I keep a crochet hook handy when I'm knitting so that if I drop a stitch or two it's easier to pick up with the crochet hook..thank you for these tips....really helpful
I’m sitting here with a huge grin on my face - after laughing at...myself! For yeeears I have chased dropped stitches by (are you ready??) knitting backwards! I have spent SO much time and energy (needlessly!) chasing dropped stitches lol. Watching your video gave me the exact same “Ah-Ha!” moment/feeling I have had - like when my first really great math teacher in college (!) explained how and why a formula worked and I understood it clearly! You have a GIFT for teaching! You clearly understand what knitters don’t see or understand, which is actually a rare trait in teachers, instructors, trainers, managers, etc. Follow that with an open, accessible, non-judgmental style, and top it off with well-explained, easy-to-understand directions that can be followed at a pace that allows users to literally follow along, and you have exactly what it takes to bring ALL knitters, not just beginners, to a new level, or the desire to achieve a new level, which can be the same thing! If you are not a professional instructor, teacher, or manager, and you want to be one, you have all sorts of paths available to you. Ok, so I got way off-topic (not too surprising, considering I taught myself how to knit backwards instead of how to pick-up a dropped stitch!) but you have a rare and wonderful gift. Thank you!
What a superb video! I love the fact that you used extra large needles and chunky yarn to make the stitches very apparent. Your pace was excellent and your verbiage was spot-on. Good job!
I feel like learning about the lifeline has increased my life expectancy by at least 5 years.
KITT on Twitch agree! I have almost been in tears a few times already so that idea is brilliant
I've been knitting over 50 years and I can tell you this was one of the clearest tip tutorials for beginners I've seen. NICELY DONE!
Woohoo! We are honoured you feel that way. Thanks :D
Your explanation of how to pick up a dropped stitch in garter stitch is great.
This video is so great! So many of my questions answered- and some I didn't even know to ask. Thank you so much!!!
I have been knitting for several years and always had problems with picking up stitches. Thank you so much for this information - I have loved ALL of the tips. Will definitely follow you for now on!
Thank you from a not so new knitter but one who wasn't taught well. LOL! Your tips are very clear and helpful.
Thank you so very much. Especially the dropped stitches and how to unravel. You made it so easy. Thank you 🙏🙏
I have been knitting only a few years and this tips are awesome. So many questions answered.
16:19 -> 8/ How should I join a new ball of yarn
I stumbled on this video while searching for the answer to this question, and this video explains it so simply - thank you :)
Every new knitter should watch this video. So helpful
What a great video! Your explanations and the slow pace at which you explain are perfect. I have knitted for a few years and still appreciated this. Thank you!!
Thank you so much!!! These tips were the answer to my knitting issues. I love knitting, but lacked the skills to do the things I wanted to accomplish. The young lady was wonderful and very clear in her instructions.
Love love love this video...I am ready (at 59) to start knitting!! Thank you!!
This is a very helpful knitting video; I didn't know about a lifeline until I watched this. Thanks!
This is such an amazing video for beginners! I have just completed my first ever sewing project... a scarf! Obvs! 😏 And followed another one of your videos which helped me cast on and off which I have never been able to do on my own! Thank you for these videos they are very helpful! And now I have discovered Wool and the Gang yarn 👍☺️
I wish this video existed 6 months ago!!!Especially the part with the first stitch for the second row!Great video!!!Thank you :)
I used to use the knife hold technique until i saw mom holding her right needle under her armpit, now it feels easier & more natural to me to hold it that way
@Khouloud El Meziani,
I know this is late but, armpit?
Shmu10, check out "lever knitting". You hold the right knitting needle under your arm or use a knitting belt. It looks interesting, but I haven't tried it yet myself. 😊
I was taught by this lovely Scottish lady who isn't my aunt by blood but is also definitely my aunt
And she taught me this way, I've never ever been able to do it any other way, (kinda annoying but it meant I picked up knitting quicker because it felt natural)
What an ingenious way to use bulky yarn to demonstrate how to knit and all the knitting techniques. Excellent teaching video. Very helpful to a beginner like me. Thanks
Never knew about the lifeline. Very clever. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. I have knitted at primary levels for a long time but now. Can spread my wings...Great job!
omg! you are the bomb! so incredibly helpful. i just learned to knit this am and this will be a video I will watch over and over.
thanks and cheers!
Thank you, I was always pull my yarn too tight at that first stitch
So clear and precise, such easy directions to follow. thank you.
Thank you for your tips! I learned a few things that will be part of my continuing knowledge of becoming a better knitter! Cheers to you for being clear and concise in your explanation and for providing good visual.
Fabulous and extremely clear and very easy to understand! Delighted to have found it.
Hi,tip number 5 and 6 really helped me because before watching your video i was counting the rows wrong. And since i didn't know how to start from the mid row i never left it in the middle and always used to finish the row even if it was an emergency but after seeing tip number 6 i did not have to worry about leaving the row in between.
Thank you for these tips.
👌👍🙂😀
What a great teacher you are. Thank you for sharing your talents.
This is one of the best videos I have watched for new knitters !!! Thank you!
Glad it helped you!
From all of the knitting tutorials that I have watched, this is the best beginner tips! I mean, this is really easy to see and I like it when there is captions. Keep up the good work WOOL AND THE GANG.
Yayyyy thanks so much :)

Thank you so much for this video. It is very helpful. And my dear, your hands are lovely! I loved watching you and listening to you speak, and I learned how to fix some problems I have been having. Thanks again.
Thanks a lot... I am starting a project for a little one... really useful video, thank you
Lifelines!! Brilliant idea I have started the same project 4 times now. Definetly going to introduce them. Thanks!!
Thank you for showing how to count stitches using different colors for cast on and off. Super helpful!
By far the best and clearest knitting tips and tutorials. Thank you.
never heard of a life line! great tip and will use it.
Thanks for those tips and the beautifully made video. I've only recently come across wool and the gang and with christmas approaching I'm in full warm socks, coffee (usually forgotten whilst knitting) and cozy lighting knitting mode. =D I've been browsing through all your different yarns and with the sales going on at the moment I'd love to find a nice color and yarn to make a scarf, hat or blanket or other with. A video idea I have for you guys would be something in which you present your different yarns and a selection of popular colors with knitting samples. Have a great Christmas season.
I started knitting yesterday and am now spending hours and hours knitting a scarf with really fine yarn.:P But hopefully the result will be worth it. Btw, isn't a lifeline especially handy for a beginner like me? I keep messing up my stitches, losing them and stuff like that.
oh.. my.. god!!! I'm a beginner as well and only know the basics. I was up to tip No.8 when I read your comment, and could not understand what you were talking about. I just watched tip No.9 and learned what a lifeline is and I just feel blessed! I always ruin my project and start over. that was eye-opening and life-changing!
I just finished a scarf it was knitted with fine yarn
its been 3 years, was it worth it?
I knitted a scarf with fine yarn in three days
Thank you for this video! I finally understand how to sew in the tails. Your explanations were very clear and understandable and I never knew about the lifeline before. You are awesome!
My mother taught me how to knit years ago but it has been years since I bothered to knit anything, so great to see someone young who has a passion for it.
Thanks!
WOOLANDTHEGANG
I know right 13 but I learned to knit when I was 10 and loved it I haven't really had time to knit since then so I'm trying to catch up and get back where I was and stuff but with WATG it's been really easy and it's great that they appreciate knitting and it's just a great thing to do
I learned knitting when i was 8 from my grandma. Then I learned it again when I was 21 and knitted a neat scarf with my mother together, that I still wear. Now I'm almost 30 and beside my newly find passion for crochet, I started to knit again. It is hard to find time for it, but it makes me at ease. It is a good hobby. :)
Thank you for sharing this! I really Appreciate your tutorials.
Absolute pleasure. We're so happy to hear that you enjoy them!
I am Going through tips and tricks of knitting before I start my very first project! This was so clear and helpful thank you!
Thank you.😊 You answered how to know which way to pick up a dropped stitch. Yay! I never was completely sure when I had to do it in the past.
Wonderful! # 7 and # 9 are the best tips ever for me! Thank you.
What a fantastic, practical video for new knitters. Thank you so much!
OMG! I just got to 7 and had to stop because you have made that so clear!!! I have to go to the store and do errands but I have saved this video for later and will probably watch it and all your other videos as I need them! I wish I had come here to learn sooner.
Oh my, this is excellent. Helpful to me as an established knitter and would be terrific for new knitters. Thank you.
ive knitted for years and these tips have been so helpful. Thank you.
I learned a lot. Thank you!
This helped a lot. I just finished knitting something and when I watched the video, I realized that I had threaded my ends in the wrong way. You can clearly see where I threaded the yarn through, even though it is the same color. I fixed it and now it looks way better!
I have just started knitting and your video was awesome. I had just finished my first scarf a week ago and wished I had found this before hand. I feel like you have seen my scarf, because your video covered ever single problem I encountered, especially number #10. I also would have saved hours of starting over, if I had known about the "life line" tip.
I will now go and start over and I know it will come out beautifully. Thank you so much! Everyone of the 10 tips will be used...Fantastic Job!!
( I know this video was made awhile ago, so i hope that you will still receive this)
Yayy! So happy to have helped :)
Thank you so much for these tips. I was wondering how to fix a dropped stitch, now I know. All these tips are really very useful for me. I specially like the one I just mentioned and the "lifeline" tip. I am presently working on a simple K3, P3 pattern, and, somehow, no matter how carefully I try to remember to take my worked stitch off my left needle, I wind up with extra stitches, sometimes. With using a "lifeline," as you demonstrated, it will be so much easier to correct my mistake(s). Thank you again for sharing all these tips.
Thanks for your video...beginners like myself really needed to know these tips.👍
Videos are always SOOOO helpful!!! They always answer all my questions that books and other channels just assume that you know so thank you!!!

Such great tips!
Frickin' LIFELINE baby! Oh man! I was so sick of starting over I was ready to give up knitting for good. I've learned unpicking but there was several times I had to unpick over 25 rows! What a hassle that was! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Wool and The Gang, I just have to tell you guy's and gal's I love y'all, your video's are AwEsOmE
Thank you! I am a new knitter and I learned so much watching this video. 😀
Thanks for answering all my questions that I did not want to ask but should have.
I just love your Wool and the Gang videos! I learned so much just from watching two videos! So ready to give knitting a try again after so many years of crocheting. Thanks so much!
Do give it a go.. Lots of fun. We also love crochet too.

kloeverblomst can someone tell me how to add another ball of yarn to a working project properly PLEASE?
Beth Adamik hi, you tube search "the Russian join by Bella Cocoa, I find this technique gives neat results, or there is another technique for crochet that can also be applied to knitting. Hope this helps or gives you ideas. :)
Thanks for tutorial video, you made it easy to understand. Appreciate the tips for beginners like me! 👍

Thank you, I learned alot of things that I was doing wrong. I learned how to correct my mistakes the right way, thanks
Hugely helpful. I am just at the point of learning where I'm starting to read actual patterns (rather than beginner stuff like discloths and gather scarves) and this video answered several questions that I had. The section about tension squares and stitch counting were especially great. Saved me searching out four or five separate videos. :)
Yay! Glad it was helpful! Happy knitting :)
I am forever thankful for teaching me what a lifeline is. god bless you!!!
