Really close to the Termini Station, there’s the biggest church dedicated to Saint Mary: the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. I made this walk in the post-lockdown Rome.
The location is the Esquiline Hill, a really multiethnic district: in January here We have the celebrations for the Chinese New Year!
During this walking tour, I visited some Medieval Towers in the middle of Rome, and from the Church of St. Martin on the Hill I moved to the Oppian Hill.
The (in)famous Emperor Nero built his Domus Aurea (Golden House) over here, and Trajan built over his Baths. After a special view of the Colosseum, I ended this tour by the incredible church of Saint Peter in Chains: inside there’s the famous Moses of Michelangelo, made for the tomb of the Pope Julius II.
