Kwandi quilt making has become my secret obsession. They are each so unique and knowing they were started by my ancestors who were captured and enslaved it gives me a sense of joy to honor them.

  • @MompeaTexan76

It would have beneficial if more time was spent creating the quilt

I have followed Margaret Fabrisio on CZcams (atree3) for years. She has first hand historical video of the women doing this type of quilting. It is a must to see this. Kawandi has such a pure spirit which you will find as you watch. I enjoyed your video so much and look forward to more.

You are so lovely to listen to, Pearl! I somehow missed this video when it was new. Nice to see a few familiar faces there - and, of course, Lorena!

I'm enjoying this style of quilting also. I have a question that I haven't found the answer to after watching multiple videos is, do the stitches have to line up one above the other? Or is it just to keep the stitches consistent and the spacing of the rows consistent the idea?

So enjoyed your video. One of these days when I have a break in other projects I want to make something Kawandi….perhaps a shopping bag for the farmers market. What beautiful lush scenery…..except for that dang MacDonald’s. That junk will kill ya🤣

I loved this little video.....PACKED with information and inviting to (as you say,) Zen! Thank you! [...and now I will have to look to see IF you moved forward, and made another project with the inspiration you gained! It would make a great video, pointing-out the differences + similarities of the "modern", as you learned in the class, and TRADITIONAL Kawandi . . . . .<< It would be nice, with what I have just learned is your "way"/approach at explaining!] ☺🙏🙏

I really like the composition of this video. Many decades ago I planned a trip to New Zealand but….as I needed to work while there and the job I had lined up required no special skills I was denied a visa so never made it! Well I now can see the scenery vicariously through you 😊

I just discovered Kawandi thanks to Margaret Fabrizio an artist extraordinaire in San Francisco when one of her videos from 11 years ago popped up in my feed. That was 4 days ago. I am hooked and loving it!
