  • Just like in the Pokemon anime the Pokemon games have mistakes as well! From sprite errors to text errors there are a lot of mistakes to talk about! They aren't as big of mistakes as in the anime but they're still there. Maybe you've notice some of these before or know one I didn't list? Let me know!

    The magikarp jumping over mountains thing is based on a legend where a carp jumps over a waterfall & turns into a dragon. The inclusion isn't a mistake by any stretch of the imagination.

    The Magikarp one isn't actually a mistake. Magikarp is based on a myth about a carp that leapt over a huge gate to become a dragon (which is why it evolves into a Gyarados). Because Magikarp is based on the carp in the myth, it makes sense it would be able to jump that high.

    Here is one that bugged me in HeartGold/SoulSilver: When Lyra/Ethan calls you saying that her Marill evolved, not only does she appear in-game with her un-evolved Marill, but she keeps calling saying that her Marill evolved? Is that Marill somehow "devolve"? Or does she call while Marill is evolving, and once she hangs up, the Marill stops evolving?

    In FR/LG when you go to Cerulean city, beat rival and nugget bridge
    if you go to the left from the nugget bridge, there's trainer in tall grass.Before he battles you he says "Is saw your *feat* from the grass"
    And uhhh...shouldn't it be *feet*?

    Pidgey just looks like a bird. That's not a mistake. They just made animals. They weren't striving to make Pokemon look like what everyone is used to now, which are the designs of the show. They just designed the animals. That's why Yellow came along and changed all that. I personally love the sprites on Red/Blue versions.

      Congratulations, you have an error! All Pokemon bigger than 1x1 step length (the length of 1 step in-game) will be put in its pokeball as you enter a building. Well, at least that is the most logical thing to assume based on the fact that there is an animation with small blue stars appearing around your Pokèmon as you step away from the door and it gets space. That animation looks an awful lot like a Pokemon being released from its Poke Ball.

    We all skip reading that "crap"? Uh... No?
    Story is important for any game and the Dex entries are part of the story.
    Why the hell would you NOT read them besides laziness or idiocy?
    I know every dex entry by heart just like I know everything else - equations, item, item/trainer/Pokémon locations trainer Pokémon/levels, Pokémon base stats, egg/TM/HM/Level up moves etc., etc., etc.
    Even if I didn't have an eidetic memory I still know all of it because I'd make it a point to remember it because I care. Why would you play something for ~16 years and not know everything?
    As for the odd entries like Magikarp jumping over a mountain if you'd actually read it, it says one that's lived for many years can do so.
    Pokémon quite obviously get better over time so it's obvious that they're saying it trains itself to do that over the many years it lived.
    And even if it isn't true many of the entries ARE just rumors or myth.
    The dex entries aren't fact it's a collection of data from that region by that trainer.
    It's obvious if you pay attention that it's your character writing the dex entries based on what they hear in their travels.
    They butchered it in the other media by using Dexter/Dextette, but you're intended to be filling it, not unlocking existing data.
    How the game is coded does not equal the story behind it and the story says they ask you to FILL the Dex when they give it to you.
    Which is a highly effective method for gathering data too. They could never hope to collect so much by themselves because everyone goes about their journey running into different people and Pokémon in different locations at different times possibly gathering different data.
    Every trainers individual data can then be compiled by the researchers and they can begin testing them for truth - probably starting with the most common ones since they're more likely to be true.
    Makes perfect sense and doesn't even require any thought to figure out.

    The Magikarp entry in Platinum is not a mistake but is in regards to Magikarp's origin of design.
    "Magikarp is based on a legend about how carp that leapt over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. Several waterfalls and cataracts in China are believed to be the location of the Dragon Gate. This legend is an allegory of the drive and efforts needed to overcome obstacles. This may have inspired an element in Pokémon Snap where, after certain steps are taken, a Magikarp will splash its way into a waterfall where it evolves. Magikarp may also be based on Asian carp, which are easily frightened by disturbances in water and can jump 8-10 feet (2.5-3 m) in the air."

    Underwater battles in OR/AS = No Pokémon needs O2! (And can Dive and use any Flying type moves at *BOTTOM* of a sea!
    Water battles in any generation = Every Pokémon is Jesus. (and And can use Earthquake and Dig at *WATER*!
    My Suggest:
    Skybattles: You can't use Dive or any Ground type moves. And you must have a flying Pokémon like in X and Y to battle.
    Underwater battles: You can't use Dive or any Flying type moves in Underwater battles.
    Water Battles: You can't use any Ground type moves in Water Battle.

      This is just nit picky. why not say "oh you can't use fire types in grass because they'll burn down the grass" "oh you cant use a flying type in a sandstorm because it'd get blown away"

    • @doubled6490
      @doubled6490 Před 9 lety +1

      Ryuukosho ok, go with pickaxe and try to pick that water and let's see than again..
      and try fly in air.. not working? surely not, you have no wings!
      and how you think does pokémon have infinite o2 source in sea? I think plain stupid..
      that sandstorm thing was stupidly said, animals *can* fly at sky, even if there is some wind, and pokémon ar surely more powerful creatures!
      ( but maybe dive ban was stupid, idk)

    In pokemon black and white Ghetsis has a underleveled Hydregon (I think it is level 54 while Zwilious (dunno how to spell it) doesn't evolve until level 64 (I think))

    • @Guil_thenewmeta
      @Guil_thenewmeta Před 9 lety +3

      yup your right Deino evolves into Zweilous at lvl 50 and Zweilous to Hydreigon at lvl 64 = Ghetsis is a Cheater!!!

    • @SisselTorikki
      @SisselTorikki Před 9 lety +1

      Guilherme Girola yea and it is even worse in black 2 and white 2 because his hydregon is even lower leveled (its like level 50 in black 2 so he is cheating even more because he somehow made his pokemon delevel)

    To be fair about Gardevoir's Fairy Wind, it did say in the trailers that the gameplay wasn't final.
    Even so, they might make it a move tutor move for Gardevoir in ORAS

    Some of ho-oh's feathers are white, and white can be reflected into all the colours in the rainbow, so the pokedex entry is technically right.

    I'm pretty sure the magikarp pokedex about him splashing over a mountain is a slight reference to the folklore or whatever that Magikarp/Gyrados are based on.

    • @cosmoplasma
      @cosmoplasma Před 9 lety

      Mine WIzardKnightsLP Alakazam's JP pokedex entries state how it has to use its psychic power to balance his enlarged cranium, so perhaps it just doesn't bother to get itself taller than Kadabra at that point. I'm more perplexed that Alakazam can learn Iron Tail when it clearly lost its tail on evolution.

    2 mistakes of Winona:
    She has a Lv33 Altaria who had Dragon Dance, Swablu can't evolve until Lv35, and Altaria can't learn Dragon Dance until Lv40.
    In Emerald, one of her rematches include a Dragonair with Earthquake, but it can't learn it until as a Dragonite.
    Other mistakes include:
    Falkner's Lv9 Pidgeotto
    Morty's Lv21 and Lv23 Haunters
    Chuck's Lv27 Primape
    Pryce's Lv29 Dewgong and Lv31 Piloswine
    Wattson's Lv23 Magneton
    Norman's Lv28 and Lv31 Slakings

    The magikarp one was actually based off Japanese lore, the story goes as a fish that could jump a mountain and turn into a dragon, hence magikarps evolution into a dragon like garydos
