starting at the bottom of the grip band it is more like 5.3" yes. Thank you for this man! Good info and a good convo to have for others to read and learn from!

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      It's mostly feel. Some CZcamsrs are using an MPH gun and ripping balls as hard as they can. But for me, I'm not usually hitting a ball 100% in play. But as I play with a new paddle over a month, and swap out other paddles that feel relative I can get a good idea of its power in comparison to other paddles available in the same category, and then I make a decision on the rankings. Mainly it just comes from experience, and having basically every paddle in the industry to test constantly.

    My first "real" paddle is the Selkirk Amped S2, then I tried the SLK Halo Power XL, followed by Gearbox GX6 Lightweight. I typically put lead tape on my paddles to get them to about 8.1 oz. I rotated from the S2 mainly because ADHD, but I also wanted to try G1 carbon fiber. It wasn't poppy enough for my preference and I tried the Gearbox because my husband really liked his GX6 midweight. I found the GX6 too unforgiving with mishits (that is not a well-spelled word). I've gone back to the S2 and really dialed in my baseline hitting serves and returns. I think the only thing that's missing is top rated spin and a longer handle for the rare two handed backhand (I tend to slice). Do you think the 6.0 double black diamond should be my next attempt, or should I just get a Selkirk Epic which is essentially a longer handled S2?

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      I think based on this information I would say go for the double black diamond or I'd go with the MUVN 13s I just reviewed. The Double Black Diamond will feel firmer and have more power and spin than the S2, and the MUVN 13S will feel pretty relative, it will just have more spin, a longer grip, and more feedback off the face. It will feel a touch firmer than the S2 but not in a poppy way, more in a way where you feel more of the feedback of the ball off the face which I like. It doesn't feel as muted. Those 2 paddles are top picks along with the Volair Forza right now. But for you I'd go with one of those two. If you have any other questions let me know I love talking paddles.

    I bought the Professor Phd about 2 months ago and instantly loved it. I'm a spin-and-drive type of player, rushing to the net as much as possible. Recently I've noticed that the paddle surface feels smooth and does not have that initial grit, which has definitely shown in loss of spin in serves and slice shots at the net. I'm looking to buy my next paddle, but I don't want to buy another paddle that will "change" so much in such a short amount of time. I've been eyeing the DBD for about two weeks now, but don't want to pull the trigger and go through the same experience. Do you feel that the paddle has changed over your use and if so, which paddle would you recommend for the least amount of "change"? (side note: from what I've read online, Gearbox seems to wear out the least, any thoughts on that?)

      I think the new gearbox paddles coming out would be the most durable and have the least amount of grit wear. I don't know if I entirely agree with this in regards to previous gearbox paddles being the best but they are really good quality for sure. How does this compare to the vatic flash?

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před 11 měsíci

      Fairly relative I'd say the non prism flash has a touch more pop but less spin. Almost 150rpm less spin. And vatic has been having a lot of issues with delamination with their thermoformed paddles and Six Zero has (from what I've heard and experienced) really no issues with delamination. So construction quality of Six Zero is just better overall. ☺️

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před 11 měsíci

      For me I prefer 16mm almost across the board for all paddle except the MUVN 13S. I just like that more plush feel. For me it's off putting to have something rigid and more punishing on off center shots (most thinner paddles). If you're a higher level player and looking for more pop / power for singles etc. 14mm could be a good choice but otherwise I'd go 16mm ☺️

    How does this compare to their Black Diamond Power? I just got the Power and quite honestly it felt soft and the Power I was looking for was not there. I really want to stick with this brand and now maybe considering the Double Black. Thoughts?

    • @stspickleball

      Legacy pro is going to be more pop and power for sure. But the double black diamond has a bigger sweet spot, more spin, and way more feel for soft game play. I'd take a DBD over a legacy for sure.

    • @tagman12
      @tagman12 Před rokem +3

      I would say the opposite here. I think the Vatic flash line has a bit more pop/power due to the face being a little stiffer than the DBD ( I have both). I think the DBD is a bit more forgiving but honestly both a great paddles and you can't go wrong.

      @stspickleball  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yeah! The 14mm is definitely more poppy and has a bit less forgiveness for sure. It's hotter off the face but for me the 16mm DBD is just incredible man. So balanced, tons of spin, plenty of forgiveness, and still has enough power. I'd go 16mm for sure.

      @tagman12 Před rokem +2

      While I am not an official reviewer, I have all 3 DBD (Black Diamond, 14 & 16 DBD). They all place similarly but the BD version is definitely, poppier with more power and a bit harder to control in the soft game. The 16 is the best in the soft game beating out the 14 and the 14 is easier to control than the BD paddle. The BD I would says is still and all court paddle that can be used for doubles but requires more control in your game. I have weighted all the paddles and now play equally with the 14 and 16 and less with the BD due to the control factor ( I need to spend more time with the BD as its too is a great paddle). Let me know if there is something specific you're wondering about.

    • @cwarner5909
      @cwarner5909 Před rokem +1

      The DBD is a thermoformed paddle it would compare closer to the Vatic Pro Flash. The thermoformed paddles are stiffer and have more pop. I have used the Prism Flash 16mm and it plays very well but is a little softer than the pro. The Prism is now available in a 14mm it should play with a bit more pop.

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  Před rokem

      If I had to choose between the two I would choose the DBD. But as @cwarner5909 said the DBD will be a touch stiffer and have a bit more power / pop. So it depends on what you're looking to prioritize. But I think the DBD is incredible quality for the price for sure.
