The king of stupidly massive scenery is BACK ladies and gentlemen and today we officially kick off an absolutely massive build of the most famous location in all of Warhammer, the Imperial Palace on Terra from the grimdark universe of Warhammer 30000. This build is going to be an absolute monster, and I have actually already been working on it in disguise for well over a year. In today’s video we’re going to explore how on earth I’m going to tackle such a massive behemoth of a build, look at some of the techniques we have at our disposal and give you guys an update on all the progress so far, as well as the plan moving forwards. So without further ado let’s begin the biggest build in the history of Zorpazorp. Well for now at least.

My vote would be stick with one of the projects and try to bring it to some sort of completion, if you could leave both setup and go back and forth that would be fine but I would imagine taking these apart to store and setup the other back and forth takes a long time to do and also might damage either one since the parts are so large.

I say if you can't keep the imperial palace out when you go to work on another project then don't work on that other project to save time and effort on putting up and setting out each big project. Finish building the imperial palace then have your buddies come over and help paint the thing. While working on the palace if you get burnt out or need a sort of palette cleansing work on a small or tall project you DONT have to put the palace away for. You really need to finish one of the big projects at this point and since the palace is out already you should finish that then move on to another. Most of your videos say the BIGGEST wargaming board but it isn't really a wargaming board until war is made upon it in its finished state.

Is there a way to send a survey to your patrons to pick what name goes on the banners? My Patreon just says "Kyle". That doesn't feel epic enough to be on a work of the great Zorpitect.

Nah that sort of talk won't really help. Your a dedicated core so you'll watch say every video but someone who isn't that is who needs to be attracted to keep the channel healthy
Yeah, it's insane that the algorithm is so bad. I was following for a while for his MESBG content and it never once recommended his 40k or HH content even though I was following other channels with that stuff. *Obviously* I'd want to see it, but the algorithm hid it from me.
How cant these videos have a million views each is beyond me. I watch all of your stuff through and through. You are the best!

It's because it's niche a finished project might get a million but a bunch of construction content won't without there being something new and bombastic everytime.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing troubles Zorpazorp. CZcams really seems to punish anyone who goes out from whatever it has defined their lane as.
The palace is looking great, I'm most impressed by how you keep finding architectural inspiration. It's not like you're making replicas from the films here, you're having to plan out this very complex, very vertical structure as you go. It's incredible that it looks so good and cohesive, and you haven't had to rip any of it out!

CZcams is so savage and random, i do usually prefer mesbg haha, but I'm getting some good inspiration from those double overhangs. Might use that for some Moria (inner?) gates as I'm working on a board for that

have you considered putting stencilled numbers in areas where pieces join, to denote different configurations of the board? And if the numbers are exposed, they can be used to name parts of the board, like 'Sector 87' or 'highway 204'.

@@Zorpazorp yes! up until about a year ago I could get it up to 5 cm thick... but now it seems only 1 cm thick, unless you buy it in bulk!

NOT sick of palace. In fairness, I didn't watch Minas Tirath, just not that interested in it as much as the 40K, my bad. I usually watch everything that comes across my feed but there was probably a load of vids that day and MT is less interesting to me than Palace.

having flying buttresses on the sides of the towers on top of the flying buttresses is the most Imperium of Mankind thing I can imagine. Heck, those doors on those spires leading directly to a hundred-odd meter drop immediately reminded me of the architectural insanity going on in the background of so much of the old artwork.

epic builds need verticality. Not only does being shorter than something trigger the sense of scale part of the brain, it also provides tons of play area up the sides of the structure.

You've nailed the design of the bsation, arches and buttresses, i love them! Its very easy to imagine a zone commmander looking out over that massive tower
This board just goes above and beyond. Literally!! I absolutely love how those huge blocks of foam come together each time you start adding arches and lovely little plastic details. Great work!

Maaaaate I know how much of a stretch this one was. The finished product looks incredible. I love all the little details you added to give more depth. Even though I had seen a lot of wip shots there were a lot of things I only really understood from watching. I thought the balance between techniques, story telling and some really nice editing was spot on for this video. Hang in there bud, you’re doing some great work

Good lord, this portion of the build is just so excellent. Every time I finish one of your videos I feel excited to work on terrain. Then I get home from work and see my in progress miniatures and get sucked back in to those lol.

Dude, you inspire me so fucking much. I’m not in a financial situation to support you, or do something even a fraction as incredible as this, but man do you make me want to. Your passion and dedication for the crafting hobby absolutely radiate with love and give me the urge to be more creative and ambitious in my own hobby journey. Fuckin love ya mate.
Here’s a handy tip. Meat tenderisers make awesome texture tools when working with foam. So do potato mashers and cheese graters. If you get the cheese graters that have a different size and pattern on each side you’ll get a lot of different textures. The other thing that works great with foam are those kitchen mandolins. The ones with different attachments that help you slice and dice vegetables really quickly. The dicing attachment is great for making bricks and tiles (depending on the thickness). The chip cutters are great for small beams. And you can keep going with all the different attachments.
I hit the Like Button with enthusiasm on all recent videos, the algorithm didn't take that into account? I'll watch foam being cut regardless of the genre and setting, the before and after transformation of building materials into epic boards is unbelievable

I love seeing this build get bigger and bigger! Definitely needs some big Aquilas on various points of the build. It will be fun to see you paint more of the imperial walls. It does feel as if it needs more vibrancy than just the grayish tones you have been using.
Finally YES! Just woke up, first thing, watching this viedo. It looks awesome mate, cant wait for the finish. What I personally miss tho is a bit of statues on the bridges. Lile the ones from the artwork most popular of the imperial palace of GW

It IS very satisfying to magnetize your minis. It helps future proof them too! You have no idea how many times my HQ units needed different weapons after a rules change. Haha.
