    My 2018 Subaru Forester's "Manual Transmission/Differential" oil change is identical to this video, but the 2018 Forester has a monocoque frame design. The drain plug is identical and the fill is through the same hole but possessing a grey plastic dipstick with the word "Diff" molded into the plastic. The 2020 model year was the last year Subaru sold Foresters with a manual transmission/differential.

      I also have a 2014 Forester. Did you have to drop the belly pan to access the drain plug?

    Dosent seem like 52 ft lb is very much, considering how hard they are to remove?

    Does it matter if gear oil has limited slip additive in it?

      Some gearboxes cant handle anti wear stuff you can get more synchro wear and some autotransmissions should absolutely not get an additive in the fluid cuz of possibility of slips and burnt friction material in the clutches

    Is there a filter that needs to be replaced?

    • @questioner1596
      @questioner1596 Před rokem

      Most manual transmissions don't have a filter; just the magnetic drain plug.

    The torque wrench is much more than "useful" - it's necessary.
