I go through some of Robert Richardson's cinematography techniques to help you understand his unique style.
Just to be clear: Robert Richardson changes his style to suit the movies he shoots. The goal of this video and article is to drum up enthusiasm and a yearning to learn more.
Think of it as a tribute, nothing more is intended.

What's in my camera bag: wolfcrow.com/recommended-gear/
Ahhh cant wait to see his work once upon a time in hollywood and the batman
I'm here after the batman announcement. I am hype.
this aged poorly lmao
Would've been so cool
At least we're getting Venom 2 out of it.
One of the top three DOPs working today. Such stunning images.
Robert is so good that not only he won three oscars but his camera man who worked under him also went on to win three oscars as well, back to back.
who was the cameraman?
Sam Davies Chevo
I would love to see Robert Elwsit.
I learn so much from these. Thank you so much for taking the time and making these videos.
your stock is amazing, it really helps to be a cinematographer. Thank you so much.
If it's anything like what we saw in Hateful 8, The Batman is going to look beautiful
He will always be my favorite cinematographer
Bruno Delbonnel is my favorite DP. Your analysis is great, I would love to see you do one on Delbonnel!

Excellent video. Thanks
+Sameir Ali You're welcome!
Another legend you can consider for your list, Sven Nykvist!
+Saideep Sambaraju Absolutely, coming soon!
Mmmmmmmm Nykvist is soooo great !!
I worked with him once about 30 years ago on a short film, early in his career. We melted the top of a desk what a hot spot light.
Interesting! I'll bet some of the actors can tell stories about suffering under those hot lights but it's worth it for the end result.
very informative thanks!

Great Video. I like Chung Chung Hoon, please, make one of him!
This is great info, great video,
but when going into details of numbers in how the cameras are calibrated, perhaps images of a camera with what you're describing would help
Another thing, it's Robert Richardson that makes me real interested in Live By Night.
Thanks!
I'd like to see the cinematography of Robert Yeoman analyzed. He has some questionable films but I love his work with Wes Anderson. Great videos!

He's pretty young in the DP world, but I would love a dissection of Bradford Young. I can only describe he's visuals as "milky" if that makes sense ha!
Benoît Debie, I really like his work too.
+bobunitone I'll add them to the list.

Douglas Slocombe. He is no more but I like the look of the first 3 Indiana Jones films.
Great video. I don't really like Robert Richardson style, though.
Thanks!
Nothing from Inglorious Basterds! So suspicious. Great video though.

Smh man. Respectfully not mentioning the movie? This youtube and that's just lame.
+AnigmaEntertainment yawn
Lmao at the lowkey insults.
A lot of his early, backlit stuff looks pretty cringy now.
Your tongue almost slipped when you tried to say "highly egotistical"... Be careful! Viewers don't want to get confused scorcese with testicle..
