The crystal structure of a diamond is a face-centered cubic or FCC lattice. Each carbon atom joins four other carbon atoms in regular tetrahedrons.
The diamond unit cell consists of total eight atoms.
All the carbon atoms of Diamond have strong chemical bonds with that of the four other carbon atoms, thus making a perfect tetrahedron structure and on throughout the crystal.
