Manaka is a great character, because of that. She is savage, yet more caring, and kind then she usually acts.
"If you got to step on someone's toes to be happy then do it." That line shows even though she was jealous of Retsuko stealing her thunder in her Jpop group, she still felt she deserved it, and wanted what's best for her. It's that moment they start to become friends.

Kinda sad but true. In a relationship, someone has to take the lead to move things along. If you're both too nervous about stepping on the other's toes then you won't ever get anywhere.

no, Manaka is correct. in a relationship at least one person needs to make decisions.
that is why Heida would be happier with Inui, the dog girl he dated in season 3. she was confident and was able to actually make realtionship decisions for both of them
Retsuko is getting more confident in later seasons, but she still needs to improve herself a lot before she is able to have a healthy relationship with someone like Heida

Helped gave her direction. The moment I was at my lowest point in my life, she wanted to leave. That kind of relationship is toxic. You need both parties to be themselves, not rely on one or the other, but make assessments on a problem based as a couple, not an individual dragging a boulder with his chain.

The problem with manaka's advice is that some people are afraid that "taking charge and being assertive" equals "abusive and controlling". Especially when you have angry bitter exs trying to cancel you on social media by labeling you as toxic or abusive.
You have to find someone that has a positive impact on you and is equally receiving of it. Because you could be well meaning by trying to guide or taking charge. But the partner could just be stubborn, have a weak spine, or unwilling to make compromise. Then you get painted as the villain. At that point, your better off leaving the partner after enough attempts.

  • @leatonjenkins6810

Honestly, I agree since Retsuko needs someone who loves her for her and wants to be with her and vice versa. Sure, she is nervous and isn't sure about her relationship decision, which is why she needs someone confident to help her with that, like Manaka or any other guy. Kabae is a good person who knows a lot more about love than Tsunoda. Haida definitely didn't deserve Retsuko or Inui because, for the former, he put her on a pedestal. At the same time, while he was seeing Inui, Haida didn't seem to care about her feelings and took her for granted while whining like a bitch about his feelings and fantasy for Retsuko.
Personally, they should've been friends with Retsuko, finding someone who loves her for who she is and helps her confidence issues. I can see her being with one of her girlfriends, like Manaka or Tadano, rather than frail dog boy Haida.

Retsuko doesn’t deserve Haida. She doesn’t deserve anyone until she decides she wants to seek romance for the right reasons.

    • @mlkywine6852
      @mlkywine6852 Před 2 lety +61

I have to fully disagree on that one. Maybe this argument would apply on early season 2, but she has shown to wanna love someone for the right reasons. At first she wanted to get married as a scapegoat to quit her job, but throughout the season and thanks to Kabae she learned to genuinely wanna be with someone she likes. She proved it when she still broke up with Tadano even though she could’ve quit her job and him literally ensuring her she could accomplish any dream should wants thanks to his fortune.
Haida in my opinion is the one who doesn’t deserve anyone. He totally took Inui for granted and while it is his was decision to at the end of the day if he wanted to be with her or not he still called Retsuko over his house on the same day he promised to hang out with Inui. And don’t get me started on him being so insistent on her to date him because of some app. Like Manaka basically said in the clip he isn’t exactly the assertive and just chews the fat with her by just fine being her coworker while getting jealous or acting all moody whenever Retsuko dates someone

honestly, i don't really think that was how season 3's finale was meant to be read, but it was delivered horrifically vaguely so i get why you'd see it that way (for a while, i did too).
to me, the app was meant to be a way of saying that no matter how alone retsuko feels in the world she will always have haida, fenneko, gori and washimi to pull her out of that way of thinking (i feel like season 4 honestly expanded on this quite a bit by giving fenneko and haida more intimate 1-on-1 screentime with retsuko), in that sense, more of a beacon of trust than a literal symbol of romance.
retsuko and haida haven't, didn't, and probably never will consider the matchmaking results to be of any importance, the only character who takes it seriously is gori whose pretty emotionally driven as a character, plus it's like, her proof of concept. i think retsuko and haida deserve whatever they earnestly feel they deserve out of their lives, especially since they spend a lot of the show being told by other people what they should and shouldn't do, should and shouldn't feel, etc.
regardless, i appreciate hearing other people's input on the show since it does notoriously leave a lot of things very much "up to interpretation" and all that jazz. that's part of the fun for me, i think.

I mean, ultimately, it's all based on subjective personal preferences. 🤨 If anything, if you like someone, and you think they might be into you too, but that someone isn't making the first move, then why are you just sitting around and expecting crap to happen? Just go and ask them out! Its 1.000 times easier when you're a woman anyways.🤔

The amount of people who agree with Manaka kind of scares me. What she's talking about can also be toxic as well. Both parties needs to agree and grow with each other, not one dragging along the other like a ball and chain on your leg. This creates a dependency.
I've been in this hypothetical relationship that Manaka points out and I was the hypothetical man while my ex is Retsuko. Both parties needs respect, not dependency. When my ball and chain was at her lowest point, I helped her up. The moment I was at my lowest and the person chained up is hurt, she wanted to leave.
This is like Andrew Tate level of agreement on this style of opinion.
