  • How does an industrial iron work, and what makes it different from a domestic iron? In this video, I'll demonstrate how to use a Höt-Steam SGB-900 gravity-feed industrial iron and illustrate the differences compared to the iron you may use in a home workspace.

    Fascinating!
I can’t help but imagine the last two workers racing each other to avoid having to be the person to shut down all the irons. 😂

Not gonna lie, it happens! It’s also rough when you’re the first one in and forget to turn one on, which you inevitably discover when you go to use the one you forgot! 😀

Can I plug this iron into a power surge protector? I don't have access to plug it directly into the wall.

Ours are all plugged into surge protectors.

Hi! Is the blue light you have an after market product? I just bought a gravity fed iron but am mindful about forgetting to turn it off. I searched Google but had little luck finding it!

Our safety inspectors recommended something like it and we had an electrician install them. The iron and the blue light both plug into a power strip.

Now that I think about it, the bulb was initially red but we changed it out because it felt like a hazard light and was meant to just be an indicator. It’s just a standard light fixture repurposed for this function.

Do these iron better than a good quality domestic iron? Or is the point just that you don’t have to stop to fill it very often?

They’re heavier than a domestic iron and designed to stay on for 8+ hours at a time. They also allow you to control when the steam comes out with a thumb button. Depending on how you use your iron, those could be advantages or drawbacks.
      Thank you for asking this!
