I would agree with your comment on everything but the tense … it should be in the last tense … it should read “was” rather than “is”. He was that player last in 2020.
Russ last year on a crappy broncos team that gave up 70 had 26 Tds 8 int 3000 yards 4 game winning drives. Which was tied for NFL best. Russ last year had more Tds than Steelers QBs the last.2 years. Russ will be great in Pittsburgh
@@DD-sr9xm I think it’s strange that people haven’t put 2 and 2 together on Russell Wilson’s stats last year in 2023 and 2013 when he won the Super Bowl and everyone praised his numbers. Russell Wilson had 26 TDs and 9 INTs in 2013 and he had 26 TDs and 8 interceptions in 2023. He had 300 less passing yards last year than his Super Bowl year because he played 1 less game. Russell Wilson only had 1 bad season and that was his first year in Denver with a terrible coach. Wilson would’ve done better under Sean Payton if not he coach would’ve used Wilson’s talents instead of trying to force him to be a QB that he’s not.
He had to deal with a defense that stressed the offense the first 5-6 games last season. Imagine your D allowing 70 pts. And costing the team at least 4 easy wins in the beginning of the season. What is Dan talking about. At this point they're just overthinking ways Russell can mess it up as a Steeler. When it's a lot more rational to consider the ways he will thrive in their offense.
Justin Fields is not better than Russ the haterade continues... get off your tip. Justin Fields like to Run let one of these defensive players hit him... it will be all bad don't believe ask Cam Newton
And even if Russ lost the opening day job, the Steelers would be stupid to release what would be the best backup QB in the league by far! Every team in the league would take Russ as a $1m backup. They’d take him as a $20M backup, and that includes the Broncos, who tried to hang onto Russ for another season at $39M but Russ refused to defer his injury guarantee. Having said all of that, Russ is going to be the guy, and he’ll be the guy all season and lead the Steelers on a few playoff runs, possibly a SB or two. He can do that with the right pieces around him, just like any other top QB. No QB can do it alone, and no QB could’ve helped Denver.
Russ will prove the haters to be wrong. He is 9 time probowler 100 career QB rating. 43k passing 5300 rushing 338 Tds 106 int. 39 game winning drives. Superbowl champion
One metric I'm curious about with Russell Wilson, is what was the average field length he had to travel while the Legion of Boom was in town over those years? Because everytime he comes into the conversation, it's always the OC playing tough physical defense run the ball etc.
I think Russ Wilson biggest problem is he didn’t fit what Sean Payton scheme calls for. In fact, Peyton sabotaged it. Because we now have Mike Tomlin, who hasn’t had a quarterback and I believe got Russell Wilson, because he probably didn’t appreciate the slick, sideways approach of Sean Payton, got Russell Wilson that he will likely not only beat down Denver when they meet, but Pittsburgh is likely going to go to the playoffs. In spite of what Colin cowherd is saying.
As a Steelers fan I don't want to see josh get better.but those changes should cut down on interceptions.steelers offense still in it's infancy need to pick up this system fast and open up play book

Just a word of caution to the great Steelers passionate fans, don’t get too invested in Russ. Amazing move by the front office to get Russ at $1mio, but he isn’t the old Russ, he hasn’t been since 2020. His stats last season reflected Payton’s offense more than Russ’s ability. Stidham played two games at the end of the season with identical game stats to Russ. Hope for the best, but don’t be surprised if it’s underwhelming and Fields gets his chance.
Interesting assessment; Sean Payton’s last season with Drew Brees at quarterback saw his offense ranked 12th/Yards and 5th/Points. His first season without Brees, 28th/ Yards, 19th/ Points, also his last with New Orleans… First season with Broncos; 26th in Yards and 19th in Points… Maybe, Payton is experiencing the same thing Belichick did when he no longer had Brady at quarterback. After all Brees did retire the third overall leader for quarterbacks… To be fair; it was the first season for both Payton and Wilson working together… Also, Russell Wilson averaged nearly TWO touchdowns a game 26 passing, 3 ground in FIFTEEN games. Stidham’s numbers are not reflective of Wilsons production, in FACT, it was literally half, ONE Touchdown per game. Had Wilson played he would have had 28-30 touchdowns. Another touchdown would’ve come in handy during the final game with RAIDERS, seeing the Broncos lost by a touchdown, and officially ended the season under .500… 🤔
He had 26 tds last season before he got benched,, he was 6th in yards in the league as well.. his performance wasnt what had him benched,, it was the beef he had with the coaching dtaff and the pissing match they had.. we had kenny picket who has a total of 13 tds in 2 years,, wilson had double that in half a season.
Russ numbers were in spite of Sean Payton’s system. Outside of low interceptions his game plan didn’t help anyone. Russ had 4 game winning drives because Sean refused to let him play until the 4th quarter with 3 minutes left
