    I have a old rental house built in 1928. I am worried that the Receptacle circuits might be pushing their 30 amp limits is there a way I can check the amps on the circuit without just blowing out fuses. I do not have access to the wires of the fuse box. I am thinking I can replace a fuse with one of those screw in light socket plug adapter and maybe have to plug in line splitter plus a load like a test light bulb or my receptacle tester then I can check the total amps being used in the house circuit. Please give me a sanity check before I blow something up. Do video if it’s a good idea. 9:03

    Thanks for the review, Bill. I just purchased one yesterday. I lost my main meter so I picked up this one. Hoping my other one turns up. I have a couple of Fluke meters and both are on the fritz. The clamp meter, I'm not going to have repaired but the multi meter, fluke 77 series 2 has a display problem. What's your opinion as far as sending one in for repair that has some age to it?

    Hello, I noticed that you use different Klein Tools clamp meters in different videos; which would be more than sufficient for typical house wiring/voltage?

  • @RobinDobbie
    @RobinDobbie Před 4 lety +4

    At the beginning of the video it sounds like you're equating the max-hold setting of the meter with inrush current measurement. I believe they are very different. Klein offers inrush measurement on the CL450 and the CL900, but not on this CL380. I'm not sure how quickly this meter samples measurements. I'm not sure how easy it is, or if it's even possible to get an accurate inrush measurement with this meter. Since there's some obvious editing at the beginning, I wonder how many tries it took to get that number? It would be interesting to compare side-by-side with one of their meters that specifically offers inrush measurements.

      The dc clamp is shit. The dc amp setting deviates hard back and forth. I just got one and I’m in the process of returning it. I need it for low voltage electronics. And the dc amps even though it has a micro reading. It’s only to 200 micro amps. After that it’s a deadzone no read all the way up to 300 milliamps. As it won’t read anything over 200 in the micro setting. And won’t register anything until .3amps (300milliamps) it appears to have the entire range on the box. But this is untrue. This meter is another feature lacking wash from Klein. Fluke or bust.

    The fact that this tests diodes and capacitors and other things used in low voltage electronics is disgustingly offensive. Especially since this amp has a deadzone when reading dc amps from 200micro to 300 milliamperes. That’s a hefty zone. This meter is a trash. Klein has fallen off the wagon and is on the greedy warpath.
