      Too bad that Dahmer was killed in prison by a fellow inmate. I don't know the actor's age offhand, but Dahmer was in his late 20s when this was first in theaters.

      Die Hard was atypical for a 1980s action film though. It was a like a prototype of 1990s action films - but with an R-rating. The hero is relatively normal, the body count is fairly small, the villain's plot makes sense etc. It's a lot more grounded than e.g. Predator or Commando.

He is in a cloud cuckoo land, an airy fairy land, a land with unicorns and leprechauns. He cannot form words, cannot make a sound. He is in a quiet world. Very _very_ quiet. He sure is grounded these days. Very grounded.

    This guy was Necros from The Living Daylights. One of my all time favorite Bond villains. The dude was totally kick ass. Exploding milk bottles FTW

      I thought the scene where Necros kills Bond's rival agent with the sliding door was funny.
      Bond settles his differences with Saunders, completing the character arc. Saunders is killed 10 seconds later. So if your character arc completes in the second act of a movie, you're about to die.

    His name was Tony. Karl’s brother. Tony was an Electrician. His job was to re-rout the coms/alarms network. He was not in charge of the detonators. That was Heinrich’s responsibility, alongside Marco and Uli who helped set up the explosives on the roof.

      True. There was even a mention about Marco when Karl went to Hans with bad news. He clearly said "He wasn't lying about Marco. He's down on his cheek (dead). And, uh, his bag is missing." Hans is stunned and said "He had the detonators."

      It was a very specific and pointed reference to this movie. Stranger things is a massive tribute to a lot of 80s media and tropes.

    You have to hand it to the stuntman for being able to land *exactly* on his head so he can sell the shot that John Broke his neck with the fall.
    Otherwise, if they had added the "crunch" effect anyways, it would have been as hilariously fake as James Cann's "invisible punch" when beating up Carlo in "The Godfather."
    Pure professionalism, and fine in-camera stuntwork. Bravo.

    Title is wrong, Tony did not have the detonators, Heinrich did, but anyways great scene. Love how when McClane puts the gun to his head, is repeated later when Karl does the same to McClane right before their fight.

      Thank God someone else realized that Tony was not the detonator guy. That is 100% Heinrich who dies when he enters the boardroom a bit too early before Marco can back him up. McClane of course, dispatches Marco from below the table upon heeding his timely advice.

And the other man was Heinrich, and his bag is missing". Heinrich enters second (wearing the white sweater) and is immediately shot by McClane.

    I wonder if McClane had unknowingly annoyed Tony with the power saw at 0:58 which reminded him of his brother Karl cutting the telephone cables with the chainsaw earlier in the film. Perhaps Tony lets his guard down at 1:18 because he thinks it his brother toying with him again.

      The roof gets blown up, which causes the FBI heli to get blown up. The entire first floor of the building gets destroyed via C4 along with 1 elevator shaft. Military RV gets decimated by gov't issued rocket launcher. Wow.

      @@thatabu Actors are usually typecast into roles by hollywood and cannot get work for anything BUT that one role, or are afraid to try other roles for fear of nuking their career (see: carrot top). Michael Douglas did the same when he played as D-FENS in "Falling Down". It was a role totally outside his element and comfort level as an actor and he initially did not want to do it, but he changed his mind and it later became one of his best movie roles.

      Let's be real, it was an accidental death caused by both of them losing their balance and tumbling down the stairs which lead to the guy accidentally breaking his own neck or McClain landing on the guy's head causing his neck to snap. There was nothing strategic about this killing cause he never intended on killing him but as they say "shit happens" lol.

    This actors name is Andreas Wisnewski. The previous year he was in the James Bond film The Living Daylights as KGB Assassin NECROS, although he's never named onscreen, and he utilised something really cool that I've never seen in any other film, Milk Bottle shaped Grenades 🙂

      They didn't know it was a guy with a gun and so forth. They figured it was just someone who had escaped being a hostage and could handle it easily. Also, the terrorists were trained.

When he jumps back down he sees John and fakes being an escaped hostage and tries to get his gun but McClane happens to stop him. Once he had the gun John gave him, he calls for backup secretly on his walkie talkie, remember?

    1) Andreas Wisniewski, the bad guy in this scene, previously played a henchman in Timothy Dalton's 1987 debut The Living Daylights
    2) After this movie was shot, Robert Davi, Grand L. Bush (the two Agent Johnsons), and composer Michael Kamen would work on Timothy Dalton's last James Bond film Licence to Kill
