You handled the video so respectfully. Your kindness speaks volumes.
@@lora9664 Yes, she always does everything with so much love and grace, I'm in awe of her!!🥰
I kept thinking that throughout this video. I work with folks with mental illness and she was so respectful.
Not a picking situation , but I met a man at a store I worked at about 7 years ago whose alcoholic wife had passed. She was rather volatile so he had been living with his daughter. The woman had completely trashed their house and it was piled up 6-7 ft high. He had some church folks come to help a couple times but they just saw it all as trash and that upset him greatly.
I went to help him for two days, got everything sorted- clothes, jewelry, dishes, books, papers, photos etc and filled up two boxes of large trash bags with nasty and got it to the curb. That house was sorted out and done the first day. The second day I got the house cleaned so he had a sanitary place to live. I was so glad to be a blessing to the old guy! Texas Deb
Thank you for taking care of those flags. As veterans, my husband and I appreciate it.
💕
My local dry cleaner will clean a flag for free, maybe check into that before destroying your beautiful flag!
Thank you for your service ❤
I feel the same. My late husband was very proud of our flag n our country. He always made sure our flag was blowing in the wind in our home. ♥️😊👍
I am so glad she contacted you two! She knew you would take care of the finds
Thank you
*Yvonne, ATMOSKLEAR also WORKS ON FABRICS, so you could spray it on the American Flags; I have before - and on clothes, too‼️😉*
Wow! What an opportunity!! You were very kind when speaking of the former owners. You indeed found some great treasures!
It’s a mental illness… I felt bad for them
WOW!!! I am haunted by what is still buried! All those memories! Prayers for those suffering from what creates the situation ❤
I know.. you just couldn’t move the stuff enough. I can see why she keeps going back little by little. 💕💕
Thank you for taking the time to respect our flag and taking the extra effort to have it taken care of properly!
That person was so kind n sweet to tell you about the 2 houses. ( wish someone would share that with me)
Yes, that house was full almost to the ceiling. I think you n Chris found some cool stuff. It’s amazing the items we seem to gather in our lives n these 2 houses gathered quite a bit. Finding the goodies you saved them from the land fill. It really breaks my heart to see all that’s in the 2 houses will be literally dumped in a landfill with dirt piled on top of it all.
♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🐈⬛🐈⬛🙏
Thank you for saving our flags. ❤
You and Chris were truly blessed with the haul from the houses. Some very nice items, the rusty coffee can, the shoe shine box snd thank you for rescuing the flags. Be well. 🤗
You might consider taking the whiskey to an auction house that sells antique wine, etc.
I have never dug thru a hoarder's house but enjoyed seeing the goodies that you and Chris found. Lots of good things. I am surprised there was not any mice or rats running around in it. Thanks for sharing your day!!!
You found some neat and unique things. That was super nice of her to think of you.
Thank you for the cold rinse for hair conditioner. It made a big difference.
You are so welcome! Glad you found it helpful 💕
I really feel for people who have this condition. It’s a mental health issue usually. They don’t want to live this way but are so overwhelmed they can’t function. I’m glad you and Chris were able to rescue some of this. I think you got some wonderful pieces ❤
Yes, thank you for taking care of the American Flags, I always pick them up when I see them at thrift stores.
The metal donkey is a paperweight from Timberjack. There was a Timberjack factory in my hometown of Woodstock, Ontario. They made equipment for the forestry industry.
We bought a house from our neighbor. She had 4 different strokes over the years n knew she wasn't coming back home to stay. So she sold us the house n said we could keep any n all the things inside. She wasn't going to need any of it. We were blessed n we were able to bless others as well.
So much severe mental illness is involved with these homes. But glad you could salvage some of the stuff. Bless you and Chris.
I have a beautiful piece that I salvaged. The smell was awful. It is still outside but the smell is fading enough that I can try to refinish it.
It is.. heartbreaking
And so kind to not talk bad about the person with the illness.
You are such a kind person. So glad you had this opportunity. TYFS
It’s so good that people are allowed to come into hoarder houses that are under foreclosure so that whatever can be salvaged and saved from the dump, can be.
Did you say “What’s the quinky-dink with that?”….i can’t stop laughing! I😂😂😂
What a unique adventure. You guys are definitely the right kind of people for a job like this. It definitely couldn't of been easy. It's definitely sad to see peoples belongings left to rot. I always wonder what the stories are when you f things like this. It's definitely a wonderful thing you did saving the flags and bibles.
I love Murphy's Oil Soap.
My first thought was “ I sure hope you two wore gloves”. I don’t think I could have done that. Thank you for saving these items from the dump. I have watched a couple that actually did dumpster diving videos and I was appalled 😳 greatly, by what they found in the dumpsters. Y saved some nice items. 😊❤
We tried to protect ourselves as much as possible. ( could have used a true has mat suit)
And a mask.
I totally respect you two for doing what you do! Me and my husband bought an old property which an elder couple were horders and they had lots of old items! We even let them live 30 days longer! Bless there 💜
Your videos make me realize how much time I spent doing the same thing you are doing now. Years lost being in this loop. Now I am a minimalist and can’t get rid of stuff fast enough. However I still love watching you do your “thang” just glad it’s not me. Keep being you!
Lucky you! Very nice finds. Can't wait to see what you do with the ones you don't sell right away. Blessings
I went to a hoarders estate sale, so much good stuff. Boxes and bags stacked everywhere. I wanted to stay longer but it was the end of the day. And I go to the Goodwill outlet weekly and that’s like a hoarders house!
I would put a couple of boxes of baking soda right in with the flag! I am a bank teller and sadly we get money sometimes that smells like pot and makes me gag! I literally cannot stand it because it stinks up my till and my drawers and makes me feel ill..... so I put baking soda in small Tupperware containers, punched holes in the top, put them in my drawers with dryer sheers and it was amazing! It made my friends at work laugh but it worked!!!!! No more smell ! As always I just love your videos. You and Chris are just the sweetest 💗. I love your sense of humor and I laugh along with you. God bless... lots of love .... Holly
I love going through stuff in piles. I have battled raccoons and snakes to get what I wanted. Some of my best picks came from junk.
For any of your viewers Yvonne, who struggle with hoarding (or know someone), a Hoarders Heart is a lovely, encouraging channel. Shes also a Christian, like you and Chris.
I have been to one hoarder house, we got to pick privately so it was very cool. We actually got to go twice and I did get an amazing assortment of goodies and amazingly I only spent 25 dollars. It was filled with so many treasures I only wish I had had more room in my house
Great experience going along with you on this adventure. I have that exact little reindeer blow mold which I found on the annual 127
Yard sale. He is so cute! You got some wonderful things.
How sweet of the viewer to invite you. ❤
Wow, I didn't even know that picking a hoarder house was a thing. That was so kind of your viewer to invite you to go have a look-see at what was there. I'd wage a bet that the previous owner was an American vet, I don't know why but I just get the sense that such is the case. I personally can't help but look at these items and think, what's the story that goes with them. It's just the way my mind works. Nice finds. Hope you have a lovely week! xx
I will definitely take care of the Jake Daniel’s for you guys! 😂
Just let me know when I can drink it…
Lol😂
You saved so many cool things from the landfill!!! Thank you both so much! My fav is the Harley patches and the flags. Thank you for saving those flags. 😊
What a lovely thing to have her pick things for you. I love that so so much. 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Interesting items. We had a match dispenser like the one you showed hanging on the kitchen wall of the farmhouse where I grew up. Brought back memories.
Oh !!! I don’t blame you guys I wouldn’t bring anything in until it’s was Clorox and cleaned. Got some neat stuff. I would love to thrift with you guys, looks like you have so much fun. And Ms. Ginger chick please take care of yourself.
Thank you
I haven't done a hoarders pick, but I would love the opportunity. Got to love the hunt!
That would be a dream come true to pick through a hoarder house! That sled had to be my favorite find! I have been looking for one for 3 years, crazy! Thank you for sharing your amazing finds! Prayers to you and your family ❤
Thank you
I know what you mean about enjoying the pick. I did a clean out in a hoarder house. I had two booths at the time and filled them up twice . I found over 50 pieces of Fenton glass, a rare Martin mandolin, and loads of collectible pieces. But I got sick from rat and raccoon feces even though I was working with gloves and masks and had to stop. The rest was bulldozed with the house. There was so much trash in the house that I was walking on, I had to stay bent over to keep from hitting the ceiling.
Oh.. man.. the thrill of the find takes over doesn’t it. Sometimes we don’t realize how dangerous it can be. Glad you came out ahead, and we’re ok afterwards 💕
Yvonne, you can turn those flags over to our local VFW, they will take them for you ❤🇺🇲
Worked more than 1 auction in 15 years where we had a hoarding situation to deal with!
We had a matchbox like that!!! Very Vintage
They left a lot of old items for us! It was a blessing
Old shovels ,rakes mason jars old picture frame etc.
😮😮😮 I’d be so scared to go into that…wow, just wow.
You could make a mold from those little animals and make more animals. This would be especially useful in your vignettes.
O…MY…GOSH…what a travesty! I have not ever seen hoarder homes so this was an eye opener for me. I’m NOT a minimalist but I think that’s not even a maximalists home. Yvonne…Turk Lake is on M91 just north of Greenville. There’s a beer garden/restaurant right on the lake that we stop to meet our son for a quick meal on occasion when Jack has Dr appts. So that sign could very well be a real find for you. We too are not drinkers but those bottles are nice and I’m thinking someone collects Jack Daniel’s so you got yourself some real finds. I just could not watch your previous vlog because I knew for some time your hair was taking a beating with your health issues. Breaks my heart and I remember Jack losing ALOT of his hair during his worst time with his autoimmune disease but thankfully his hair did regrow as thick as before all the sickness. Sometimes your journey stories trigger me and my heart just can’t handle it. Don’t be upset, I still hit the like button and let the visit run without me in the same room. Praying for you daily and for Chris as I know he too has a lot to handle with your health. I am glad for all the visits and enjoy seeing things that are part of the history of someone’s life. Thanks for enlightening and entertaining us for I learn quite a bit from your hauls!!!:):):)
Thank you for sharing this. As you know many tears of the years have been shed with the clients I had going through similar situations. So I wasn’t surprised. But bless to know how to hopefully regrow it( hopefully) bless you for just being there 💕
We toured the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg Tn. It was so hot and the smell oh the mash mad me 🤢 sick lol. But some of those bottles are expensive.
Amazing for you. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your haul.
Wow. What a day! Great cool stuff. Sharon in Texas
My MIL was a hoarder. She wasn’t quite as bad as your pictures but she was also on her third house. I was in shock when I first saw it! The paths……yes! I can even smell the pictures!! The last time we cleaned a couple of rooms we literally used a shovel to clear out piles that had sit in place long enough that they had disintegrated! She’s been gone since 2011 and the house, which is a beautiful home, just sits with all of its stuff……a daughter owns it now.
You and Chris are quite brave.
How cool! An awesome experience and you got some very cool treasures!! x
Oh such awesome and beautiful treasures!💯
Wow, y'all got some great items. I have never done a hoarders pick, but would love to.
I would love to pick a hoarders house.. I watch the show to look at treasures they throw out. Thanks for getting the flags. I would have done the same thing. Great video. TFS
Haven't picked at an abandoned house but sure would luv to. Very generous of the viewer to invite you! My favs are the sled & grn metal ceiling light. I too luv terra cotta pots; my collection is prbly 2% the sz of yours. Lol. My favs are the vintage ones from England - I use them in my indoor Spring decor, never to plant. Got them yrs ago at the Country Living Magazine show held at the OH Village in Columbus. Hope you're feeling better Yvonne. Blessings from Chris in Springfield. 🙏💙
Country Living Show? Now that sounds interesting 💕
@@GingerChickRehabTheJourney That was in the early 2000s. I no longer subscribe to their magazine (or any others - Save a Tree!) so Idk if they still have it. It was a fabulous show and fun to meet so many of the artists/designers & their wares that were featured in the mag.
Well, first off, thank you for saving the flags and being understanding of people who are hoarders. I love the wide rim on those clay pots, and the oval ones are special. You and Chris were able to pick some wonderful things!
I try not to pick much because I could become a hoarder myself! LOL,
Oh my goodness! Thank y’all for saving those sweet things from the dump! Loved the match box tin!❤ And I loved the terra cotta pots! Blessings to the lady for blessing you!😊
The cabinet doors were my fav!❤❤
I bet after that you came home and showered washed your hair thank you for sharing you found some super cool stuff if I were you I would keep those little white cats and bird they would be beautiful in your cabinet with you ironstone.
Patches are for the cut we wear. You normally earn them and to memorial fallen and going on rides. Mine is almost completely full. Mostly of friends who have passed away
And for the numerous charities that we are involved in like one of the biggest rides all year is Make A Wish.
I love the lighters.
What a nice video... Hoarders have great items and kept things most of the time.❤
Wow, I sure give you props for this!!! I've done this twice and it broke my heart each time😢
Yvonne, you and Chris do so well because you are fearless archaeologists! Your "dig" really unearthed some great treasures. My faves are the glass doors and the brass unicorn.
The match holder hangs on the fireplace. I have an antique (1906) fireplace surround and found a cast iron match holder to go on it.
Oh cool , thank you
A super interesting video. I love what you got. Your friend must know you really well in that she picked great stuff for you.
🥰
That was very thoughtful of her and generous.
Yvonne so glad you were asked. Thank you for sharing.
You say skate board. It was probably a home made scooter base.
Ha ! You said that very well. I’m sure between the heat and smell it was a bit hard.
Yes.. it was a bit. More for Chris than me. I lost most of my smell when I had Covid 🫤
Love the liquor bottles
No but I would really love to be a picker. However I think I need to have a picker come to my house! I have 40 years of treasures without the trash. lol I always have in mind, oh I can craft that, but who has the time.
Prayers for your healing
Being a Legionaire for 28 years, the term is Retire the flag. The plastic/nylon flags are cut up and disposed of because they melt. In so doing the burn barrel would be solid gunk at the bottom. Remove the field of blue then it is no longer a flag. Then it is cut up and thrown away. Just a f y I. Polyester/Pladtic ones only.
Some lovely things you and Chris found. I agree in saving the flags. Thanks for sharing nice items . Xx
Great items!!! No I haven’t done one but seems fun!! I did years ago dig through a dirt garage with smalls in the dirt!! Great fun!!
Hey Yvonne, if youre short of concertina hanging racks, you could cut the wine rack down the middle and make 2.
👍
I absolutely love the match box! And the Reindeer!
Mug could be Campbell pottery maybe
Thank you so much for rescuing our beautiful flag.
Your my kind of people
In the past, my husband and I worked for a short time doing "trash outs" for banks that were going to sell the homes they had repossessed. It was hot, dirty, hard work. It was sad to see what gets left behind. We also helped out when a veteran whom we would help with tasks he couldn't do by himself passed away. His only brother lived across the country and had to handle the estate alone. We worked with him for a week, sorting out that hoarder situation. He took what he wanted, allowed us to take what we wanted, and the rest went to various organizations or to the trash. We sell on eBay, and many items were new and never opened. Some were duplicates, others still in the store's bag buried under piles of things. It was hard work, but his brother was grateful, and as resellers, so were we for the small treasures.
Check the flag in the case and see if there is shell casings tucked in the folds. It looks like it could be a coffin flag. When my brother was KIA they put his flag in a case like that and put the casing from his 21 gun salute in the flag.
We will have to check that out. Thank you for that information.
Dont think I've ever seen oval terra cotta pots, I love them too!
I would love to pick in a Hoarder's house.
I would love to see videos about the process with the details of the shopping trip, cleaning pieces (tools, furniture, etc), inventory process, pricing (including how you decide to price items), deciding whether to place in shop or list on eBay (reasoning/rationale), and just the entire behind the scenes process of reselling. Maybe do it on The Journey CZcams? I would love it!! Thanks
When you showed the Ukele case the first thing I thought of was Tiny Tim! I remember when he appeared on the Johnny Carson show.
WOW! Great treasures!
Nice haul! I was born in 1962 lol so that little tag is 63 years old! I mean young!
❤️
Oh, my! What a situation…😧
Good things you have there, can't wait to see what you do with them. I had to get a new debit card so I'll join again. You look great today! Thanks for takin us along. God Bless. Hugs and prayers. For both, Rebekah
Must be the time for hackers.. I too had to deal with that . No fun🫤
If you decide to empty the bottles of alcohol, there are people who want empty bottles to paint or decorate, many examples on Pinterest. You can cut the bottom glass off and make a beautiful cloche. Just an idea.
Alot of great things you are saving!❤
Yall are brave!! Lol
Nice picks.
The donkey is a bottle opener. I have my Dad's and it's iron and colored.
Oh.. that’s even cooler
You got some amazing goodies really love the terra-cotta just as much as you ifI had the room like you do to display it all but I’m working on that slowly. Thanks again for such a great video. Say hello to Chris. God bless you both.🙏💕💕👋🇨🇦
Oh thank you!
