This is an excellent video, but you should have mentioned at the end that as long as you are holding the down input, it won’t matter if you land on the ground and are still holding brake because holding down prevents you from losing your reserves that you’ve built-up.

You could also test it yourself. Drive off of any turbo pad holding down + brake. Then do the same thing but only holding brake.
If you only hold brake without down, you will stop almost immediately.

I prefer your video's because they are of clear clean viewing quality and are to the point and show me exactly how to perform the move. As a beginner you have definitely helped me to improve my game. Plus it just makes it more fun.
Btw you can just use the left analog stick without using the d pad at all. Just make sure you press break button and let go of the gas button

The thing I just figured about air turns, especially for hot air way, is to hold break for longer, throughout the entire turn, not just a second.

Well, I got used to the analog stick and just like you said it's hard to do it. I immediately try this trick after watching this video and this tutorial actually paid me off really well. It will take me some time to get used to d-pad but nonetheless, this is helpful. Thanks.

For Xbox w/alternate control users:
1. Go to Xbox settings on home screen
2. Find the option to map your controller buttons
3. Map the R1 button to dpad down (this swaps the functions of the two buttons) You can always go back and change this setting back to normal when you're done playing for the day, but it is indeed the most crucial step to the equation.
4. When wanting to Uturn, you must release the acceleration (R2) and quickly hit and hold down R1 (this would have been the down on dpad you would have had to hold down for Uturn which is almost impossible while using analog).
5. While holding R1, also hold brake (x). You must be holding R1 down before adding brakes or you will lose your fire.
6. Now that you are holding R1 and X, spam the L1 (jump) button while using left analog to guide your Uturn.
7. Once finished with the Uturn, release all buttons and resume R2 (acceleration), and drift as soon as possible to maintain fire.
I have done 101% completion of the game, and have gotten to only 9 more Velo times to beat, and just today learned this from watching The Viperian. I can't believe I didn't find this sooner but it has breathed new life into playing.

Hell yeah. The best tracks to master this imo are Papu Pyramid, hot air skyway and electron ave. If you can do this, you will leave everyone in the dust. I’m comfortable on papus and hot air, I’m so close on electron ave .

Best practice map would be definitely be Electron Avenue! If you can keep blue fire throughout the entire 3 laps, that's good practice :)
Don't bump into walls or fall off the map. The entire map will force you to use Air Braking & U Turning 80% of the time
Oh and to answer your first question, yes the turn stats does affect the airbraking/uturning radius, but quite minimal

Any tips on how to transition quickly from analog (while driving) to arrow keys while u-turning? I have been practicing U-turning the past few weeks, but I still have trouble transitioning to and from the arrow keys.
I already use air-brake, but I use analog for that. U-turn is much harder to use analog.
Transitioning is not recommended. It is best to fully use either analog, or arrow key. Arrow key is better

Cups are pretty much normal races, as long as you master the mechanics of the games (watch my Tips Series) then you will beat it, even on hard

use your thumb to press both of the arrow key at the same time. Your right thumb on the Square button, your right index finger on the R1 button for jump

Probably stupid question but i don't recognize some of those maps. I've played original and nitro kart. Haven't seen those maps in nitro fueled. Are they only online or?

Because of big airbrake jumps being easier and more common, I think I find myself holding down brake too much in my u-turns, making my Turbo Track u-turns not go well anymore. or something.
Make sure to let go of the brake button before landing, so u wont accidentally lose your fire and reserve. One big tip I can give you that can be game changing: Holding down the Down Key and Brake key and the same time will not make you lose fire 😄

need to position your thumb so the first joint is on the down arrow key, then the end of your thumb can be easily swivelled from left arrow/right arrow, using the down arrow as your swivel point. Dang young folk these days with their joysticks...:p
I tried doing just as you described in the video for a U-Turn, but it's always inconsistent; it either kinda works, but I lose my blue flame, or I end up facing the direction I want to go, without changing trajectory, causing me to careen straight into a wall.
I can kinda tell what you're doing wrong, try to make sure you are doing/not doing these:
1) Losing Blue Flame
Do you mean losing blue flame after you land? If so, remember to let go of the brake button. Braking while on the ground will make you lose blue fire almost immediately (Unless you are holding Square + Back arrow at the same time). If you are losing it in the AIR, it's 100% either you touched a wall, or you lost reserves.
2) Facing the direction i want to go
If this happens, it means you held the square button + left / right arrow key correctly, but you didn't hold down the DOWN ARROW KEY too. Remember, Airbraking requires 3 BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME, which is SQUARE, LEFT/RIGHT ARROW KEY and DOWN ARROW KEY.
3) Inconsistent.
This one is easy to fix, just make sure you are NOT HOLDING DOWN the acceleration key while in the air (X Key on PS4). Airbrake wont work unless you let go of X in the air.
Sorry for the long reply, but I figure this would help you out so I made it as detail as possible for you :)
@@TheViperian Thanks. Getting it with more consistency now. Now my only problem is muscle memory, with U-turning. I'm used to airbraking, though. I do it all the time online. I just never thought of down + left/right, only doing the direction instead. (Also I'm on Switch btw.)
@@fghdkjlfkghfc ahh, switch might be abit harder because your arrow keys are separated. But still doable! Yeap, u HAVE to hold the DOWN KEY. If not it wouldn't work, keep playing and muscle memory will take over

If you play on ps4, remap the down button with R2, so you can do the u turn without problems. Just practice and you will get used to it, maybe in 1 or 2 days

I do consider these exploits only because theres no tip in the loading screen or anywhere or tutorial in the game that explains to do this.
