How To Make Your Own EPIC Budget $20 2.1 Speaker System (VLOG)

- When I found a sub and 2.1 amplifier down at my used trade store (model number CAV SW260), I was intrigued, could I do a budget sound 2.1 sound system with this, and furthermore - would it sound any good?
Well after bringing it home and unpacking it and then hooking in the initial Onkyo speakers, I realised they were 4 ohms and since this unit has a 6 ohm output it wasn't going to make for a good relationship, low and behold though the $3 Sony speakers that I picked up were 8 ohms and these would fit nicely into the setup, and when I hooked it all up... MY GOD, 2.1 sounds so much nicer than a 2.0 setup in my opinion (I just need that floor shaking bass), and if you can find bargains on ebay or craigslist or other trading posts (gumtree comes to mind) then you can certainly put together something that will trump 2.1 systems that run into the hundreds of dollars... Suffice to say this sounds better than my Z4 system which I have upstairs, and it all up only tallied $20 (so this is definitely the best 2.1 system for under $100 lol)!
If you have any questions let me know in the comments below! However this is certainly my most favourite budget how to to date!

I like budget end stuff, keep it up :)
This is sooo awesome!
Damn, Bryan... Very nice sound system you made there!
Its easy to sound good when you’re playing a track with tight, consistent bass bumps, no mids, piercing highs. The song was designed to sound good on anything.
Put in a vocal track, or ensemble instrumental where your speakers will have to work on their sides of the crossover, maintaining levels as the bass guitar goes up the scale.
Great vid!
how were you able to connect the sattleite speakers to the base ? was it thru rca or something ?
You should have shown a clip of the shopping experience, rummaging through old electronic is always fun.
I also enjoy watching your videos it's awesome make more budget videos
Cool Bryan!
Do u know how to change Bluetooth subwoofer to wire subwoofer ?? Because I have speaker run wireless but with out the sound bar it's nothing and the sound bar been stolen from me so I'm trying to change my subwoofer from wireless to wire .
I have an old shitty logitech z3 pc satelite system that i plan to replace in a near future for a 2.1 bookshelf system but i'm a noob in audio and i'm still trying to figure out how i'm going to do it, i believe i will need a external amplifier with 2 channels + 1 for subwoofer?
from where can i get this subwoofer ?
Just saw your comment on the Logan's video, came here to check it out, good content, subscribed! :D
+TekTick Thanks man, your channel is pretty good too, never knew about you either!
i got a Insignia NS-PCS41 2.1 for about 40 bucks for a few years ago and its amazzzinnggg
How to set up speaker system to audio interface to pc?
I m using creative inspire t3300 2.1 25Watts speakers with my laptop
What can you suggest I could use to get more bass ? an amp or something
because I can t turn the bass all the way up without the subwoofer giving a popping sound
Kanchana Herath go the DIY route
Order one of those cheap Lepi 2020 amplifiers and use the onkyo speakers for another room.
Dunno i can only get sound out of one of them, i just got a Serioux HT2100C and it's an amplifier with 2 speakers that connect separately, and only the left output slot works O_O Or the right, but i can't get both to work at the same time :(
So if you don't mind what did the sub amp speaker retail for when new? Or what is it selling for on ebay? Curious as to how good of a deal you got.Yea " Welcome to Club Tech Yes City" We work off tips and tips alone
which one is rated 6 ohms? the sub or the amp?
Nabbed a pair of Mordaunt Shorts from Gumtree for AU$50 that sound perfect.
They work well with both my old sony mini hifi in 2.0 or cludged to connect to my Logishit Z506 for 2.1.
+OptimusPro Nice steal on the speakers, the logi would not have anywhere near the juice required for those. Something like this wouldn't be bad for the received and sub - www.ebay.com.au/itm/SANSUI-SAN-0669-5-1-2-1-105W-HOME-THEATRE-SYSTEM-WITH-REMOTE-/161836347926?hash=item25ae32b216:g:qHAAAOSwQTVWA6U7
If display has speakers can config like 5.1, 2 lines go to pc
Know where i can buy it?
+Tech YES City awesome video keep it up, dont drop your PlayStation headset they break to easy
But Bryan, you're using that $400 dac/amp. Doesn't it make sound tad bit better? $420 blaze it setup..
+tulp35000 Nah doesn't have a sub, maybe If I go buy a sub and leech it off the 2.0 out, but man you should hear this thing for $20.... completely blown away.... lol...
Tech YES City
Sounded great through mine. edifier studio 8 from asia.
+tulp35000 lol this $20 system already holds a place in my heart now.
+tulp35000 he lives in Japan, dude
Rahmat Stiady
i thought he's in aus atm.
Can you recommend a mini 2.1 amp that will power.
Wharfedale Diamond 10.1
Wharfedale Powercube SPC10
+LoneEdge - Graphics SMSL SA-50, or SMSL SA-160 for more power as well as headphone amp. Run the speaker wire to the sub, and then from the sub to the speakers.
How would I connect sub using this?
+LoneEdge - Graphics That sub will need some serious juice to power it. What ohm load is the sub rated at? You can wire in parallel or serial depending on the gear. If you are in aus grab something like this (people don't know bargains when they see them), grab a stepdown converter and gg you will have some seriously good sound. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Philips-DAP-6040-Car-Power-Amplifier-4-channel-/221915961082?hash=item33ab38d6fa:g:ziIAAOSwMmBV3IiV
Pretty sure the sub that was posted is a powered sub.
Yeah you're right, sorry missed that, just grab the 2.0 DCs recommended.
+Tech YES city where can I buy the cav sw260 I live in canada
I've only seen them from Japan and cost about 230USD (eek!).
+Kari Sinkko so what are these called I have good speaker but I don't had anything to play them trough so I need to buy one of these I for. Care if it isn't a cavs20 I just need one similar
really it's a mini home amp, people really don't let them go becuase they last so long. Onkyo or other name branded theatre amps will work ok and if you see an amp that's made after 1975 you usually can get a great amp. Hope that helps.
what model are those Sony speakers? How does it compare to Logitech Z623?
+gohypo CW35 or something, They probably sound a bit warmer than the z623s speakers, but none the less I love them.
Z263 will be better quality
No it won't
Anything makes a sound for $20 is worth it.
Bought a kid for 20 dollars. Guess it was a Steel.
Mouse pad looks tatty meh cut it off.. haha classic Bryan right there.
+Totally Silenced Update your banner already lol.
+Tech YES City Update your profile pic already lol.
Tech YES City Done!
how are your neibors doing :D ? there are some cheap 2.1 systems that sounds good like intex/micro voice. but i think the one you built must sound farly better. nice vid
+Aladin El Aissaoui The house I live in at the moment has some really thick walls, so the neighbors don't hear much (have tested it before lol). Though in apartments you would get so many complaints, I remember my old neighbors down stairs use to complain about us walking..... its like ummm seriously? FOOT STEPS?
How are the Sony speakers called? :)
+PaniCake Rezlab The model number? not sure CW35 I think (at work so cant check).
+Tech YES City It doesnt look like :c are those PC speakers?
I reinstalled win7 because of complications anyway can you give me the name of the website that gives 50% or 80% off the price of games. Thanks.
+Matlockization g2a.net?
+Tech YES City .com*
shhh you told him the secret formula!
+Tech YES City No, with that link I get Solaris, its when you were in japan. They have games or steam games and OS you can buy via PayPal at a heavily discounted price. It's like a global key where the sellers are from various countries. I wish I knew who they were. Its just to save me from going through all your video's, that's all. BTW Nice try Klaaz but no cigar.
+Matlockization Brian, I just found it thanks !
wat happened in the beginning
Lol I Run 6 ohm speakers on a receiver that says that it works more efficiently with 8 ohms LOL!
I thought you said the X7 had a sub output. If that was the case then you could have ran the Onkyo's and ran the sub off the output if the X7. Also you would have had a volume knob.
+Eric Marcus The x7 can wire a sub in off the 2 speaker outs, thought I would have to figure out the ohm impedance of leeching it off both channels, *doing maths in head* - two 6 ohms on 4ohm output with a sub slicing off both hmmmm, I would have to probably go with 8 ohm speakers and an 8ohm sub to be safe. I have the controller that has volume control, very handy system, really proud of it for some reason lol....
isn't the sub output a volume controlled line out signal? I'm not trolling here I really just curious.
Yeah it has a sub line out, but I was referring to actually powering a sub off it lol.
Got ya
Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Is the Sub self powered?
noo dude you got it backwards, the lower the better, higher = distortion, gigantic oversized speakers at lower volume are AWAY better than smaller ones trying to compensate the volume the big ones do at 30%, like 144p to 4k kind of better
how da hek you find it all so chep
It was slightly clipping that mic.
haha im way ahead of you running 4.1 audio hehe just need a amp so i can remove my sub from speaker port and add another speaker haha dont need more though my setup is amazing
+Akeel Shah You have to hear this 2.1 to believe it!
you have to hear my audio to believe mine XD i'm a picky one, previously i had a car subwoofer and car speakers which i used until i found enough decent speakers to make a new setup , i got a 5.1 reciever 4 speakers and a sub all for £35 crazy bargins here and there but ive not heard better sound to date. :)
4ohms should be fine. just turn the gain down a bit.
+SuBLiMeXGoLd I remember I did something similar way back in my teens with car audio and ended up bricking an alpine amp :(, the sony's sound really good at the moment, maybe I should try the Onkyo's?
in australia the speakers would cost OVER $9000 since tony abbot was in :'(
+PivBlast lol gumtree has some good bargains.
ty but im just joking around in the comment section :P
This is unreal ahahhahah wow
speakers and amps can be bought dirt cheap from hardoff and other used item shops in japan. the problem is when your neighbors hate sound with even the lowest volume, they call the police. when i was there i can only blast sound on the warehouse where i used to work since neighbors are slightly far away. but from where i live now its not a problem anymore. currently using a cheapo creative a120 2.1 pc speaker for general listening but highs and lows are lacking. very cheap indeed at only 20$ too, gets the job done. when i want to party i have a pair of 15" folded base bins and 12" pro monitor and amps to power em... the 10$ pioneer speakers i got from hardoff needs repairing, the bass crackles....
But why would you go with speakers over headphones ?
+Adam cesrai I guess, if you never have friends over at your place
+Adam cesrai if he's editing then he might not want some big bulky headphones on ?
+Adam cesrai Have to balance audio out, having speakers is great for that, also afk and waiting for dota 2 game pop / talking on skype etc. hardcore shiz is usually headphones though.
Thanks for your response guys. I really appreciate it.
+Adam cesrai I used headphones for years and years, replaced it with a high and amplifier and decent passive speakers and haven't used headphones since. Feels good to not have something constantly sitting on your ears & blasting directly into your eardrums.
omg copying tek syndicate, jk, great video bryan!
+Techno Niko lol I wondered who uploaded first, both say 18 hours atm :P
Tech YES City my sub box says tek, but who knows with how buggy youtube is
ah shit well I guess I copied him then lol
Tech YES City lol :D I choose headphones for PC, but I'm looking for speakers in my car, this video helped me a bit, thanks
no worries, yeah all my knowledge with audio comes from the days where I used to spend so much time installing car audio, they go hand in hand minus the 12v on car amps and usually the different ohm ratings on the speakers vs home stuff.
i swear i heard it start to crackle as volume was getting louder. im not a fan of sony speakers or headphones.
you spent a pretty penny on that PC case, why not just put that into the audio setup and get a cheaper case?
you mean that old Asus P5Q motherboard? yeah im sure you can get it working just disable that Marvel sata controller
+HUGSaLOT Valkyrie I think it is an IDE controller? I will check tomrorow when I get an IDE drive and clean it all down.
+Tech YES City no it has a secondary SATA controller for cloning harddrive (2 of the 6 sata ports) that is basically useless to the OS. You just need to turn it off in bios, but it does have a PATA connector but that is on the same controller the other 4 SATA ports are on.
yeah the problem i had was getting to the bios, would get stuck on that initialzing stage every time...
+Tech YES City Yeah, normally it would just go past that if it found no drives hooked up to it. And i do remember your video you didn't have any drives hooked to those SATA ports (which is good) since you want to use the native chipset SATA controller which controls 4 other SATA ports and the PATA ports.
Also make sure Express Gate is turned off. this was a quick boot into a stripped down linux OS that ASUS made letting you get online and do basic things and download stuff onto USB sticks if you needed a quick driver, as well as other basic web stuff. I think ASUS abandoned that since they hadn't been using it in any newer motherboard since then, and I only used it a handful of times. It was useful during OS install and you needed a quick dirver DL when you had no OS installed. Trick is you needed windows already installed to install express gate., Go fig.
brian, time to grab artisan mouse pad & do a review.
+Ng Khan Mein I have one lying around here, I will have to check out the type it was, preferred my goliathus to it (prefer the goliathus to everything for some odd reason). What is the best artisan type you have tried?
+Ng Khan Mein Do they have the divot style?
Tech YES City Frankly speaking, i haven't try any artisan before & recently i just bought QcK+ & today my Mionix Castor just arrived. The scroll wheel is disappointing, especially when i scrolled downward but upward is acceptable. basically, artisan is from japan so i think is more easier for u to review. brian, time to change it. i personally prefer hayate otsu but unfortunately they don't have XXL size & also quite exp so i ended up with QcK+. by the way, i don't think they have divot style. maybe u can try ask them send u some mouse mats for review.
www.artisan-jp.com/mousepad_all_eng.html
Yeah no worries I will send them an e-mail see if they are interested, but my goliathus is 5 years old now and is becoming sentimental LOL
keep the old, you get nothing new! time to let go & move on new life. if u get what i mean. u can't make progress by clinging to old notions.
hi frank lampard
+Azarul Ziqri hi!
0 dislikes nise...
If you want I can tell you how to get 90% return.
Ok not hating but nobody else can get that amp for that price so it's not that price for anyone but u
Hard off ? :)
+BirdFluJapan Kanteidan
i think your monitor is sagging a little.
+Adam Lamb yeah gotta tighten it up to the stand lol.
U didn’t ‘make’ anything here.
