- This is an old hymn that I first heard by the Whitstein Brothers. I believe the Blue Sky Boys also did it in a similar arrangement in the 40's or 50's. A quick search on Google shows that it was also recorded by Mahalia Jackson and by Loretta Lynn among others. I didn't see info for who wrote it. Maybe Leon Estes can chime in with that info. We hope you enjoy this song.
We sing this at our monthly gospel sings that a dear lady hosts. One of the ladies ,a sweet woman from the hills of Kentucky, cryed every time we sang it. She is with the Lord now.

My grandpa was song leader at the church I attended. He made sure this was sung every mother's day. Now it has even more meaning as my mom will have been gone 7 years around christmas time. Oh!! How I miss her and my dad.

I lost my Mom in May 21,2021.She was 94 years old She is with my Dad now. I sure miss them both.
