Haha That means a lot to me Drew! Thank you very much for your time, kind words and for your support. I appreciate you.
I feel like I would remember the shouting and grunting far more than anything I was taught. How is your tattooing journey going as of today?

Hats off to all the single needle artists. All my tats are from prison in the 90's. Just started to learn and wow there is so much more than i would have imagined. Thanks for all the tips
Brotha' brotha' brotha'... This was the video that I really needed to see. As a beginner, I came on her to get some tips and this is the first vid that I came across and let me tell yah', this was the only one I needed to see atm. Perfectly detailed instructions, pros, and con. Awesome job explaining things to me bud. Thanks 👍
I am really digging these long form videos man. Gives us so much to soak in. Keep ‘em comin boss #DanielYuck
Just got my kit today and this is a problem i have been running into. This video couldnt have been any better timed.
You have the best tattoo channel that i have seen by far.
thank you my friend I like the way you explain in great detail making lines and shadows on fake skin
Fantastica a aula! Mto empolgado pras proximas.
Aye man, thanks so much, I just got a new tattoo machine and I’ve been struggling to get used to it since It’s a pen with a battery and watt controller, my lines are coming out way more smoothly now and saturated
This was great. Thank you.
Thanks for the knowledge man ❤
This was incredibly informative and helpful!! Thank you for putting it in a comprehensive and digestible way

Thank you very much for your videos, it helps a lot!!
I’d like to ask you if you have any tips how to keep your lines perfect when you’re tattooing on chest (how to control your lines while your client’s chest is moving due to breathing…)
Thank you so much!

Now I realize why I use 9V my hand speed is quite fast because that's where I find my line Accuracy
You saved me! Thanks
@DanielYuck What are you using to clean up your tattoo between lines? I know that a thin layer of Vaseline is applied before the tattoo for a cleaner smoother line run, is that what your using? Or are you using something else? When I do a tattoo I use the blue soap and water and spray it on or use a foaming dispenser and it’s a real pain to use between every run to clean the ink. What your using looks very easy and more effective.
Great video thank you again :3
I feel like when I tattoo fake skin it is harder to get the ink in than into human skin. But that might just be the kind of fake skin I am using
does it feel like rubber or silicone? and does the ink/stencil ink stain? if it feels like rubber and it does stain most likely that’s the reason why, it is 100% the skin.
try something with a more silicone feel, this guy speaks a lot about it through his videos! but a good skin i recommend is reel skin :)
@@sophieprice7621 I use reel skin
Nah that's just how it is, reelskin is top tier stuff, I've got some trueskin I'm going to play around with at the studio today
Same... right there with ya my guy
Doesn't set in as well into the silicone, I've tried several different types so it's pretty much all
Some better than others but overall same results
Yo I have the same problem & I’m using pound of flesh I’m trying to pull big fat 14rl lines tho. If y’all find out lmk and I’ll do the same🫡
Awesome bro!🤙🤙🤙
Love how you explain everything when you do these videos. #DanielYuck
Love the vid thank you! The "adversities along the way" part took me out lmao
I’ve heard it referred to as “Cycles Per Second” Bronc power supplies will tell you your CPS. 120-135 is good for lining, 110 to 120 is good for shading. So on my CNCQ2 I shade at 8.5v and around 9.6v for lining.
Thats awesome info! Thank you for sharing. I appreciate it.
@@DanielYuck yours is def better than mind with way more knowledge than me. Thanks for the learning videos .
Question for you, when you wipe are you using a shop towel with water on it? Then wiping with Vaseline? Or is it dry?
Hey bro I bought your V1 book love it! I am already working on fake skin but I am struggling with when I wipe off ink it is really messing up both my fake skin and my stencil. So stupid question but is the petroleum gelly that is applied throughout meant to stop the ink from smearing on the skin? I feel dumb but I keep having this issue any advice would be awesome. Also thank you for making your books they are amazing and the beginners book is really helping me!
I just wrote a little story about my situation then my dog hits the laptop and erased ,,, need help ,Thanx for providing such help. Glad you R here. the depth of the needle is what im still a little rough on. alot of my work on myself has been to deep and scab up and byebye... to the ink ofcourse. One more little tidBiT. i used the machine on myself and not very much ink at all. when i Shtick and Poke the same area the better my skin sucks up the ink .... Slower i GO? Maybe ..... thanx for reading this far. Peace
hey so every time you lifted the pen. did you have to apply any A&D cream? i noticed it was a lil glossy and want to know when i apply it do i need to wipe it off before going to the next line? you didnt touch base on using the A&D. so thats what i need to know
thank's for tip no one never told me that.
You're welcome!
Thank you for your time, feedback and support.
I appreciate you.
Thanks for the videos..they help alot, can u make some of wat needles to use in wat area.thanks
You’re welcome! Thank you for the feedback and support. I appreciate you. I can definitely do something like this. Allow me to get this going and uploaded for you. Thanks for the recommendation 🤝
I've also heard that tattoo ink goes weird (green or blue?) on the face. Can you make a video speaking to this, explaining why, advising on which inks /brands tend to stay true to color, what brands that you'd recommend that offer skin tones, and any caveats, techniques, etc for tattooing over already scarred skin?
Thank you so much for sharing such detailed information with us!! You are a natural born teacher. #DanielYuck
So far the biggest problem i have is with hand speed/volt settings definitely needed thjs video #danielyuck
I think the ink I was using was a bit low on pigmentation, but also since I had been drawing for a long time on paper I do strokes pretty fast and it's so hard for me to break that for tattooing so I need to work on that haha, I thought using a higher rpm might make up for my speed but the results are always kinda shite, just gotta practice to do it slower and be steady with it
I’m just learning the basics of tatting so I may be wrong (hopefully he corrects me if I am), but would your faster hand speed be beneficial when it comes to shading? Or would it be better to have similar consistency like doing line work?
@@keasiadaempress I mea it all depends on the type of shading I guess, it's all a difficult play with the voltage and handspeed that need to play together well, I got some pretty expensive ink that had some really good reviews and it's working some better but what makes an even bigger difference is the lower voltage, I think it just wasn't even really able to penetrate the skin because it was going too fast before.
As for shading I have personally only ever done whip shading which is a very low vtage woth quick hand movements which gives a very faint dot result and a crosshatching technique which is my fav so far, never done greywash tho or smooth shading with a mag before just cause it's not really my style.
So yeah, technically a fast hand movement is beneficial when shading but the voktage I was using was still just too high and it's working so much better now that I cut it like in half ☺️
My husband keeps complaining how I have a heavy hand. I keep practicing to avoid that. He says I still have one. Idk if he's being a whimp or if I'm actually doing something wrong. ADVICE!?!
This is a great question!!!!
A heavy hand is never a good thing and can really impact our work, experience and healed tattoo tremendously.
From lines that bleed together to tattoos that have textures from the scarring underneath. I actually made a video on how we can go about avoiding a heavy hand or potentially reversing a heavy hand. In the video I will link you below you will be shown an exercise that you can use to immediately start reversing the heavy hand habit.

Hello 🙏🏻 can I ask something ? 🥹 What happens if I use 4.3 volts or 4.5 volts ? It ok for do tattoo or 5 volts or more is better ? Thank you 🙏🏻
Can you please take a video four shading with voltage ,❤❤
3RL and 5RL would be better at a lower voltage? How low do you think?
Love the talking hands at the beginning 😂 🤙

I have an issue where my liners are not making a single bold line, but rather several thin lines where each individual needle is. Is it an issue with my fake skin, or is it me?
I’m having that same problem too!!!
I have that issue too. I found out I have to go slower on fake skin
Sometimes, the needle choice could be the problem, or the direction of the needle movement. I feel like this video is sharing the basics and proposing information, which as long as you are using a different machine or needles, is not a rule anymore but a choice. I use Kwadron liners and am more than happy with them. Also I do not work in traditional style, and I rarely make a line as consistent in only one movement, I feel like this is damaging the skin. I feel like I’m your situation you are probably not going deep enough with your needle, which is ok, you should go through it one more time with the same depth. It might need a couple of lines like this until you are grooved on.
Nice video. Can you tell me what exact needle cartridge you are using when tattooing the rose? (Sorry if you said it in the video and I missed it :D)
Thank you for your feedback and support! I appreciate you.
If I remember correctly I was using an Emalla 12-14RS for the bold outline. I will link you below so you can check out the needle on our end.

I havent tattooed anything yet, trying to get all of my suppies together now. I need a battery pack, ink and all the small sanitary things. I want ball pint pen carts after watching your video on them. So my question, where should i truly start? Im so excited and want to tattoo my first real person, myself, by summer. Think this is a real goal? Any and all advice is welcome, im just so ready!! Im older, 30's, and finally feel like this is something im going to just flow with but i want to do this right!
Same... I'm 49 and want to think about changing careers due to burnout, and want to do restoration / medical tattooing, because I can't draw but can color like a boss!!! 🤣
What spend do you typically use?
This is one of the videos I enjoy watching every now and then to keep myself aware of my hand speed and voltages thanks again #danielyuck
Hello , its RS ligne or RL ? Tension ?
Hey Daniel love the video
I’m practicing on a 1 round liner on a 7.5 volts I tend to have a faster hand speed than you. Since my background of graffiti art.
Would you recommend this voltage or something higher?
I did graff before too when I was a teen for many years and it's nothing like Graff so u just want to unlearn what u know about Graff while your doing tattooing because tattooing is something u do at a much much slower rate. That's why tattoos take so long. I've been tattooing for 10 years now and I would never think of it anywhere even remotely similar to graffiti. So just tattoo slow and steady and don't think of it like graffiti. Think of it much more like a detailed painting with a paintbrush. Slow smooth strokes and yes if u have a quicker hand I would do somewhere around a 7 for line work.
@@arijolie415 it most definitely ain’t the same. Im doing 8.5 volts on a 3.5 mm stroke.
@@SosaInk You will end up rapturing the skin.

Thank you for your time and support as well,
I appreciate you 🤝
is it bad if my flow/speed is at 9.5V?
Hey Daniel I am aspiring tattoo artist (hopefully getting my first machine with some reelskin & ink for christmas) I was wondering if doing line work like this is the same as doing line work on traditional art with pencils ? as light pressure & sharpness of the pencil will create either light or dark lines (If I am completely wrong I do apologize but like I said I'm just starting out)
It's not, you want consistent speed that will differ between shading and lining. Also consistent pressure, if you push too much you will go to deep easily. Shades are made by diluting ink or getting grey inks
@@Vectorechanel ahh ok thank you for replying :)
Im transitioning from a prison gun to a freeworld gun....i did a tattoo the ink fell off.....i was scared of scaring....any tips...i saw ur video i migth not have gone to deep
damn, i have like waay higher voltages and feel all wrong now. like i start at 7, for a 13rl i have like 9 volts.
Why line with a RS and not a RL i might have missed when you said that
Guess I'm in my canon rebel phase cuz I bought a tattoo machine kit and just been going at on my poor arm😂😂
The hand movements are giving me motion sickness lmao. Great info tho!!

How do you pack white eternal ink
I have a video on my channel where I explain how I go about packing white.
I will link you below
czcams.com/video/-s90_jnRUX4/video.htmlsi=k3tdS5DHo3vfkZ7v
How many lines can you do with one dip of the needle in ink.
Thats a great question! Although there wouldn't be 1 sum answer to this question as every needle I have ever used is different. Depending on the needle design itself I feel would have a lot of impact in terms of how long of a line we can pull with 1 dip.
Sometimes the artist only dips just to pull in a little bit of ink to work a smaller area. It truly all depends but a good practice is to always be mindful of how much ink we have to ensure we can make the line before we commit.
7.5
Good ass vids
Thank you Teezy! I appreciate your feedback and support.
Is he going sideways with a mag talking about solid lines ? I can't tell if its a big round
would you recommend putting the fake skin on a paper towel ?
Yea that’s a good way to go when we are practicing! Try to place it on a silicone limb if you get one, it helps to tattoo on curved surfaces over flat as you advance.
The machine at 34 minutes is so quiet. The sound of the needles going into the rubber is louder than the machine
I don’t get the idea
Fake skin is much much harder than real skin. Plus I am use to stretching the skin on real skin when fake skin you don’t do that. I just can’t get use to fake skin at all. Real skin soaks ink much better. 5 volts is way too slow for lining. I run at 7 volts for lining.
all the audio is coming from the left side. can you try and even them out for the next videos? super hard to listen to
Thank you for the feedback! I will definitely do better in all of my future videos. I apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured I will do my best to get this resolved.
I like 6.5 but I feel like 6.0 is a steady speed
It’s not super fast but it’s not super slow either
Thanks bro for information...this video is really useful for everyone
You’re welcome! Thank you as well for your time and support! I appreciate you 🤝
Questions.... Why are you using a shader to line ?
Also when you let your needle catch , how to you prevent blow outs , wouldn't that overload the "catch" zone with ink?
These are great questions!
So for me I like to use round shaders for lining because I am able to get clean bold lines that I would not get using round liners.
For the catch zone question. If we go in directly to the catch zone I feel yes we can blow out the skin for sure. When we enter the line we want to use a taper like motion which not only gives the needle time to catch into the skin but it also prevents a blow out as well.
This would also depend on one's experience as blow outs can happen to any artist of any caliber.
@@DanielYuck awesome man thanks for the reply. IV been tattooing for around 7 years but learnt alot from your videos. Your doing well man keep it up! The guy who taught me uses to get a liner , heat it slightly with a flame then poke it thru his tshirt to "splay " the needles effectively turning a liner into a shader but have never tried to use a shader as a liner .... Going to give this a whirl
