Brother, I had just sent my husband to the store asking him for a few things to include deli meat. I immediately texted him back and said don’t worry about the deli meat. There might be a recall. I know you like to do your research, but I appreciate the warning and we’ll just play it safe by not consuming it for a while. Thank you, sir!
We have never had the issues with food, including multiple processing plants burning down, before the last 4 years. There is either a massive clean up of our food and how it’s brought to market. Or it is a deliberate destruction of the food chain. I’m inclined to believe the latter.
I work in the rental car industry, today all meetings were cancelled and all agents were placed on the phones including managers. Most airports and surrounding areas are sold out and have been since Friday. We are doing our best to help people, but some still want to call in and scream and yell because we have no vehicles and cannot get any more in right now. We are getting back to back calls were customers are still stranded at airports and have been since Friday as most flights are still delayed or cancelled.
Wow! That wasn't covered in the news. Or I didn't hear it. I did hear that motels around airports were full after Friday's shindig, and people who were stuck with no place to stay.
A lot of these recalls seem like just really bad food safety training. You have to understand about temperature control, cross contamination etc.... There is zero excuse for contaminated food being let out of the plant. QC should catch that before shipping.
Thank you for sharing that with us. You see the recommendation to not eat deli meat on forms when you go to the OB office, but you never hear any real stories about it affecting people. God bless you and the soul of your little baby.
@@hiddenhand6973 My OB and the new reporting about this situation both recommended that the meat needs to be heated. So when I get my sub I always have it toasted.

Thanks Danno once again for keeping us informed. Your service is invaluable. There is no mention of recalls on local media stations until it becomes catastrophic.
Let me help, we eat lots of meat on keto with different ways of cooking it. If you want to heat up your deli meat, use either a rice cooker with steam basket or steam pot on the stove. Always use a thermometer to check your cooked meat. Place a piece of parchment paper down, layer your deli meat with cheese if preferred on it, twist the ends up and place in your hot, already boiling steamer basket, place lid on top and steam approximately 4-5 minutes, check temp and then use it as a hot sandwich or sub, meat will still be tender.
The recall news may not be the most fun, but it's really important when it involves listeria, salmonella and the like. If you have compromised immune systems, that kind of thing can be life or death. So you are doing good work with this reporting, and I thank you.
Thank you Danno. I hadn't heard about any of these recalls or health notices. The deli meat causing this seems to be a large brand or maybe sold in a national chain store. My family very much appreciates you!
I owned a store with a busy deli back in the late 1980's and 1990's. Never a recall on deli products we carried. There are lots of brands I would not buy then or now. Quality and food handling does matter. I am not sure what is going on these days.
My son was feeling bad after eating Butterball turkey breast at Wal-Mart. They have their meat stored in bags instead of rewrapping it goes back in the bag it's been in all a long. The deli meat thing is apparently an ongoing issue due to the difficulty of adequately cleaning slicers and other equipment. Looking further into how dangerous it is to get meat sliced at a deli (we honestly had no idea), we’re going to avoid it from now on.

As long s as all they rewarded with a fine or tax breaks or gutted fda/regulations… they’re not going to care enough to change. FDA isn’t perfect, but imagine how bad recalls of product could get without them?
Regarding the listeria recall in Canada where two people have died so far, I purchased two cartons for a lower price, one soy and one almond. I only use it for my coffee and used the soy one first. It was the almond that was recalled. I used at least 95 percent finished that carton by the time that the recall for listeria was announced. Fortunately I did not get sick, but had I, it would have been much too late. It was weeks after consuming the product that the recall was announced. Narrowing down the culprit takes time. Once they have meats they all ate, then they start testing those from the plants they came from. Then they test on their own. Then they have to narrow down the dates, time etc. It's best to avoid processed food to begin with. If you're in the deli and getting meat sliced, look for the person doing it. Did they take off their gloves!? Did they wash their hands!? Did they put on a new set of gloves!? Slicers usually have a scheduled cleaning. They should have a meat slicer and a cheese slicer. If they don't, you're buying cross contaminated to start with. Even though they are both ready to eat, they shouldn't be sliced on the same slicer without being cleaned between.
