Nathan, I love the “zoom out” concept. Here’s a brain-science illustration. As a kid, I had an old-school doctor tell me to watch him insert a needle into my arm (UNLIKE the current practice of doctors today). He told me he did this on the field during the war. Then he said, “Before I put the needle in, in your mind, draw a penny-sized circle around the spot where it will be inserted, and remember that no pain will leave the boundaries of the circle.” When I did, I felt the pin-prick, but it was as if it was happening only in the little circle I mentally drew and not throughout my whole body, thereby minimizing the pain exponentially! In essence, ZOOMING OUT and watching the pain happen only in a small area. I told my kids to do the same and IT WORKS!

This is actually a form of hypnosis and there was actually a time when it was quite common for doctors to use hypnosis to calm down patients especially kids as they can enter a more suggestive state quite easily compared to adults.

    1. Embrace reality
"An ounce of doubt keeps me sharp"
Toughness -> determined by your expectations
Short term pessimism + long term optimism
    2. Acknowledge the pain but maintain equanimity
    Zoom out and explain
Reappraise how discomfort might be beneficial
    Reassure everything is temporary
    3. Satisfy your psychological needs and you'll work harder than ever
Generate a feeling of Autonomy Competency and Belonging

"Zoom Out and Explain" is also a spiritual concept called Awareness. It's the saying that you are not your thoughts and emotions, but the real You is the Awareness behind those thoughts and emotions (the person hearing those thoughts and emotions). Meditation helps build the muscle of your Awareness by listening to your breath leave, and then listening to you inhale...and then when your mind drifts, the workout (or muscle building part of it) is to BRING BACK the mind to listening to your breath.

I got scammed by a scammer. $43k in my account was just wiped out. The bank is working on investigation to see if they can dispute. This got me shocked and anxiety hit me hard. I cried and cried. Bills, and mortgage need to pay and no one to turn to. I’m a self employed. I sell real estate and there no deals to closed for the last few months since the interest is high. Now I’m apply for a job at the company and I hope that they hires me. I don’t have much skill or highly education. I also apply for the bakery shop to work for a minimum pay rate.
This is the most painful moment that I’m going through. I have no money and no one to ask for help. Yes, I have to be mentality strong and get myself together and bounce back but this is the most resentful feeling I’m going through at the moment.

At 31 i had to reflect on my life, I was unhappy and felt i needed to find my passion in life. I reflected that I one was good and excelled in controlled environments.
Two I loved pushing my body beyond limits i thought it could.
I was a wild land fire fighter when i was in my early 20s i loved the training and how hard it was, I loved the team aspect and having my guys and girls back out there to make sure we all went home.
I love service work i help addicts and people experiencing homelessness.
So i decided to enlist in the Army National Guard.
I am waiting on a wavor i got into some trouble and need a wavor to get accepted. I am nervous as shit and i know its because i care so much. And its what i want to do with my life.

2- REAPPRAISE. See the positives/benefits of any difficulty. Its how you interpret things. Perception. Its not what happens to you, its what happens for you.

I did all this and focused on building business and running marathons , Both things attracted a woman who became my wife , The past 7 years ago her abuse to every aspect of my life destroyed me and now I’m left with Ankylosing spondylitis which got my body to be weak , she left me and I don’t know why I fell for her in first pace, she was after my stability and resources. I always knew she was a carrousel rider and she didn’t love me deeply. I can’t believe how people pray on others , life is short, I think corruption is rampant among feminists and their endeavors to break men, I finally pulled the plug while at my lowest point, Losing my business that I gave 30 years and now I’m 52 years old trying to heal and lift up , The only big problem I have is loneliness anxiety and the anxiety of my multiple injuries from falls and health condition which was triggered by extreme abuse treatment
