- Sky News host Rita Panahi says there needs to be a “reckoning” for the Victorian police as they try to rebuild their image following Melbourne's lockdowns and protests.
“Victoria Police is again trying to rebuild their image after enthusiastically serving as Dan Andrews covid enforcers for two years,” she said
“Where they terrorised pregnant women for Facebook posts, harassed little old ladies on park benches and shot scores of protesters with non-lethal rounds.”
Ms Panahi said, “Chief Shane Patton says he is bruised by the work his force had to do during COVID lockdowns”.
“PR campaigns and sob stories about feeling bruised from police command are no substitute for accountability,” Ms Panahi said
It is truly UNBELIEVABLE just how INSANE people with a little authority can be when taken off the leash. Everyone of them should be given a prison cell, right next to the prison cell housing the worthless governmental idiots who ordered such behavior.

Was there any investigation into those officers seen kicking and punching people on the ground in these clips? I was a cop for several years including through the lockdown in the US. This disgusted me to no end and I would have quit before ever following an order remotely like this. Australian authorities all the way up to the PM who authorized this naziesque behavior need to be completely stripped of power for good. Possibly even jailed.

In horror I watched a brave young policeman knock an elderly woman down backwards so she hit her head on the hard road then another brave policeman came along with a gleam in his eyes and while she was down obviously hurt he pepper sprayed her directly in her face. I felt physically sick.

We had the same here in South Africa. Police, who are usually absolutely useless, were suddenly highly motivated to enforce lockdowns against peaceful civilians. Police who usually were uninterested in responding to violent criminals were suddenly available to respond with several vehicles to arrest people mowing their lawns outside of their property, or walking on a deserted beach. 60+ year old American here, my trust in law enforcement took a major hit watching their behavior during the pandemic. Before COVID I thought that if push comes to shove the police would have the backs of the people, you know their neighbors not the politicians. I was wrong, I saw that many are jack booted thugs not only willing use force on people exercising their rights but getting off on their own power over the ones they are sworn to protect. This was quite a wake-up call for me and it doesn't bode well for the future of law-abiding citizens.
Why would you think men with guns hired by the government would stand by the people instead of standing by the hand which feeds them coin?

They just stopped policing altogether, told us to stop using 911 except for loss of life, and to not go to the station if you need help. So for almost 2 years we were pretty much on our own. Obviously crime exploded even worse but at least they weren't pepper spraying us for not wearing masks I guess? It seems leftist politicians only know how to abuse their power or simply refuse to do their jobs, there's no middle ground. I was a police officer for 28 years in the Seattle area in Washington state. What I watched the Australian officers due to their citizens was absolutely appalling. I’m so sickened by the Australian Police. Typically were all brothers from around the world in law enforcement but I wouldn’t have one of them in my home.

I believe that during the Nuremberg trials that the people used "I was just doing what I was told" and it was determined that that wasn't a valid excuse for what they did at the concentration camps.
In the US, our military is duty bound to refuse illegal orders. That applies to police too. The problem is, when push comes to shove will they have a spine and say no.

I have always said to my kids that most Police are doing their job and deserve respect. If a Policeman was part of this and did nothing about the excessive force, then they are just as guilty. When this happened, I remember thinking that the next step if it escalated was lethal force and people being loading on trains on their way to death camps. The Police FORCE certainly acted like the SS would have in the late 1930’s if lethal force was prohibited. It was the most disgusting act I’ve witnessed against modern day Australian’s.
