It’s a shame they couldn’t keep the BMX track intact. Between racing in the winter, the state, and regional races held there that facility brought in a lot of money from all over the east coast to the local economy.
I moved away in 1986, I don't believe that Grippen Park was even a thing when I was there. But I did learn to roller skate at the Skate Estate on Old Vestal Road. lmaoo
Thanks Frank. Learned to skate at Fairview, McArthur, South Side parks. Don't think I ever got over to Grippen, although I knew it existed. Whatever was in walking distance. They used to flood the tennis/basketball courts in all the parks so we could skate. Don't know if they still do that.
I miss playing roller hockey there!
I don't remember Grippen Park, but it would be great if they brought back the Roller rink and the Reel-to Reel disco!
