    a bit of humor: when I started this card making hobby and embossing powder first hit the crafting market, there was no way to heat it other than hold it over a candle flame or your stove burner!!!! Fire and paper? yeah I know...but it worked. what a great day when heat tools came along.

    As a person who has been stamping since the late 80s - early 90s, and have embossing powder‘s that go back to when Personal Stamp Exchange was still in business, I can attest to the fact that the embossing powder‘s will work forever. The key to good embossing is having a wet, juicy pad. Versa mark is great, and some of us older stampers still have our Color Box pads. Color Box was the first company to come up with slow drying pigment pads and you could use a colored ink with clear embossing powder If you had limited funds.. Color Box came out with Versa Mark, I think, which was originally a pad designed to leave a watermark on dark papers. I recently saw at my local Hobby Lobby that Color Box is now been owned by Momenta.

      Ha! I have several Colorbox pads that STILL work! I am happy to have a place to say this, because it's pretty amazing!!! I also have some really vintage Rubber Stampede ink spot & ombre pads that still have stamp-able ink! I don't use them, just keep them for memory's sake. But it blows my mind each time I check and they're not dry! Haha. The good ol' days!

    Yeah another of your embossing powder videos. It's great to watch all of the many ways people have discovered using these powders. I've had great results so far clear embossing over copic inks, and all pigment and distressed ink colors too. So great you demonstrated the use of older embossing powders. I suspect a lot has to do with storage as in keeping it dry and away from direct light. I've used actually 20 year plus older embossing powders I had back in the day of rubber on wood stamps only. Now with the clear and rubber without blocks there is so many more ways to use and explore stamping. Especially with the use of embossing powders clear and translucent or opaques. I'm off to do some exploring myself with your wonderful video shares today to help bolster and carry me on my next journey of discovery.

    Hi There!
    I love your channel! I wish I could afford all the items you have. You create some really beautiful cards. This may be a really stupid question but I am just starting to craft. Most of the cards I have seen made, don't fold or have a inside and if they do, it is never shown. Is it me? Do people just send cards like postcards? Do you sign them? I usually put a personal message in all my cards 🙃. Just wondering... also do you use Tim Holt fussy cut scissors? If so are they really good, they seem expensive so I just wondered. Thank you😀

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks so much Lisa!
      Not a stupid question at all. I usually just don't show the part where I attach the card panel to a card base (the folded portion) because I noticed people stopped watching at those points in my videos lol.
      I do own the Tim Holtz Mini Snips and they are good quality. I own a few pairs of small scissors and I usually reach for my Cutterbee's, but the Tim ones are super well made and high quality. I think all my small scissors were about the same price. I don't usually mind spending a little extra for tools like that because I tend to keep them for years and years.

    Hi, I make things with clay and I want patterns to have the embossing power in.
    Do I have to use the ink or can I just pour over the gaps to melt and then seal after, because I can't paint the ink inbetween and get it that precise?

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  Před 10 měsíci

      You definitely don't have to use ink! Any adhesive would work. Also if you can't use adhesive you can even get embossing powder to stay put with water and then heat set it!

    Is there a way to apply the "liquid", for lack of a better term, via another means than stamp pad? In other words, because it has only JUST occurred to me, could we simply pour on the gooey stuff? You would certainly get as good a coverage if applied by bottle? Crafting changes, why not this? :-).

      Try letting your heating tool heat about 30 seconds before using it on ur project.

    • @RebeccaKeppel
      @RebeccaKeppel  Před 3 lety

      Hmmmm not sure what the issue is, but I agree with Lisa....try letting your heat tool get nice and hot before bringing it to your project. If that doesnt work, make sure you are getting a nice coat of embossing ink on to really hold the powder in place.
      Which heat tool are you using and which embossing ink?

      @RebeccaKeppel  Před 3 lety

      @@nancystrebel3339 I've not used the Hampton Art Embossing pad before, but it needs to be VERY sticky to keep the embossing powder in place, it may need re-inking? And I do know the Marvy heat tool is a good one. As long as it is working right, it should be expelling heat more than air.
