Cinematographer Kelii Grace takes the new Sony RX100 MK4 to Japan on a recent trip. All footage shot handheld in 4K SLog2 100mb codec and edited+graded in Adobe Premiere CC.
How stable is the footage naturally? Looks amazing, but seems like warp stabilizer has to be used quite a bit in cc to keep it steady, and the edges distort. Is this a camera that is probably gonna need a lot of that?

Hawaii Camera while recording video, how is the continuos AF on moving subject? does it has a hard time one keep focusing on moving subject without losing or focus on other things? example like on canon DPAF on my perspective is much better on focusing on moving subject once you touch the screen on which subject you want the camera to focus on.
Very smooth video. I love it! I need to learn how to stabilize this camera more. The footages I take using AVCHD 120fps looks very shaky even with stabilizer on. I haven't tried the 4K mode though because its only 30p. I usually used the 120fps so that I can easily use that footage for slow motion effect.

Have you tried to test out the auto focus on the object and for selfies if it's able to focus real quick? and also in dark area? What do you think this camera compare to canon g7x II ?

Great film, Iv just purchased the same camera but I'm experiencing lots of noise in slog2! How have you got round this... The cameras lowest ISO setting is 1600 when using pp7.
+John Wells color grading and the right exposure. sometimes it doesn't handle blacks when shooting at night, you have to be very careful when shooting s-log but when done right it can be beautiful.
Do you simply download the SLog 2 picture profile onto the camera to use it? Does the footage look good just with SLog 2 alone without colour grading? And does the colour grading in post take a long time? Did you have to manually colour grade each clip ?
The camera comes with s-log 2 built in. The image is very flat and colorless, and must be graded to look decent at all. Color grading can be as simple as a log -> Rec709 LUT on top, or you can do more elaborate things. But grading is essential for log footage.
Hello again ! I heard that it was useless to buy a 4k camera if you don't have the tools to go with it. For example my computer is a Mac I bought in 2013 meaning it can't process nor read the 4K quality. Do you think I should go for the MK3 ?

Maybe this helps: F16 rule for a sunny midday F 16, Shutter 100, ISO100. F2 , Shutter 6400, ISO100. You need a 6 stop ND filter to keep F2 at Shutter100 at a sunny day. I would use a Variable ND in addition to the (totally welcome and very helpful in every aspect) inbody ND filter.

Look at two shots from 1:54 The image is "floating". Looks like there was postpro stabilisation used.
