R.I.P falcon true AUSTRALIAN icon. Wish I could live in a time when Australian roads were filled with Australian cars. Even though I'm a hardcore ford man I would rather drive a commodore than any sad excuse of a car imported from Asia.
long live the mighty falcon. sad to see them go....but im going to keep my 03 xr6t, and try to buy my mums 72 XY falcon (so many childhood memories with that BEAST). i will miss the falcon but it will always remain a part of my life regardless of if fraud take it away from us or not

G'day Rick , Kiwi Dodge...INCREDIBLY SAD...I've never been so proud to own a fantastic FG XR6 ..such a great car , leaves the opposition for dead to be honest ..no poxy "all the same" SUV for me..and an equally amazing AU ll ..So lucky to be a custodian of two great Falcons...REAL CARS...not computers on wheels like so many others..Time will remember the MIGHTY FOR FALCON well..Rest assured of that..My two look great parked next to each other , both are silver too..Love them...Love this fitting tribute too...Cheers Rod (again)..
Hey mate, good to hear and hold on to them if you can! They do feel engaging to drive, I still enjoy my G6 after a year. Even just cruising they impress, heaps of low down torque, low fuel use. Relaxing to drive and fun to drive at the same time.. not many sedans can get that right let alone at a decent price. Cheers
I have driven all Falcons since the first one in 1960 except or those made after '95; my last being an EF Fairmont loved that car, now living in France I drive a Jaguar and a Fiesta,hard to imagine they will be leaving the scene, but Ford cannot afford to make a car for such a small market; when the Mazda 3 is now Australia's biggest selling car, sad!

Yes es it is very sad what has become of Australia, we were once hugely self sufficient, now 90% of everything we buy is made in asia or china, we have been taken to were we are by bloody politicians, I to will miss the falcon.
Hopefully, Ford will have sense to at least build a new 4-door off of the new S550 platform. The Falcon is such a great range from turbo straight sixes to supercharged V8s. It comes in different body styles like utes and sedans. I think Ford would be foolish to just leave the rwd muscle sedan market. Currently, GM has the SS or Commodore and Dodge has the Charger. I wouldn't just let GM and Dodge just take the rwd muscle sedan market. They both are solid in the civilian and fleet market. Yeah, I understand that the car market is going global and most regional platforms are not justifiable anymore, but Ford needs to find a way to incorporate rwd sedans and utes into the global plans. I say possibly the S550 platform would make a great candidate for a global Falcon. Even in earlier articles the Ford Execs said their not just going to use the all new Mustang platform for just one model. I think the Falcon needs to be globalised in one form or another.
Now you Aussies will know what we Statesiders have to constantly deal with. Just like us, Alan Roger Mulally is gonna stick you with the tired, overweight, over-teched, sofly suspended, boring Taurus SHO. And with a garbage EcoBoost V6, no less. The reason is simple..Too many are as dumb as you , easily led into poxy cheap sweat laboured crap .. Holden and Toyota are also closing next year for same reasons..CHEAP IMPORTS ..DUMB NITWITS NO IDEA ABOUT REAL CARS...

I’m a bit late to the party but he’s not really wrong. Im a Ford man through and through, but there’s a reason the underpowered VF SS commodores could keep up with the more powerful Fgx Xr8’s around a track, they had better chassis and were just all round better when cornering. I mean they were basically a newer car since the FGX was a reskinned Fg which launched way back in 08’ so the VF would wanna outperform it somewhere which was cornering, Xr8 killed it in a straight line though.
