- July 11th, 2023 - My trip through Sweden continues, and this day, I meet up with @JoonesAdventuresMC in Degerfors. Jonas kindly offered me a place to stay for a couple days and had planned out a whole guided tour the afternoon I arrived! We checked out The Karsbo Cave, Kolarbyn, Limestone mines, and even a youth fountain, amongst other places.

How fun to get to see @JoonesAdventuresMC (my brother) through someone else's eyes and lense. He really IS a very fun and helpful guy with lots of knowledge about this area. If you'll ever get back to Degerfors you'll HAVE to ask him to take you to Sveafallen, to see all the gigant kettles and other ice age traces. It's really worth a visit, especially for people that haven't been there on many school trips. 😂 I'd suggest avoid going there on a rainy day though, because slipping and sliding there could be way more dangerous than at the Karsbo caves.

That was very enjoyable to follow along :) I also get confused with the difference between “fir” “pine” “spruce” “conifer” etc 😅 But Jonas is correct “Spruce”=gran; “Pine”=furu.

Very good area Degerfors between Karlstad and Örebro. In the 80th I was there. 🇸🇪❤️⛰️near Vänern lake. The biggest in Sweden.

What an amazing day it was. I had totally forgot the rain. So interesting to see your take on the guided tour. There’s still a lot of mystic and interesting places around here. A grave from knight, a lake that sometimes disappears, some large “giant’s pots” “jättegrytor”. A wizards mountain with an old ruin from an old defence fortress and much much more.
You really have to come back to visit some more of those places 😊

It holds a lot of “remaining” from the last ice age and there’s a lot of iron ore on n the ground, and there’s a lot of old mines, blast furnaces and remaining of old iron on industry here. 🤩

@@HeimVegenAdvbike Yes it’s a really interesting place if you’re interested in historical places. I read that the first “hammer forge” here in Degerfors took place in 1660 and about 10km from here the last charcoal furnace was used until 1966 so the forest around here where full of those charcoal stacks for over 300 years. It started earlier, about 400-800 a. d but the technic with those raised stacks started around 1000 a. d so for almost around 1000 years you could find them around in the area.
Then all remaining from the last ice age makes it even more interesting. 🤩. I’m not 100 percent sure about the giant “Diger”, when he actually lived in Karsbo so that part is not confirmed 😂 But it’s any how really interesting that Norway and Sweden share so much of the history and folklore so we can be sure that Diger hade some relatives in Jotunheimen in Norway . 🤩

I had been looking forward to this as both your personalities and humour compliment each other .I liked the tour of the forest..so peaceful and quiet with Joones showing some real knowledge of the area ,to show you the cave,and fountain of youth etc. I could do with a visit to a functioning fountain of youth lol . To have ice cream at the end of the day,Joones was really spoiling you ,Runa...he knows you well .

Cool to see this one through your eyes also. Quite an interesting area, even though I bet it can easily sail under the radar if you just Google the place: Local guides, like Jonas, with knowledge about the place makes all the difference.

Thank you 🙏 We have known each other over social media for a long time so it was so nice to finally meet her in real life and talk about everything between heaven and earth. It was also really interesting to see her work, she really has eyes for the details.
And as she mentioned in the video, except for motorcycle adventures and video making we also share the passion for ice cream, bacon and coffee and also cheese doodles 😂 even if we didn’t eat any of them this time 😊

Really nice meeting 🤩 It’s hard to tell what’s the best gear between Rukka and Klim, especially for Runa who’s only has Klim.
I have a Rukka jacket and Klim trousers (pants) i’m pleased with both. In both Rukka and Klim the GoreTex is the water protection layer. Runa has Klim Artemis which is the same as Klim Badlands for men. That’s the top of the line in Klim’s products. They have three layers laminated Goretex and different type of garments in different “panels” of the gear with harder stiffer garments in places where it’s needed and softer garments in other places to make the clothes more comfortable to ware and still have a good protection. My Rukka jacket is the lower end of Rukka’s line up but it still has three layers laminated Goretex. So it’s hard to compare between them.
The Rukka jacket is probably stiffer and maybe slightly less comfortable than for example Klim Badlands (Just guessing, never tested Badlands Jacket) I believe that the ventilation also is better in Badlands than in my Rukka Jacket. But it’s not fair to compare the top of the line and a lower end of the line product.
Three layer laminated GoreTex will always be stiffer heavier and warmer than other gear. It’s nice in scandinavia where even the summer temperature sometimes is below 10 degrees celsius, but in hotter climate they might be to hot especially if riding more “active”.
Both Rukka and Klim is premium gear both have D3O protectors built in. you will probably be very pleased with both of them. It’s probably more a question of taste.

As I live in the south of France, I bought the Rukka Rimo-R suit, which is made from 2-layer laminated Gore-Tex; I'm extremely happy with it because, as well as being waterproof, it's very supple, and the softness of the neoprene collar that goes up higher finally convinced me.

@@jeanfi1004 Rimo-R looks great, it’s probably not as stiff in the fabric as my jacket. The two layers GoreTex is probably a better choice than three layer in the warmer climate. It also looks better ventilated than my Rukka jacket. I also think that the pocket is easier to access than the pocket on my jacket.
Both Rukka and Klim are good quality brands 👍

Sweden is fantastic. With its nature, freedom to roam and set up tents. Pick berries, fish and make a fire. Everything under the "common law" = what all Swedes understand, but not all foreigners. It's about that subtle and unspoken thing.
Fishing can be expensive, you need a fishing license for the area you're in so if you're traveling that means a new one each day. Except for the sea and the five biggest lakes where it's free.
